MApp got things massively wrong again with that team selection and that formation. But it highlights just how woefully thin our squad is. Outside of the first 11 currently we have no players who are really good enough for the first team. We have too many kids and not enough finished players. We have no spare fit full backs (Ruffels and or Johnson aren't the answer). We have no effective spare midfield combination (Sercombe out, and Cowley gone, I never want to see Rothwell and Ledson together again). We have Taylor and Hemmings as proper forwards (Maguire is too busy playing as the whole of midfield, and Roberts is a child who isn't ready for first team football). We need more players. We need a decent ball playing tough central midfielder with experience. We need another decent striker. We need one or two full backs. Plus i would pay good money for that Danny Rowe from Macclesfield he had pace and was direct and tore us apart. Millman, how would you finance all these extra players? Good question the simple answer is now it is very difficult. The way it seems is that we did not buy well in the summer (not that the players were necessarily poor but they were not the players we needed). I think we got carried away with the whole young players coming through and being sold for a fortune. We got lucky that 2 players in one season went that way, and all of a sudden every player we bought was an attempt to meet those criteria. It appears that little thought was given to the environment and structure in which you need to place these players around more seasoned professionals to bring them on. If we had bought one or two players and fitted them into a settled formation I doubt we would be witnessing the problems we have had this season. Too many changes, too many unfinished players in the team, and changes in formations, and we seem to be a series of experiments looking to find the formula we lost at the end of last season. How to change this now is a problem. My guess is we can afford to send back the short term loans (some finish after half a season anyway). We should concentrate on getting the experienced midfielder first and foremost. A striker will cost and unless we put our hands in out pockets we would need to get very lucky in Jan. As for the other changes we will more than likely have to wait and make do with what we have. We are improving (bar these on and off bad performances) and our first 11 will more more than good enough to see us safe. However to really push on we would need to eiather pay up or put up with what we have. At the end of the day this is not my decision or my money. MApp seesm to know he is short of experience hopefully he knows where that nees to be applied it is up to him to pursuade DE to pay to fix things.

I believe MApp has already identified two experienced players he would like. It's whether they would come here for half a season.

To be fair no names were mentioned although he/she said it was for the 'spine of the team'. I suppose we'll see, as they say!!

We hit the post, the bar, and their keeper pulled off a great save. With luck we could have won 3-0. We were bad. We escaped with one. Last week we could have beaten the league leaders on their own patch. That's football we move on. I'm not saying that we couldn't have won 3-0 either, I'm just making a relevant response to the post that was made towards mine But to be fair you didn't, you only said we could have lost 3-0. The score could been any combination, my point was that it wasn't and in my view while being may fortunate to get a replay we did and in the circumstances of the game the players had to battle for that and did so
