Enjoyed everything about today besides the behaviour of some of our supporters, who seem to particularly misbehave at Rovers year in, year out. Last season someone decided to racially abuse Ellis Harrison as he was warming up in front of the terrace, asking him if he fancied 'lending us a monkey', and today several people decided to call their left back, Bola, Ebola. I asked myself if I was reading too much into initially, until I heard someone follow it up with "you smelly black disease".
There's a huge difference between overly sanitising the match day and not being a vulgar, despicable, sub-human scumbag whose words have no place in society. No one is telling you that you can't swear or even shout a naughty word at somebody if you really can't survive without abusing another human being, but if we still aren't at the point where abusing somebody for their skin colour, or their genetically dictated physical appearance, is roundly frowned upon then I find that really sad.
I was ashamed for the second season running standing on that terrace today.

Couldn't have seen myself saying this a month ago, but I think I'd start Thomas providing he's fit. With Rothwell out, would be nice to be able to straight swap with Hall If Hall can play well on the left then I'd agree. Don't want to move Henry from the right so Mowatt might be a better swap for Rothwell on Tuesday. Rothwell is suspended for Tuesday so if expect Mowatt to come in

Excellent game of football, feisty at times but that's because the referee lost control and was too lenient..the brizzle player should have gone for the stamp on Henry.
We rode our luck at times but sometimes you need a little luck. Thought the back four looked solid again, not the best of games for Ribs and Ric but it was never going to be easy for them against the likes of Clarke & Sinclair, Sercs & Nichols but they generally marshalled their wingers well and Nelson & Mous dealt with the aerial balls excellently.
Henry was again excellent and the best player on the pitch imo , but all in all another very good all round team performance against a side who are very good at home.
I don't think there will be many sides that come away from Rovers with all three points this season.
Finally just feel I need to give a word for the officials.................................... Crap.

Yep - the person standing up to racism was moved while people stood up for and laughed along with the person making the comments. And nobody else said anything while it was getting heated or when I was essentially told to shove off by the stewards. Most people are okay with it, it seems, or at least don't care enough / are too intimidated to play a part in calling it out. The stewards heard the whole thing today - including one who was black himself - and didn't even glance over despite it happening several times throughout the first half. Anyway, that's all I'm saying in order to not completely derail the entire thread and turn it into some sort of nonsense debate. It'll only end in multiple people implying that literally anything is fair game on the terrace, and in me losing the will to live once and for all.

I heard nothing of this shit where I was stood, thankfully, otherwise I’d have pointed my 15 year-old mixed-race black belt daughter at them and hid behind her while she whupped their sorry asses.

A couple of quotes from their forum:
“Beaten by a better team who played the ball comfortably to feet. Not a terrible performance just no real quality. Another shocking referee!”
“If was a game of both teams throwing everything at it but buggering it up either down to poor finishing or solid defending.”
They were also annoyed by Ledson’s celebrations at FT seemingly. They look an upper mid-table side - they were compact on the whole and play to their strengths and targeted aerial mismatches in the full-back channels: those long diagonals targeting Ricardinho seemed a real problem in the first 25 minutes or so. Must be frustrating watching a hoof and header side, though, especially when they’ve got. A bit of quality in the middle of the park (Lines etc) that seems to get bypassed. Sercs didn’t do himself any favours with his gestures in the first half. Rightly given a tough time after that.

I would like to think 99.9% of supporters feel the way you do but it is a very risky thing to say something there and then. What is the club policy for reporting this stuff?

It's a shame in the manner that he departed the club as he was a good servant to the club. I suppose he could have rised above the jeering he received today and may be clapped the fans, that way I think he may have got a different response. Anyway, all in the past now and we won! Oh, and he didn't score!

He hadn't had any grief hurled at him before the foul (that didn't look like a foul) was given, cue a few ironic cheers from the terrace. It was only after him cupping his ears that he really got it. In my opinion it was just some Maguire-esque s**thousery at the earliest opportunity.

Most people are not ok with it. Idiots who shout such poison are cowards, because they only do it when they feel nice and safe, surrounded and protected by their idiot mates. Don't lose the will to live, you're not the minority.
I was there and did not hear. It's really bad that the stewards nearby didn't report it.

I witnessed the comotion at the Wellingtom after the game. All initiated by a bandannered, short of a sandwhich bouncer. Oxford fans returned to what was a friendly mixed pub before the game to a rather different reception. A table of Oxford fans, who all looked like reasonable, nice chaps to me. Where asked to leave for literally no reason. The dull bouncer initially asked them to keep it down (they were making little to no noise, just happy about a win), to then changing his mind and chucking them out. I went in to get a pint having observed this, next thing i know its chaos with riot vans and dogs. If the bouncer wasnt so thick, and the pub was consistent in its welcoming of away fans, the police wouldnt have been needed. Amazing what the affect of one rather dull individual can be. I can endorse evrything mentioned above as I also witnessed the bandannered protagonist inflame the situation. I was unsure at the time if he was a "bouncer" or not but I'm not totally surprised! If he is the "Wellingtons" official bouncer then they need to replace him with someone else. It should also be made clear whether the Wellington is out of bounds to away supporters after the match or not! I hope our OUFC supporting cop liaises with his Bristol compatriots on this matter. Luckily enough, I was only in the patioed area wondering how long it might take to get through the entrance door when it all started getting very ugly so I could move away from this very avoidable aggro!

Perhaps get in touch with our resident PC and give descriptions of the perpetrators, he could then inform his colleagues. The phantom smoke bomber was flushed out, eventually.

I'm sure there are other ways too, it's just the first result when I Googled a minute ago. They take the details provided and contact both clubs to investigate. www.kickitout.org/get-involved/report-it/online-reporting-form/On the game itself - great result. I punched the air so hard at full-time that I nearly put my arm out. Had a Wii baseball flashback for a moment. A more settled defense and Mr. Ruffels back in the team and all of a sudden we're back in business. I haven't seen the game yet - I'll watch it later - so will comment more when I have. But get f'n in... such a pleasing result.
