Well that's a better start than that Appleton fella managed. Get in . Get ruffels on a 3 year deal now I tell u Who's to say he wouldn't have raced past Lunny in the pecking order this year anyway? As long as the fee is re-invested wisely then it might turn out to be the most astute piece of business in yonks.

Excellent, excellent start - although I don't think Oldham will be contenders at the end of the season. Also we have players to come back from injury and hopefully another one or two in to strengthen us still further.
Good to see Josh Ruffels keeping up his form from the end of last season and Payne sounds like an inspired loan in.
I think I'll have to go to the League Cup game, I can't wait until Saturday for football!

Great result, very good performance. Lots of energy and desire from the first whistle. Really enjoyed watching that.

Good away win from a place we've struggled at previously. Great to actually play on Oldham's pitch whilst it's actually got some grass on it.
Just another 45 games to go then!

Fantastic start, builds more confidence. How were the players individually for those that went. Also as a team/system?

Just got to the car and can i just say WOW Jack Payne looks to good for league 1. We managed to grind out a win against a very physical Oldham side, something we didn't succeed very often under MAPP. Questionable first goal for us if i'm honest, initial thought was offside, but honestly who gives a f*ck it was given. Williamson and Nelson looked decent and could be a very good partnership if we keep them both fit. Honestly i was not very confident in the line up when i looked at the line up. ROB HALL the best player in pre season was on the bench. Roll on POMPEEEEEY next week, THD went of injured today and then there replacement LB went and got sent off. SO I CANNOT WAIT. COYY
ALSO PAYNE IS APPARENTLY NOT FULLY FIT.

ican'tFollow is utterly pathetic...just stopped broadcasting from RadOx (though was able to go to the BBC site). I gave up watching because it kept on dropping out, and I missed a load. And how stupid, to have to choose between video with no commentary or commentary with no video.

On the way home now.
Glad we showed up today, usually after nightmare journeys like that we lose!
Payne was absolutely class. Much better having him at no10 than Maguire because his first thought is to find the open man, not go for it himself.
The defence was solid against Oldham's incredibly direct style. Although it showed again that Johnson just isn't a left back. Play Carroll there until the Brazilian is fit.
All in all it was a solid performance and a good first win. On to the next one. It's bloody good to be back.

Bloody Good performance that. Payne was very tricky. Ledson ruffels and rothwell dominated in midfield and johnson looked a class apart. Nelson won just about everything he was that good. We could have won by more.

I watched on ifollow. Good team performance. Defended very well. I thought Williamson made a big difference, strong and organised very well with nelson. Midfield was good. Ledson strong and ruffles played very well. Thomas up front looked sharper than I've seen before took his chance well. Should have scored another in the first half when screwed his shot wide. I also liked the look of obika. Holds it up much better than Thomas but he should also have scored or passed when his chance came.
Didn't think much of oldham. Just 1 good chance in the 1st half as I remember
Payne was very good chased everything but it didn't quite come off for him today.

Jack Payne a class above. I think an improvement on Maguire. Also the perfect foil for our strikers, who are finishers, he'll create a bucketload of chances this year for them to put away.
Very impressed with Williamson. I think the whole performance was very professional, and having calm older heads like him jn the team (and tbh the squad in general) will have contributed to that.
Obika with some good touches and Wes put in a shift, so pretty pleased with how the front line performed today.
We could and probably should have had more! Their keeper made a couple of really good saves and we made the wrong decisions once or twice (Obika, Rothwell) but overall very, very promising.

On the M6 back down south!
Defence looked pretty solid, Johnson for me didn't look overly interested, maybe as he was playing left back but wasn't as explosive as normal. Needs to play left wing and hopefully will when our Brazilian is fit.
Rothwell was quiet but is wasted out wide, ledson and ruffles were quality. Payne was outstanding. Really excited to see him for the rest of the season, the ball inside he defender with the outside of his left foot was class. Henry was quiet for me but did ok.
Thomas had a tough time up against Clarke and Gerard. Good finish for the goal but wasn't given much else other than that. Obika looked quite strong and quick when he came on.
Payne for me MOM by far! Quality.
Bring on the Pompey bells!

Wow, what a performance on the opening day in a pretty decent old stadium. Everybody was up for it, none moreso than Payne.
A few stronger teams would have bagged a goal against us here or there but defence was relatively stable. Our midfield could be the best in the league come Xmas. Pleasantly surprised by Obika.

There's no other way though is there? Gave up with the live chat nonsense and sent them an email instead. Just cannot understand why it has to be so bloody difficult to organise a simple streaming service. Why would we not want to get the audio feed from Radox at half time? Can't get it anywhere else unless within FM range. Email address for anyone else inclined is: iFollow@efl.com

Shame we couldn't match what Fleetwood were offering We did. Its just that it goes a lot further in the North West, and he is near his family and mates. Exactly. The only other option was moving the club 150 miles further north. Not really that practical.
