OUFC appears to be turning in the United Nations. Joking aside, looks like one of those signings that could go either way. Pep obviously knows him from his Malmo days, so if his judgement on Ricardinho is anything to go by, this could be an inspired signing. Let's just wait and see before passing judgement.
Welcome to the club Agon.

Welcome to the club Agon. From his ifollow interview, it sounds like Pep was someone who really managed to get the best of him. He's assembling a team of players who are out of favour, but who he knows how he wants to use them. Watching obika and van kessel against MK, we know they can get in behind defences, now we need someone who knows where to be to finish things off.

Looking as others will at Wikipedia, this signing looks well below the quality level that I'd expect from a Lge 1 player. Here's hoping the plane journey turns him into a goal-scoring striker. What a positive person you are. What is the quality level that would meet your approval?

It's takes a special sort of intelligence to dismiss a player on the basis of playing in Serie B, the Champions League and the Turkish Super League. Could not have put it better myself. Worse than that though, for him to come back on the thread and try to wriggle out of it by denying what he'd wrote. Really have seen it all now... Got to remember old bash doesn't like foreigners much. He prefers Tommy Robinson.

It has been said on this forum that the lone forward wont score many goals but hold up the ball until others can (and that we don't have anyone on the books of that type). It's just possible that he is just such a player. We can only hope.

Comes across well in his interview on ifollow. Honest about his lack of match fitness but very keen to get to work and very happy to be working with Pep again. Sounds positive and that is always a good start. As to his level of skill, we can only speculate but would Pep bring him in if he wasn't sure that there was something useful? Let's hope his injury prone past is just that, in the past!

I tend to find judging a striker on his goals for on wiki, is less effective than watching him play Excepting players at the start of their career, like Roofs or McAleny, who are you thinking of who hadn't scored many on wiki but subsequently turned into a goalscoring machine. I tend to find that strikers confirm to an established career pattern by the time they are 25 or so. Beano: 20 goals in Conf; 12 goals in League 2... Hylts: 20 goals in League 2; 12 goals in League 1 Ryan Taylor: 6 goals a season Obika: 10 goals a season They all have their level at which they score goals and a level at which they struggle.

My own four penn'orth, FWIW; excited like a little schoolboy at this development.
We've clearly got ourselves a smart operator of a manager who knows when to hold'em, knows when to fold'em. Players like his ways and want to play for him. Perhaps not all his signings will work out but most will, and our squad now has depth and versatility for most every occasion. The make-up of the squad by position is just right, and we'll give the top two a bloody good shake this season now, barring disastrous injuries.
Plus; was there EVER an era, glory years or Argentine nepotism specials - when we had no fewer than FIVE full internationals in the squad?
Let the good times roll!

I thought we'd signed a lesser known character from Game of Thrones at first. Intriguingly, the main protagonist in Game of Thrones's real name was revealed to be Aegon Targaryan in the season finale last week. Pep must be a fan!

Well like with obika maybe he's not the type of striker that scores 20 a season but can play the lone role well. Creating for others ? We don't have any other striker on the books that can play that role so competition/cover would be great. U can't claim to have better knowledge of obika than us thickos as u have watched him 10 whole times, and then the next day say u can also judge a player from how many goals he's scored on Wikipedia 😉

Colleague says 'He was malmös answer to Filippo Inzaghi' - there is a song about him too the song lyrics are: He is thin as a smoked eel, but still he scores. Agon Mehmeti, Agon Mehmeti. Not a song that really appeals if I'm honest!

Maybe Pep looking at playing him up top with Obika? Considering the Mousinho signing and potential 3 at the back, might play something like 3-5-2, Obika the muscle with Mehmeti banging them in

Pep does seem to like signing players with an "i" in the name. I hope the club shop are well stocked up with that letter for shirt printing.

My lads been doing research on him and says that Turkish fans reckon we'll be lucky if he ever turns up for training sober. Just what he's found on some forum or other. No idea if there is truth in thus or not 😐

How dare I question the footballing prowess of Gençlerbirliği S.K. Top top club. Let's not forget about the quality of Novara of Serie B. Also, who is dismissing the player? Looks like another case of 'Cannell makes stuff up'... I don't know how many Crystal Palace fans were questioning the quality of Gençlerbirliği when Mile Jedinak arrived from them, or Real Madrid fans when Geremi moved from them. They aren't an A-lister club, but it's ridiculous to level this sort of comment at them when they've played Uefa Cup and Champions League football in the last decade. To try to take some middle ground, perhaps it would be fair to say that it is as foolish to write off a player on the basis of the size of club they arrive from as it is to over-hype them on the same basis..

They haven't played Europa cup/Uefa in the last decade either. They did win the Turkish league in 1946 though. Mehmeti played in the Europa league for Stabaek they lost to Connahs Quay from Wales. www.whoscored.com/Players/38933/Show/Agon-MehmetiStrengths, Holding on to the ball, Weakness's, Aerial duals, finishing, defensive contribution,
