And moving on from my previous comment which is quite harsh for me. Why does anyone at the club think that he's done enough in his career to warrant an £800k fee. It seems that even Slavia Prague got shot of him after only 7 games.

Don't think GvK is all that. Doesn't close down or track back and isn't capable of playing up front alone. Amazing debut goal but besides that I've been largely unimpressed. We have multiple players who are technically gifted but can still put the work in, so you can't say that work rate and teamwork has to suffer in return for the odd moment of brilliance. To me he's just a bit too much like that kid in the playground who thinks he's amazing and doesn't want to do anything but stand up front and shoot. After yesterday does anybody now feel the same?

He's a flash in the pan player who is taking up a wage we would be better spending elsewhere. He can't play through the middle or lead the line, he's ineffective when starting games.

He is starting to remind me of Steve Anthrobus!
Great match winning goal in his first league appearance. Fans thinking f*cking hell, we've got a diamond here and then the slow realisation that we have infact got a complete donkey on our hands.
I predict that GvK will next score v Blackburn (away) and in 2019 will probably get done for shagging some bird in a field in the Czech Republic somewhere.

Gino will miss the game against Wimbledon as he has been called up by Curacao to face Qatar on October 10. If we are short on players in 2 weeks time that could be a concern going into the Wimbledon game.

Anyone know if Napa loan runs out this week, think its a month loan? Maybe with Gino on international duty and amount of injuries we have, this could be the perfect time for us to try him out.
Gino on Int duty he will be a miss. Without him, Hall and Henry would be our only recognised wingers for Wimbledon game.
Hopefully Gino going away for a a few days can help him regain some fire we saw on his debut.

Given our lack of depth in the squad surely allowing him to play in a friendly match, even at international level, is irresponsible?

Gino should watch Match of the Day showing Manchester United against Southampton, in the analysis it shows how Rashford tracked back efficiently. Simple tracking back by players can mean so much for a team defensively.

Does anyone actually know where Curaçao is? The Caribbean. Ta, can't say I ever heard of it though. Perhaps the hurricanes over there could be an excuse for his performances? (Desperately trying to be optimistic)

I still think Gino could be a really useful player, he just needs to be coached very, very well and accept his defensive responsibilities.
Firstly, though, we (the coaching staff and fans) need to accept that he's not a lone striker. I hope we never see him in that position again.
For all his technical deficiencies, he's very fast and very direct. He can cause opposition defences problems on the break and when in one on one situations. Although his goal against Pompey stands out as his best moment, cameos against MK Dons and Bradford show the impact he can have without scoring.

I actually didn't think he was THAT bad tonight. There was certainly worse players. Early in the second half when he was slipped through he showed his pace, power and nearly scored. I just don't think he has a football brain, of any sort.

I think he's only going to be any good up front in a two. He won't defend and track back which makes playing him on the wing a liability, and he can't play the lone striker. But it looks like alongside a physical player to hold the ball, win headers and do the dirty work, he might be okay. He does look to play on the shoulder and is only interested in running towards goal, so it looks like this is the only logical role that might see him be effective. There are many reasons why no other role will suit him and basically none as to why they might, presently.
