Credit to pep after a rocky month he seems to be learning this division and team with decent progress. Consistency and motivation every game are the next targets

Fantastic stuff. Pep seems to have learnt from his mistakes.
Curtis Nelson the best CB in this league by a distance. Will play Premiership.
If we had a top notch striker (Thomas is very good) we would be a scary prospect.

good write up from a Gas fan.
We weren't awful we were decent as were Oxford and it could have gone either way. I thought it was a good game between two sides who have both got aspirations of a play off place and in today's showing I think we'll finish top half again this season with our current squad. If we can make two or three good signings in January then we've got a chance of making the play offs and being competitive in them but we do need at least one more quick wide player, I said a few weeks ago if Bodin gets injured we'll struggle. Got to give credit they were outstanding defensively today we tried everything , low pass build up, long diagonal balls , get it out wide cross it in , but they were well solid and nicked the goal. No need for a meltdown we're doing alright. UTG.

I witnessed the comotion at the Wellingtom after the game. All initiated by a bandannered, short of a sandwhich bouncer. Oxford fans returned to what was a friendly mixed pub before the game to a rather different reception. A table of Oxford fans, who all looked like reasonable, nice chaps to me. Where asked to leave for literally no reason. The dull bouncer initially asked them to keep it down (they were making little to no noise, just happy about a win), to then changing his mind and chucking them out. I went in to get a pint having observed this, next thing i know its chaos with riot vans and dogs. If the bouncer wasnt so thick, and the pub was consistent in its welcoming of away fans, the police wouldnt have been needed. Amazing what the affect of one rather dull individual can be.

Just back - it was a cracking game and Oxford produced the bit of magic needed to break the deadlock with a fast counter attack late on that saw Mowatt finish calmly low into the corner past Slocombe.
Rovers impressed me in the first half with some pacy attacks and big diagonal switches for Harrison to head on to Gaffney. Thought Oxford had more quality in midfield and this told as the U’s were the better side second half. I agreed with a couple of callers to BBC Bristol Post match who also said it was a good, enjoyable, close game but Oxford had players who were technically superior overall. Rovers won’t lose too many at home as they play with lots of commitment, a high tempo and are physical. In Lines they have a good midfielder. Gaffney and Harrison look a good combo.
James Henry showed what a good a player he is today - top drawer quality all game. Nelson - his best game of the season. Lego - super commitment !

Every player dug in but Nelson was my MOM followed closely by Lego. I’m sure it was Lego that studded Henry in the stomach and I lost count of the amount of times he chased down his own clearances.
Not many teams will win there this season so the boys should be really proud of themselves......COYY!!!!

The Gas player ratings the last bit is interesting.Slocombe 6.5 Did what he had to do. Could work on his kicking
Partington 6 Lockyer 6 Broadbent 7 Bola 6 Both Bola and Partington did really good things, but also made mistakes
Lines 7.5 O. Clarke 6.5 Daft to lose his head Sercombe 7 Nichols 5 Too 'tippy-tappy'
Gaffney 6.5 Harrison 7.5
Subs: Sinclair 6 Moore 6 Telford 6 Looked dangerous but poor touch when through on goal
Crowd 7 Ref 6 Oxford 7.5 A really solid, organised outfit 'I have a dream......................'

Whereas with City we have always had a good relationship and cant remember any problems over the years.

Their stadium makes Toad Hall (Grenoble road) look palatial, and they have no atmosphere whatsoever. I think it must be difficult not to evolve into an angry little chav in those circumstances. Good beer though. Enjoy a pint of Gem. Doubt its brewed in Filton though.

Ok, I was one of the fans who called for Pep to go after 3 defeats.
Let's be honest they were 3 of the worst performances since we got back in the league. After three lacklustre performances you can't blame fans for overreacting. Very similar to fans saying we'll go up after two or three wins on the bounce.
But, credit where credits due. He's got it right. He bought Ruffles back, partnered Mousinho and Nelson. He's got Ribero back and got Thomas playing as the centre forward we know he can be.
Well done Pep!! #pepforengland 😁

All sorts of bother that day including the escorted away contingent being attacked at Bristol temple meads....smoke bombs and all.

Depends how far you're going back., I recall we took good numbers to Ashton gate in the mid-late seventies, had some lively encounters before during and after the match, no segregation then of course, and loads of U's fans got in their main end, tbh was surprised how massive their stand was, and we were surrounded but stayed put until the constabulary moved us. All part and parcel of football then.
