Depends what side Pep puts out. It there are wholesale changes then maybe a draw. Otherwise an easy win.

A group of professionals should be dispatching pub-teams with ease.

Cheltenham boss Gary Johnson on tomorrow night.

A chance to stick a few goals in here. Cheltenham have a small squad and aren't particularly high on quality. Johnson cuts a very dejected figure there; a man who is probably very aware that just staying in the league and not getting into a scrap that lasts the whole season is a win. It's important to remain professional, of course, and if the attitude is right this should be relatively routine.
I'll go 3-1 with goals from Rothwell, Obika and Payne.

Lots of very confident scores on here - hope it's well placed! If you can't be confident against one of the weakest sides we could of got then it wouldn't say much for our hopes this season. It's actually nice to be able to be cocky about a game in the league cup for the first time in years, wonder when the last time we were such heavy favourites for a game in this competition was?

Potential banana skin here a lot of confident predictions = 3:0 to the mighty yellows. Hopefully a couple of fringe players get game time because we will need them at some point this season. COYY

Not saying it won't happen but you never know with sport. Fancy some of the fringe players will want to make their mark if given their chance - all the more reason to rotate the squad for me.

Oxford United 5 (Bird Beak 2, Johnson, On me 'ed son and Ruffle the hair) Cheltnumb 0 Att: 4766 and 566 away fans. Pretty routine, really. No fractured clavicles, no displaced coccyxes and no hernias. Ribiero will catch a cold, though, and be out for three weeks. All the new blokes will play, apart from the new Swede, of course. The scoreboard will malfunction, somehow. The hot dog stand will be moved from the East stand to the open end for some boring reason. Before the game starts, John Bird Beak will apologise for having played for the Scum, in a previous life. He will not be forgiven. Shame. That just about does it for me. Shit I nearly forgot - a you-know-what will run onto the pitch!

Over the years we have been good at ending teams poor form, I can remember many a nailed on win game turning into losing to a supposed no hope team, things have changed recently but there is always that feeling that over confidence is not our friend.

Yeah but we were a bit shit ourselves for a lot of those times, and up against sides of a similar level. At most Cheltenham would get 1 or 2 in our squad, so it's not really over confidence to say we should beat them, maybe not as comfortably as some are suggesting. If Pep plays best team then this should be a win, and it will a very poor result if we don't win.

I'd be happy with those that need it getting game time, no injuries, no suspensions, a win and then a decent draw next round

First time I'm going to a league cup match for a few years, mainly because the boy has bugged me about it 2-0 if Eastwood plays 2-1 if Shearer between the sticks

Think we will win this 3 or 4-1. We March on to the 2nd round and draw West Ham Away, but will play them at the Kassam instead.

Interesting team selection conundrum for Pep tonight. We have key players like Payne who would probably benefit from extra games to improve match fitness and then genuine first team contenders such as Hall and Obika who also need games. Likewise one of the new fullbacks plus Martin will need a start. Against this there is an opportunity to give those who played Saturday more game time to get used to each other. If it were me I would start with Obika (Thomas) and Hall (Henry) move Johnson forward and if play Carroll at left back.

I'd like to see as close to a first team as possible, unless anyone's looking likely to pick up an injury.
Whether Pep knows what his first team is yet is a whole different issue of course.
