Bit edgy in the first half. Close game, even though I think we were the better team and looked more dangerous. Second half though, it all changed. Players started to look for more space, providing options going forward and it took a matter of minutes for that to make a difference.
Ribs played really well. I didn't see the Cheltenham game, but thought he had a good game against Oldham, too. Ricardinho played well; really grew into the game. Impressed he managed a full 90 minutes. Some really nice passes as well.
How far do you think Payne's little legs carried him today? The lad didn't stop running.
Gino. My oh my! What a debut. I thought his touch when he cut back inside was a little heavy but had the pace and ability to get to the ball, open up his body and slot it away. Great scenes. Also loved how he was willing to put himself about a bit. He looks very physically capable.
Williamson and Nelson look really good together. Can only get better as their partnership and understanding develops.
Credit to Thomas as well. As a critic of his in the past, I'm happy to see him prove me wrong - long may it continue. Really like how he's willing to close down, forcing the defenders to play. Did the same against Oldham.
2 clean sheets, 5 goals, 6 points and top of the league... I'm not going to get carried away, but I'm going to bloody enjoy it!

Absolutely loved today. A couple of times during the first half approaching half time I felt like falling asleep. But the second half every player was outstanding. Eastwood was at his best. Jack Payne, we must pull out all the stops and sign him permanently. Gino what a revelation....and Wes Thomas didn't he take his goal well. I'm glad the Cheltenham debacle is behind us. Such a shame w have a long term injury already. The season looks promising. And great to see the lies of Blackburn and Southend well beaten

Have a Windows machine (Dell laptop), and used Chrome. I first opened up iFollow and got the video going. Later on opened up another tab, went back to oufc.co.uk and opened iFollow again, but this time went to the "listen" tab rather than "watch". First half (and last week) I watched and missed the commentary, and thought that I had to choose one or the other. But opening a new tab did the trick. The only problem is the delay in the video, but it was still worth it. Cheers...and good luck getting both! Jon, Maybe you can help me out. I like chrome but it won't let me log-in. I can with Edge. Any ideas? Andy I have no idea why that would be. What would happen if you uninstalled Edge (temporarily, I mean), and only had Chrome up and running? Would it still not let you log in? But in any case, it shouldn't be any different opening two tabs on Edge, should it? In answer to someone else who wrote about this issue, I think that iFollow must look for the IP address of the machine (not the browser you use), and therefore so long as you're using the same machine you ought to be able to have several tabs open, each of which has iFollow. I know that when I opened the second tab I didn't have to go through the log-in process again--iFollow just opened right up so that I could have video going on one tab and the audio commentary on the other. Hope that helps, Jon

Total contrast with Tuesday. Entertaining, exciting and so good to see players growing into the game. And, what a couple of debuts! Ricardinho and Gino! Ricardinho looks the business, good tackling, good recovery and top marks for looking up and spotting the player to pass to, so refreshing to see. Gino, well, what can you say? Comes on gets the ball, out foxes two defenders and puts the ball in the net, brilliant!
The best is driving back home feeling that all is well with the world.

I know it been said that Darryl has cut backroom staff- but the appointment of the big brother announcer is a touch of genius. That motm announcement was genius. Can the new scoreboard do subtitles? Would prefer someone with a broad West Oxfordshire accent.😉 Step forward.......me! I could do that PA stuff even though I do sound like one of the wurzels.😀

Very impressive. Happy Kip Bollocks. Great performance today - thought Pompey were garbage second half and really we could have scored more.

Superb goals well taken and as for Gino's absolute class oh and here is a comment from Kenny Jacket about Pitmans disallowed goal looked a good goal from Brett, but you always get decisions like that and we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

Just looked at the table and to see the plastics, the mouthy twats from Bristol and the second best team in League Two with zero points, makes today a tiny bit sweeter, I must admit. Good to see Blackburn losing again, too.

Finally sat down after a brilliant day.
Ginoooooo will steal the headlines but there are a lot of players today who were truly excellent. Despite being weeks behind the rest of the squad, Ricardinho came in an was almost faultless. Very composed on the ball and good going forward. He could be quite something once fully fit. I was very critical of Ribeiro midweek but I thought he was much improved today. He, too, was great going forward and looked solid defensively. Nelson and Williamson looked rock solid. Brilliant in the air.
Ruffels and Ledson are forming quite a partnership and once again gave Payne the freedom to push on and cause havoc. Thought Thomas ran himself into the ground today, as did Obika when he came on. Playing one up top puts a lot of physical strain on the lone-man but I think they both look capable of leading the line.
All three subs imposed themselves positively on the game: Van Kessel for obvious reasons, but Robbie Hall was a menace down the right flank and eased a lot of pressure on the defence by carrying the ball out of trouble.
Things are looking good but still early days. The players deserve their 2 day break.
Onto Scunny! COYY!

Bought a Fulham supporting mate along to game today who knows his football.
Told me at half time that if Clotet told our team to play more off the cuff Pompey were toast.
Looked like he did!
It was almost as if we spent the first half sussing out what they had got, analysed it, concluded Pompey were limited - and then destroyed them in round 2.
Highly impressive team performance.
Man of the match- by a mile - Ricardinho.
Great atmosphere.
One caveat. Pompey on that showing - are bottom six fodder..

On Tuesday night, particularly in the second half, we were bottom six fodder, and Portsmouth played a lot better today than we did on Tuesday!

Jack Payne for me. Break the bank and sign him.

I would say that was the perfect game. Suss them out without playing that well the exploit them second half.
We haven't connected fully yet but once we do then wow!
I would say Ribs was our weak spot today in the first half.

W I would say Ribs was our weak spot today in the first half. Always amazed by the differences in supporters views. Thought Ribs was our most dangerous player in the first half, could have had 3 assists after driving in dangerous quality crosses. Still great overall performance and healthy 3 points. Team shows great fitness and trickery. Just need a bit more composure at times and pass the ball quicker to exploit the spare man. hope we take this performance to Scunny next week. 👍

Man of the match- by a mile - Ricardinho. Too right. It did seem after half-time like we'd been sizing up the prey. May it last. Our support wasn't all that by a country mile.
