I'd like to see him get a run in the team on the left in place of Henry. He can't play the lone striker role as good a Obika or Thomas, but on the left of of a 3, I reckon he'll score a load.
Pretty much every time I've seen him play, he works the keeper with his shots, apart from Bradford when he turned his shot into a cross field pass!!

Is it just me who thinks it strange that there has been no official announcement about this from the club?

The 800k option to buy Gino is interesting... surely too much for a league 1 club. I'm guessing they reckon they can get him up to scratch and then sign him in for our first season in the champ?

Or (if he has a stunning season) buy him and then sell him on for a profit? Are you even allowed to do that?

He needs to settle down off the pitch. Very excitable. Novelty will soon wear thin if the goals dry up

That would explain the police presence and the 'beware GVK' signs I encounter on my way to wild west oxfordshire

Chicken George V2017. That's a compliment by the way! I was thinking the exact thing..however Chicken George was better defensively if I recall. It was the almost vertical shot that ended up out on the wing that evoked the memories. Lawrence was brilliant when things worked.....hilariously bad when things didn't!!!

Today confirmed gvk can't play as the central striker with one up top. He hasn't got the close control or strength to do it.
Sent from my SM-G930F using proboards

Agreed, he's never a lone striker in my opinion but has real quality cutting in off the left of the 3 behind the striker.

Sent from my SM-G930F using pro boards When we bought him he thought he'd play as a winger, if a footballers not playing there position its hard for them to be fully effective To me I t was obvious that we needed to push two up front. Even though Thomas was having a poor game he was made the scape goat. We were so deep allowing Blackpool to come at us at will. The central defenders needed to bring the ball out and committ one or two of their players in order to find space/holes further up the pitch. Saying that, I'm really surprised how uncomfortable Williamson is with the ball at his feet, especially the level he has played at. Our centre midfield pairing were poor today. The amount of times Rothwell lost the ball or held onto too long when an easy pass was on, was unbelievable. Conceding two goals in a short space of time, feeling harried on the ball and not be able to find our players cost us today. We needed to be more composed, bring the ball out of defence even if it was 10 yards, pass the ball quicker, again, even if it was a simple pass, and have two players up top to pin them back or have something else to worry about. The moving to three in defence was another 'accommodating' players move. Williamson should have come off, moved Mousinho in with Nelson with Canice coming in at right back. And we should fave pushed Payne further up the pitch to be closer to Thomas.

Wes was by no means the worst player on the pitch, and it wasn't his fault that we were two down, but taking him off was absolutely correct. He isn't a L1 player, and was showing it for the umpteenth time.

Not convinced as his lack of control or competence on the ball will always be of detriment to the team. Sometimes can be effective running the channels, but it does t really matter if you can't do anything with it afterwards. Obika up top with Payne, Hall, Mowatt, Rothwell, Ruffels, Henry etc playing off him. That's the way to go.

Xemi could do that role so could payne but why play with a out and out striker why not a false 9 type of player we don't need a full out striker anymore our team doesn't play like that we don't rely on strikers anymore

Don't think GvK is all that. Doesn't close down or track back and isn't capable of playing up front alone. Amazing debut goal but besides that I've been largely unimpressed. We have multiple players who are technically gifted but can still put the work in, so you can't say that work rate and teamwork has to suffer in return for the odd moment of brilliance. To me he's just a bit too much like that kid in the playground who thinks he's amazing and doesn't want to do anything but stand up front and shoot.

Doesn't track back and leaves us exposed defensively. He was strolling and trotting about at Scunthorpe when they doubled up down his side, cut in and struck the winner. He could run, especially when he's only come on for the last 30 minutes, but chooses not to. That isn't good enough and there's no excuse for not tracking back. If he can't do that then he can't be classed as good in any position. He leaves us very exposed when literally just running would make him useful.
