I knew Firoz was taking the p*ss, so now if a deal with sartori can't be met maybe another way would be to renegotiate the lease. So Kuntsam keeps ownership, ffs what are Oxvox playing at, obviously there were no potential backers.

Has Kassam actually said he would sell for this 12 million being quoted? If so has he that based on the rent and other potential earnings he would make for the remainder of the lease?

But even gifting it the club, it would only generate around 300k a year. But then cost the club all the maintenance and staffing cost, so the benefits didn't really add up

I'm not exactly in favour of car v good public transport but how is reducing parking helping supporters and the vogue for executive houses v a fourth stand with extra facilities?? Think more fuel is being added to uncertainty over club future either way.

A lot of interesting bits but no huge revelations. A lot of common sense re the stadium and where OxVox stood. Basically OxVox have been trying to offer some alternatives to the impasse that the club and Kassam had reached. One of which was organising a deal that could see money loaned from the council and possibly other large investors then repaid through the rental back to the club. As has been discussed before the rent wouldn't be able to be lowered by much but the club would have full revenue from the stadium and would be stadium operators so things like the forth stand and the pitch and any development of the stadium would be in their hands. I'll try and bullet point some stuff as I remember it but beer and a very humid night may have addled my memory somewhat.
The Stadium
- As we stand OxVox are just standing back from the community ground negotiations to allow anything developing in terms of bids for the club to happen without interference.
- They stressed they have no particular desire to see the club sold. They did agree the the communication had broken down a little with the club and that they were partly to blame but that they and DE were working hard to improve that and were speaking regularly and the relationship was good.
- The figure for the stadium was £12m but what they had been working on was significantly reducing that (it's not really viable at that level) by a deal with the council to allow FK to develop the overflow carpark while making up the shortfall with pockets of parking spread around the area.
- OxVox stressed that they were never trying to buy the ground, just to arrange some sort of deal that would benefit the club. As with all negotiations they tried to remain open and flexible and they now see the possibility that if FK does decide to retain the ground, a deal could be made to re negotiate the licence agreement to allow the club control of the stadium and revenue, and possibly at more favourable terms, with FK again being allowed to develop the overflow carpark.
New Ownership
- While Jem has met Sartori and said he was affable, passionate about football and obviously well connected he has no major insight into what is happening (and does not expect to have one). He rightly pointed out that it is a private deal. He was also at pains to point out the work DE had done for the club and that he was massively passionate about Oxford and that OxVox had no feeling either way as to what may happen and I suspect like all of us, we just want an end to uncertainty but that these things take time.
EFL Trophy
- OxVox had remained fairly neutral on this point, hoping like most of us that after the first year that this would just go away but now that things have progressed they are asking members if they want OxVox to take a stand. The feeling in the meeting was very much yes but they will go to the wider membership (as the often do) to ask. I suspect the feeling is there to fight 'B' teams in any form.
Anything else just ask and it might jog my memory. I may have muddled some details, I couldn't take notes as I had a beer in one hand and a very nice mini pork pie in the other. Oh and if that was SARGE in the middle of the hall, he has a very dapper flat cap!

Does seem to me that it's been months wasted. Lot's of wait and see, great news coming when people have asked questions of OxVox, and now this which basically says that we are back to square one.
No heads of terms, no nearer apart from a possible larger rent. Now the message seems to be, we where never trying to buy, etc so we are now taking a step back.
I'm sure I will get bashed by the normal three of four people on here, but I have to say this is disapointing

I see the numbers of membership are at 900..
Is that pleasing or slightly disappointing given the positivity around Oxvox the last few months?
Anybody also know how many people attended last night?

It's not effected the club /Darryl doing anything. If oxvox had not got involved at all, we would be in the exact same position today ! The fact is there is still a deal /deals on the table, and fk is still talking. That's further than any chairman has got in 15 years. So not wasted time at all.

At least we now know the catch with FK selling the stadium to the "not the club" group. I am already concerned about the overflow car parks being developed and no provision provided elsewhere. It feels like a what else can we do thing with an incumbent landlord.
Certainly makes me think that with that attitude, no wonder DE find FK difficult. Custodian of the club? Custodian of the club my arse.

OxVox suggest a new lease could be agreed rather than purchasing the ground so the club almost take on the complete running of the stadium from maintenance to taking all money from the marketing, food and drink sells etc. This however comes at a cost and that is an increase in rent. We already pay over the odds so will the club really make that much more money from a new lease being agreed to make it worth while?
This point wasn't aimed at you Junior, I just didn't want to do 2 posts!

The speculation certainly has effected pre-season. I'm not slating OxVox for trying or the time spent, but it does show that the posters on here who were saying that FK would never do any deal, who where loudly shouted down, where almost spot on.
At least now, we can maybe crack on with getting some players in

I thought that Jem did a very good job of providing more detail and texture to the explanation of events to date. It's very easy to look at the situation we read about this morning and make a black and white judgement on the situation.
A lot was talked about last night and there's no escaping the fact that FK doesn't need or have to do anything. That doesn't mean OxVox have or will waste time discussing, cajoling and encouraging the Kassams to move towards us. Until there is a viable opportunity to move away to a new location, what use is there in ceasing dialogue? What use is there in lambasting FK? It's all been tried before and works not one jot.
DE, by his own admission, has tried it all and hasn't got any further, so it is not as though OxVox have stopped him achieving his aim.
If there is the slightest chance that a new owner, perhaps JS, can get a better deal over the line, then it is right for OxVox to step back and allow that to play out. After all, they're not jeopardising anything.
In eight years time, when the licence is up, then perhaps hardball can be played, Until then, keep talking, keep investigating and keep encouraging FK, OCC and benefactors to try and find a way.
OxVox have done nothing wrong and kept a channel open that was closed to the existing owner.

I'm sure I will get bashed by the normal three of four people on here, but I have to say this is disapointing Yes, it is disappointing - but the whole ground situation and these negotiations were always hostage to fortune. OxVox are only acting as facilitators here, and if the situation has changed then what are they supposed to do? As it is they *may* have 'wasted' some of their own time and effort on trying - but let's thanks them for that! Kassam was never going to sell to DE - so it was (and maybe will turn out to still be) the only even vaguely likely option. I suppose the other thing we should take from it is that the club would still be paying considerable rent if the stadium was bought by a Community Trust. So thinking that ownership of the stadium will immediately give us some sort of massive financial boost is incorrect (which is exactly what Stewart D said on here awhile ago).

Well it sounds to me as though OxVox have been sold a pig in a poke by Mr Ka$$am. After months and months trying to negotiate a Heads Of Terms, we're now being told that an outright sale isn't likely, and instead we're most likely to be paying more rent (albeit with a bigger share of matchday income). I'm a proud OxVox member and I am hugely appreciative of the work they've done over the years - but what the hell are they playing at? Once again, Ka$$am has shafted the club for his own ends and played us like a fiddle.
I increasingly think the only way he'll sell up is if fans start taking direct action, protesting outside his hotels and hitting him in the wallet where it hurts.

Pretty much this what ZtoH said.
No criticism of OxVox at all. It is Ka$$am who should bare the brunt of any criticism. I'd imagine for FK the stadium is bought and paid for, it pays for itself. If Ka$$am TRULY wanted what was best for OUFC he would give OUFC the best possible lease deal he could afford us. Give OUFC the running of the stadium and all revenues from it AND reduce the rent. The Club pay for any investment in upgrading the stadium and maintenance.
It hurts me to say this but I have held back from attending many OUFC organised functions at the Stadium because I know that a large percentage of my cash would go to stadco and not OUFC.
Look at what SD has done at Eastleigh, built a fantastic club house of decent quality which fans can enjoy and I'm assuming (hope) most of the monies earned helps the running of the club. I know it isn't masses of dosh BUT! I would go out of my way to put as much as my money as I could afford if I knew it would help the club. I am sure there are many others who would do the same. It would make a difference.
I can totally understand why Ka$$am would not SELL to an individual but he could help OUFC out if he isn't going to sell.

Is there a potential buyer of the ground out there I bloody well hope so, Because in DE's words he can sustain us in League's 1&2 but our target of championship football would be beyond him. So in summary unless Kuntsam sells the ground to an OUFC supporter or at least a football orientated person(s)who will like DE fall in love with OUFC.

I may have not heard it correct at the meeting, I'm sure someone can correct me or confirm.
The 2 stadium options were a community trust purchase with loans and benefactors making up a a reduced purchase price to the £12m being quoted, this will not reduce our rent because of loan repayments and the payments might be more, we will obviously have the benefits of owning the ground to raise income streams.
The other is a rip up the existing license and negotiate a better financial deal on the lease, and have all the income streams as per owning the club.

We all know Stewart could buy the ground but his involvement with Oxvox was to lend his business acumen. . There has been no mention of financial backers to aid in support of securing the ownership of the ground which is paramount I still believe kuntsam is playing Oxvox I know Oxvox are taking a back seat with Juan Sartori in the frame and tbh I hope he succeeds as DE who is a decent guy has already he couldn't go it alone to the next level the Championship not without financial backing.
