Shrewsbury gave us a difficult game. We was very sloppy at times though. 7 points at this time of season is still good.

No matter what Pep says, we're still two attacking players away from competing. We were very thin on the bench in terms of attacking options. One winger and one striker need to come in if we want to score more regularly.

Poor performance punctuated by a few seconds of decent link up play. Probably deserved to lose but 7 points from 4 is solid.
Do not feel bad if you missed this one

Disappointing. Never really got going. The subs made a big difference, Gino is much better not as the hold up guy, obika causes defenders trouble. And him and rothwell showed what little hall and Henry had offered. Didn't think ribs and silva got forward as much in support today. Pretty lucky that when they got their chances they wasted them. Williamson looked uncharacteristically shaken at times. Plus point for me was Payne, always looking to create something or run with it, and when he hasn't got the ball he's there hassling, chasing and nipping at the ankles of the other side.

We were extremely poor, giving the ball away too easily too many times. We gave them too many opportunities. Fourth game in but we should be beating teams such as this at home.
If Pep didn't see the need for a striker today, it's going to be a long winter. I wonder where he thinks the goals are going to come from on?

Said it before and will say it again, there will be inconsistencies in the first few months until Pep gets settled and knows his squad (with or without Johnson, loans etc.). Don't be surprised if we have an even win-draw-loss record and goal difference at christmas. What if he gets to know his side by mid October, and sees we're not scoring goals, what will he do then?

A game we just about didn't deserve to lose. But we sure as hell didn't deserve to win

Obika has to start next game. We deffinitely need another forward player. Think we should start Rothwell at home in the middle also.

Watched the full 90, thought it was the worst we've played all season. Too many players underperforming with the exception of possibly Ricardinho and Payne (and the subs).
In general, we gave the ball away far too cheaply and if you keep doing that you get punished. And we were (Ruffles at fault for their goal, but we still had chances to get the ball away). Very lucky to come away with a point, i hope its just a bad day at the office but there are a few concerns after today's performance.
Credit to Shrews, they worked hard and looked a decent team.

Shrewsbury have improved a lot this season.
Fair result, although think they shaded it.
We move on.

A hard match punctuated by an odd performance from the officials. I'm not sure what needed to happen to get a free kick in the second half for us, and the lack of penalty in the first was bewildering. Considering the numerous soft free kicks they got all game, we weren't obliged for much of anything. The corner we didn't get was a shocker - the lino and ref looked at each other and bottled it. I felt sorry for Nelson as he kept getting taken out and nary a play from the Ref Gino cannot play the lone striker role - he just didn't look interested and came alive once Obika came on. Hall was terrible and cost us when he was on the pitch. He didn't get into the game.
Not the end of the world, but we need at least more bodies in the squad for me.

Hall and Henry both have an annoying habit of not moving until they have the ball, so many times if they had made a run they could have been played through or over the top for them to run onto

Shrewsbury were a decent team, but until the mad last ten minutes, they didn't create a chance of note.
As I said in my previous post, our struggles were mainly caused by the fact that Gino was unable to hold the ball up. As a result they were able to press high up the pitch and the ball just kept coming back at us.
We looked so much better when Obika and Rothwell came on. Their CB's were given something to think about, and our passing became much quicker. I think both should start at MK.
I thought Henry was mostly poor. He does have some nice touches times, but overall he just doesn't offer enough. He's often ponderous and gets beaten to the ball far too easily. Perhaps he might be better in the number ten role, but we have better options there (in my opinion).
I also thought Gino didn't have a great game. I think we can rule out him being able to play as a lone striker. Which confirms my belief that we need another (out and out striker).
On the whole it was a disappointing performance. At times it felt a bit like a pre-season match. The turnout from their fans was shockingly poor given their start to the season (how do clubs that small have any success in this division?).
I simply can't agree with Pep's assessment that we aren't lacking any players. We have two 'proper' strikers, neither of whom have proved themselves capable of playing a full season. We're lacking depth at the back, too. Nelson went down at one point and I just thought 'we're fucked'. Same with Ricardinho.
On the plus side, seven points is a good return from the first four matches. It'd be fantastic if we're able to make it ten from five next week at MK.

To me, the game in the Shitabrick Trophy changes nothing, we must start at the Franchise with the personnel we ended this game with.

And yes, 7 from a possible 12 at this stage is pretty decent. If we win at the MKymouse Dons next week then that will be 10 from a 5-game-block, something we never achieved last season.
