Since we are still in the phase of getting the side together any result can happen. In the league Shrewsbury have played three sides neat the bottom and won all three. We have played two sides near the bottom and won both. The one good side we have played we lost to, so 0-0 might not be so bad after all.

Expect a win from this one if i'm honest, the three teams Shrewsbury bave played so far have a combined 2 points between them. I would like to think we can beat them comfortably 2-0. Gino and Henry goals.

I think we'll shade this one 2-1, but that Shrewsbury will be much better than people think and we'll have to really dig in.
EDIT: Just seen that Carlton Morris plays for them, i.e. one of the worst professional footballers I've ever seen. So he'll get the goal for them.

Comfortable win for Oxford in my opinion. Although Shrewsbury have started well Oxford will be their first difficult test. The goals they scored against Rochdale came as a result of very poor defending which Oxford won't do and because of that I think they will find it hard to break us down. Going for a 3-0 Oxford win.

Can see it being a bit of a scrappy game, don't think there's too much in it between us two. Henry will come good, scoring a FK early before Payne scores on the break late on after some Shrewsbury pressure.

I think we can beat them, but the Shrews will be fired up with their 3 out of 3 wins. I'm expecting it to be a tough game.

Their manager and players are already thinking about how hard the game will be for them which is never a good mindset to go into a game.

It will be a tough game but certainly doable Shrews fans some are hoping to go for a clean sweep of wins in August, but I think they will find it difficult. Also on their forum they're mentioning Tyler Roberts gone on loan to Walsall

I never ever get the prediction right but what the heck, 2-0 Nelson from a corner and Gino from a counter attack.
So, nothing anything like the above will happen, but we will win. Deffo.

Really interesting comment, simply considering where we finished last season, and the fact that Shrewsbury finished just 2 points outside of relegation. I agree, but why do we not therefore have more confidence in a win?

Anyone know if Thomas is fit? Think I heard Radox say he picked up a knock at Scunny. He went back to training on Thursday I believe so should be fit. I think Gino is likely to start up top tomorrow though.

Really interesting comment, simply considering where we finished last season, and the fact that Shrewsbury finished just 2 points outside of relegation. I agree, but why do we not therefore have more confidence in a win? To be honest, my work college's a Shrewsbury fan so I reckon he's in my head a bit after the stick he's given me for the last week! I was at their place last season for the game last season and thought they looked pretty solid, although admittedly we were poor. Presuming they'll be high on confidence (even if wins were easy) and they've bought in a couple of "decent lads" so will be close IMO, but these are the games we must be winning if we're serious about getting play-offs (my optimistic target). EDIT: blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/95222/match-thread-oxford-united-shrewsbury - They don't sound too confident

My invaluable prediction for the game against Shrewsbury is: Oxford United 4 (Ruffles 2, Bird Beak & Hall) Shrewsbury 2 Att: 7687 and 455 Shrewd Shrew fans. Great game, great atmosphere and great half-time entertainment, with the local strip club doing their bit on the half-way line. I'm a bit worried about 'Clint' Eastwood, though. For some reason, I see him coming out, playing a guitar. I don't mean 'coming out' in a gay way, but running onto the pitch, before the game, doing an Elvis Presley impression. 'Bird Beak' Obika will take his name literally, and start doing chicken impressions - and get booked by the ref. Ribiero will have a blinder of a game. The scoreboard will malfunction at some stage. Someone will be stretchered off with a ruptured coccyx. Oxford United will announce a takeover plan, by a certain Mr. D. Trump. It will be turned down, by Oxvox (quite right). A dog will run onto the pitch and bite their goalkeeper, who will chase the dog and bite it back. That just about does it for me.
