As i have already stated, Darryl really should now find the time to give us his vision of the future for this club. Clear up all of the mystery and the nonsense of the aborted deal and put out his intentions for this club, the ground and transfer situation going forward! I'm sorry, but with the greatest respect, why? He's made a statement on the take over deal. There is only mystery about it, because people want too no more and quite frankly in my opinion beyond the statement Eales has made it's none of our business.
I would be very surprised if his vision has changed in the past 12 months, so if it hasn't, then he doesn't need to comment on that either. The best way to look at things is assume nothing has changed unless there is a statement to the contrary. No it's not our business but we are his business without us he would be in trouble quite quick. As we are his business and we are paying to watch football for our entertainment I am sure he is aware if the entertainment is poor then our business for him will be a lot less than it is now, and at the moment our business is not enough for Daryl to sustain us at the next level his own words. So yes we would like to know why he has pulled out at the last minute of a deal that could of taken us further. If as you say you would be surprised his vision hasn't changed in the past 12 months....That would include he can sustain us in L1/2 but would need further investment to take us to the next level. Yes a statement would be helpful to appease the fans and all their curiosity.

I'd f*cking love to mate, there is just something about this that don't sit right. I'd say the stadium deal is a long way off especially while court proceedings are ongoing. But then Darryl and the board have also praised and had a massive go at the oxvox deal in the past, so I'm not sure if they think it's a good thing or bad. That's why I'd like just a bit of clarity. A plan we can all get behind. Once the football starts on the pitch the players manger and chairman all have my full support. Honestly mate, you need to deal with facts that you know rather than what people may think. Now there are friends that I have the greatest respect for who know DE who have their views on him, whether those views are good or bad doesn't matter to me as it's a personal opinion that they've aquired from their experiences with him. I don't know him, so I have to gauge my opinion on press releases. I bear in mind my friends experiences but I won't judge someone on others opinions. This has been the point I'm trying too make today, people seem to have gone into conspiracy mode, where there's no grounds for it. May not be conspiracy mode but certainly inquisitive mode and too right they should. Three months of talks due diligence taken place, 11th hour and the sale is cancelled as I said inquisitive.

So on that basis, in the last 12 months he has told us that without a stadium deal, we would need to cut budgets or possibly move away from the county. The only deal on the table looks like it's dead in the water or at least a long way off. So if nothing has changed what happens now? What's the plan? Like big rob says just do what he intended with that interview and properly end speculation. I will more than happily manoeuvre the positive bus right back behind him. If there is a plan for the future. The board made the comments about the stadium deal, but in any case, the stadium deal isn't dead yet is it? So if it isn't dead then we carry on as we are. Your the driver of the positive bus, you need to start it back up and keep selling 'one way tickets'!! 😀 What deal would that be, The community ownership looks to be over with Oxvox saying that a renegotiated Lease looking more promising but this is Kassam that people are dealing with, And sorry but I don't hold out any hope there.

This budget debate is becoming really tedious! Darryl Eales is a brilliant Chairman and supporter. He will no doubt fund the club as much as he is able within available resources.

The only people he needs to inform on most of the points made on this forum are shareholders. So I would suggest if curiosity is getting the better of forum members, try and buy shares in the club.

This budget debate is becoming really tedious! Darryl Eales is a brilliant Chairman and supporter. He will no doubt fund the club as much as he is able within available resources. Yes he is a good Chairman but his funding is limited to L1/2 at his own admission, Daryl has said he wants Oxford in the championship as do all the fans but if he would struggle in the Championship then he needs an investor(s). I remember when Lenegan was in charge and our recruitment had stalled quite bad and I was saying he has run out of money (That was confirmed to me by someone who would have a good knowledge of his dealings at OUFC) but there were others quite rightly saying he was paying the rent/service charge so he couldn't be short of money, But paying the rent/service charge is one thing but if you're not going into recruitment with a view for promotion then why bother, then the takeover happens and things are great a promotion 2 Wembley appearance 2 great FA cup runs that has led to more S/T sales bigger crowds but for how long if this coming season isn't as good as last seasons those crowds will lessen and then we will go back to......

I'm still loving the way people who may spend a few hundred pound a year on oufc are trying to tell a man who has spent upwards of £9million on oufc how to spend his money. He's NEVER said we'd have a top six budget. He said he'd like to THINK we'd have a top six budget. People are living on JS's every word about what he would have done, had he gained control. Would he have done as he's said he'd have done? As it stands, we'll never know. He seemed very open and honest so I'd like to believe he would have, but the simple fact is we don't know. As far as DE is concerned, so far he has delivered everything he said he would. He later realised he needs to buy the ground, but kassam won't sell it too him, because of the court case. IMO people are getting on DE's back because of our history of owners, not because of DE himself. Answer me this question. What gives any fan the right to tell DE how he should or should not spend his money? Why would he say he'd like to think we'd have a top 6 budget unless he could achieve it. It's just another comment moving towards telling us he has run out of money. This would explain the lack of transfers, when Appleton clearly said he wanted to get the majority business done before the end of May. We've missed out on a fantastic opportunity to become a steady championship, because of his ego.
Bless!

Oh for the days of Tony Rosser / Robert Maxwell / Robin Herd / Firoz Kassam / Nick Merry. When you could take everything that the chairman said at face value and trust them..... And don't forget 1 of our directors Mr Bill Reeves a dentist who eventually went to prison for fraud and that was pre uncle Bob

I asked as are many OUFC fans why he pulled out of a deal that would have taken this club forward.....Nothing you've posted previously has covered that. yes we are in L1 as we were 12 months ago and his vision is and I think it probably still is Championship football and DE has probably let that chance go and that would be his vision Championship football so his vision hasn't changed it will be L1 football for the foreseeable. No he doesn't need to explain to the thousands that are keeping this club going and those fans provided that most will reapply for their S/T will have paid an extra 1/3rd on their S/T price over the last 2 seasons, But if he wants to only inform the Shareholders that is his prerogative like some of those S/T supporters don't have to renew.

Paragraph one: He stated it wasn't in the best interest of oufc or himself. Obviously for whatever reason he felt the deal wasn't right for oufc or him. Paragraph two: He's previously said he can cover easily L1/L2 football, so from that I take he can afford a promotion push to the championship with his sell a player a year plan. Paragraph three: He's spent more than us fans put together in the time we've been here. In the three years I've started buying season tickets again, I've probably spent just over a £1000 for me and my two kids in total. Does that give me the right to know everything that goes on inside oufc? No. If I'd spent a few million on it, then your damn right I'd be wanting answers.

I agree with most of what Barts has said.
Eales is a legend. Sartori might well be the dogs bollocks and a genuine bloke and I have no reason to think he's not, so this is no slight on him, but he's only talking the talk. Eales is the one who has walked the walk with a promotion, 2 Wembley cup runs, 2 great FA Cup runs and recruiting and keeping faith with Appleton who has given us the best team for a generation.
This doesn't mean Eales is beyond reproach....but some of the comments and the tone of the comments being made about him are out of order. The man isn't perfect, but he has done a lot for this club. It's certainly the best time I've ever had watching Oxford.
I think people are also forgetting that Eales has ploughed a lot of money into this club, and he may well want a return on it. If we stay where we are, I dare say he'll lose a lot of money but if we get into the Championship then I'm sure he'll lose less. The better the club does, the better Eales does.

Also you have to hope someone will pay that sort of money every season otherwise it could be 2/3/4 players sold there getbthat 3 million which means you have to recruit all over again and hope they will be as good or better than what you've sold to sustain yourself i the championship. I would think I have spent a lot more supporting the club over the last 49 years I've seen good times great times and shit times there are a lot More who have spent a lot following their team when have high goes from r this team and yes in my 49 years of following Oxford Daryl is s the best Chairman but we would like to have some idea as to why it wasn't suited for DE to accept an offer from a very wealthy potential owner, it would have been Oxfords best chance of going to the next level. It may not have been in the best interest for OUFC or DE to accept the deal and yes I have to accept that decision but with what Sartori was saying you would think why was heisnoffer not acceptable. I may appear to be obnoxious towards DE's stance on the possible takeover but believe it or not I'm not I have a lot of respect for DE just want him there nsycceed in getting us the the Championship ionship and have the necessary investment to sustain ourselves in the championship and not an1 season wonder with a relegation with similar points or less than Rotherham had last season.

Well if a team doesn't make any signings what better way than to make up theories about the running of the club. Eales is now penniless (he is a multi millionaire), Satori was going to take us to the premiership (how many times as a future owner promised football fans that? Orient and Blackburn), Eales promises top 6 budget (he in fact stated he would hope we could get into the top 6 budget bracket - selling a player would allow that), MApp says recruitment budget isn't in the top 6 (the naughty little scamp saying that so fans can twist it).
Fans seem to have very short memories, some people need to remember where we have been in the last few years and realise where we are now. Even the talk of getting in the championship is a dream to me. I'd be happy if it takes us another 3 years to get there, I personally don't think we are ready for it but in the mean time if we flirt with the play offs and get to watch exciting young players so be it. Remember that if he wasn't injured/fully fit we would have a world cup winner on our books right now.

Can't see the issue - people we asking for details about the OxVox involvement and they were rightly told due to confidentiality, etc updates would be given when it was appropriate. Now people are asking the same from DE, but are getting their knickers in a twist because of the same reason he is drip feeding info. Give the man a break!

I don't think IL lost money as DE seems to have bought up his debt, so it would probably be the same with whoever ends up buying the club from DE. If we get to the Championship then he will probably end up making quite a bit of money and not losing any... I think that's the reason he hasn't sold to JS at this point in time.

Not that I necessarily see it this way, just answering your question, but he's put a big increase on season tickets, and just before most have renewed he says he wants our budget to be around top 6, many (including me) buy their season ticket, and then we sign only 2 players over several weeks, and then the manager comments at only getting a few more in, seemingly going against having anywhere near a top 6 budget So if he's been dishonest with the people he relies on to pay their hard earned money to support the team then I think we should at least be able to question him and his motives THIS. THIS. THIS. Let's replace the word "fans" with "paying customers". And if you've hiked your prices by 40% or so in two years on the basis of an improved product, those customers do have the right to wonder if they have been sold something under false pretences when the proposed improvement aren't readily apparent. And this "What gives any fan the right...." line is one small step away from saying that clubs' owners shouldn't be questioned or criticised at all. And it's not about showing a lack of appreciation for what has gone before; it is, quite rightly, asking what is going on in the here and now. Karl Oyston used to be reasonably popular with Blackpool fans, and the Oyston family have certainly spent many millions on Blackpool. Does that mean Blackpool fans have no right to voice their disapproval? Of course not! The comparison with Oyston seems a little bit uncalled for. Personally I'm concerned about certain people connected with the original FOUL (who enabled Firoz Kassam to buy and loot the club without putting sufficient assurances in place to protect the assets ) now attacking the current owner on unspecific grounds and taking every opportunity to drip poison. If you have something specific to say say it. Otherwise pipe down.

Mate, there hasn't been mass staffing cuts, people have just left. Just because a loan is on the books, doesn't mean it'll be paid back. We had a bigger debt with lenaghan. How much of that was repaid? We actually have more debt than ever under lenagan. And if all staff leave but are not replaced U have the same effect. We have less staff now than at any time since Rosie has been working at the club. That includes the period under Kassam when he cut everything. And our time in the conference. I'm going leave it there now I trust the people I've heard stuff from enough to be worried, those of you that haven't are more than capable of coming to your own conclusions. These things always come out eventually. Anyway. Have we signed anyone yet You spend too much on twitter if you are believing the same 'ITK' people that I keep seeing on there.

And isnt it entirely possibly that those of us wanting answers have heard things as in your last paragraph that worry is enough to feel the need to ask the questions ! Rather than is just having some personal hatred of Darryl ? Things Like mass staffing cuts, and transferral of a £4.5m loan that was written off and more. Mate, there hasn't been mass staffing cuts, people have just left. Just because a loan is on the books, doesn't mean it'll be paid back. We had a bigger debt with lenaghan. How much of that was repaid? For being friend of a friend, you seem to have a handle on things and are confident to put them as fact. I don't disagree with a lot of what you say, but my life is too short to keep fending off questions in any discussion on gossip.
