How ever you put it this isn't good timing. 6 weeks ago when the season finished would have been bad enough, but with 6 weeks to go and with no notible signings, my god!

Paul Simpso did really well with Doncaster and was dumped after two promotions. Funny game football Paul Simpson didn't manage Doncaster. However, former U's player Dave Penney did. His last two managerial spells have been horror shows at Oldham and Bristol Rovers. Simpson achieved successive promotions with Carlisle. Missed out out the Championship playoff with Preston on goal difference. Lost a play-off final whilst manager at Shrewsbury. Success with England u20s. There are a couple of disappointments on his managerial CV too, but of the realistic available managers out there he should be in the running IMHO.

Sad MAPP has gone..
What about the guy who was at Wolves? He is out of a job and did well?
Simpson would also be good.

I stand corrected. Thank you for the clarification. I knew he had two successive promotions. Think there may be some surprise people in the running. Micky Mellon .... Must be devastated at getting 95 points and losing out Keith Hill of Rochdale Paul Tisdale Paul Lambert looking for a fresh challenge Glenn Hoddle. Lots of experience but not recent Graham Alexander...has to be one of the best in the lower leagues Personal choice would be Graham Alexander. Brilliant with Scunthorpe on a small budget. Could go one better with United

The Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald who is a good young manager would be my choice if possible.
Or Paul Simpson!

IF it's confirmed, I would like to see Danny Cowley at Lincoln come in.

Either of the last two choices would please me McDermott still has to prove something and he would have time The Cowleys going by previous history don't need time...they would hit the ground running

I think most fans would be. Maybe the announcement Appletons off will be be coupled with who is taking over 26% win ratio at Huddersfield and most recently a No.2 to a certain old boy at Derby...

Thinking about it, it's gotta be Faz. Well liked member of the squad and knows all about Appletons style of play and even potential targets he was lining up, seems sensible to at least give him a chance and would mean not so much upheaval.

We need someone to take the club forward. I'm not so sure he would, but he would be useful for his inside knowledge. Could do worse than ask MAPP what he thinks

A very big long shot.
Kevin Keegan Director of Football. Has worked with Faz at Newcastle and was his assistant for England. Might fancy getting involved in management again. Lee Clark is at Bury but he is very close to Faz as well.

I personally think this job will be very appealing to a lot of managers in or out of work. The players we have are very capable of promotion, and would only need to fill a couple of positions. Whoever gets the gig will be given time! We are not a sacking club by tradition, and that alone will turn managers heads. We are also suitable because of our geographic position, and it does matter for transfer dealings.

I'd think the club will have to get a name, if only to retain some players who I can only imagine will be preparing their Mr 5% for another club.

Jump before he was pushed? Why would anyone think that? Very popular manager who will be difficult to replace. Not many managers stay in post as long as he did. Hopefully we can get someone in soon who can carry us forward If there are to be new owners this week, as some have alluded to on here, they may want to bring their own management team in. Maybe the meetings last week were called by MA who feared for his position under new owners. The fact that there have still been no signings may suggest that the buyout is still live. I have to say, I think they may be something in this.

With the compo for Ma Sent from my SM-G930F using proboards Unless he has an unusual contract or leicester come over all generous, we'll get a years salary. So roughly £200k if estimates on here are accurate. The sad thing is he's worth 50x that to us, minimum.
