Unsure. Can you explain the U turn by DE if this happens? Maybe the talks have been continuing in secrecy? If not, then DE surely re-approached Juan with a weakened hand. If there is a god, then PLEASE put in another bid Mr Sartori, as 2 and a half years of progress is fast being undone. I take it back. This one is the best one yet.

For me, next manager has to be someone who has previously worked with limited finance, that's the most key quality. Not sure how limited they were at Lincoln but the Cowley brothers would be a good fit in my eyes. Would take a punt on Darren Ferguson and Graham Alexander. Both manager's who play a decent style of football and have experience with limited budgets. Not sure how ready Chris Allen would be and I'm all but sure Faz wouldn't want to become manager at his age - that being said keeping the two in the coaching staff would be brilliant, both factors in helping Appleton to contrast and improve.
The reality is though that we'll struggle to attract a top manager because our situation with the training ground, stadium and squad looking paper thing at the minute. So I would keep expectations fairly reasonable.

I think any manager would be very wary of coming here under these circumstances. Appleton is an outstanding manager who had achieved an enormous amount and seemed on the way to great things. It's clear that off the field events have led him to leave. and it's not clear how the underlying issues between our landlord, and the club owners can ever be resolved.

It's clear that off the field events have led him to leave. and it's not clear how the underlying issues between our landlord, and the club owners can ever be resolved. As we are now seeing, "money talks". If reports are true that we were paying Appleton 200k a year, then we should have no issue attracting a decent manager at that wage level. My concern is not about potential managers being put off by the instability, but it is about DE choosing the right man. He would be wise to ask for outside help and advice. That said, some on here believe DE won't be appointing the next manager anyhow. Did Appleton jump before he was pushed??

Jump before he was pushed? Why would anyone think that? Very popular manager who will be difficult to replace. Not many managers stay in post as long as he did. Hopefully we can get someone in soon who can carry us forward

I think Paul Simpson could well fit the bill. About to lose his current job with England and will certainly have gained trust from big clubs that he can look after their young players. Obviously happy to work with a young squad and will have a point to prove as a club manager. Wouldn't be my personal choose, but can see Darryl liking him.

Wouldn't surprise me if faz went too. Really? I would. I can't really see him getting a job at Leicester. So if the club try and get in a young manager then DF is the ideal man to work with.

We of course assume that any manager (and I'm talking particularly about those in work) would leap at the chance of working at a club where a possible takeover has fallen through, where there is discord in the ranks regarding vision and budget and where the four most important cogs in taking the club forward have all left in the past six months.
I mean, we have built up a good reputation in the game and all that, but if a manager comes and says he'll do it but only with a certain budget in place I can see it being a long search.
By no means am I getting the "we're doomed" hat on just yet, but I don't see smooth running for a while.

Most managers take over a struggling team/ club. We have just offered £350K for a player. I would think that we would be looked at very well by most potential managers.

Hopefully we can get someone in soon who can carry us forward If there are to be new owners this week, as some have alluded to on here, they may want to bring their own management team in. Maybe the meetings last week were called by MA who feared for his position under new owners. The fact that there have still been no signings may suggest that the buyout is still live.

Paul Simpso did really well with Doncaster and was dumped after two promotions. Funny game football Paul Simpson didn't manage Doncaster. However, former U's player Dave Penney did. His last two managerial spells have been horror shows at Oldham and Bristol Rovers.
