One thing this competition has shown us is how bad the Prem/Champ under 21 teams are.

Bradford. Good game you all missed tonight, a morale boosting victory against one of the supposedly better teams in league one. I'd rather miss a good game than put the future of lower league football in jeopardy to be truly honest.

I live less than 4 miles from the stadium as well. I guess I have to congratulate us for winning again and keeping a good spell of games going (Northampton aside). Good to see Hemmings crack the double figures as well. Let's hope he takes that into his league form.

Im glad we won tonight dont get me wrong. There was one more fan there tonight than away on Saturday, and it had me asking whether there was something morally wrong with boycotting a trophy, in which invariably we play almost 5 of the 50 or so games each season, and then go to Wembley! They were the bookies favourites so I think a "get on now" is called for 8/1 ish maybe? Think DE is also missing a trick not offering free admission to season ticket holders. Get an atmosphere DE, continue the Goodwill and attract even more in return.
Because of general fatigue at the end of the season though, this competition is a liability to a club like ours though*. Its wierd that companies like Checkatrade seem to live in timewarp and are still buying into the concept that the best way to support football, especially at the lower (grass roots) level, is to sponsor a meaningless (and mocked) trophy "in name". I think as a branding exercise, it would be better to sponsor widespread lower league academies, including our own, and reach out to give opportunities to millions of working class L1/l2 people (lol) and tailor the TV ads to reflect that - Goodwill breeds Goodwill rather than have your company name on some obscure record book. Who one earth is their director of marketing?!
*relatively low income unless a Wembley visit versus risk of injury to players. Im no stato so dont keep track of who got injured where, but we have long term injury problems and some may have come from Checkatrade(?) so you have to weigh up the season-long opportunity cost of those versus the monetary benefits - we dont have a huge squad so maybe worked against us this year? Could be worse though... could a S**m fan and be out of everything, 8 points adrift of us and played a game more, and when that "summer" (they call it over there) comes, and that hot tin roof starts to broil them every Saturday, we can smile, knowing the Jimmy Savilles of England are checking their mobiles, struggling to keep awake on a Saturday and going home every week in tears, oblivious to "the inevitable" and worrying that next years away trip to Lincoln falls on the day the annual pilgrimage arrives from Russia.
As well as on the field, there is also a need, commercially, to offer something different off it, through the fan base. I think tonight for example, would have been a great opportunity for DE to invite all of the choirs, from all of the Oxford colleges. He could have put them in a stand and had them sing harmonies over Oxford favourites such as "Yellow Submarine" - in act to turn all of the supporters into one male choir. sing F**king Stars Wars to the opposition and have the half time announcements in the voice of Darth Vader - freak out the opposition - AND you will be on telly every week..... tbc

It's good to see our service charge is invested wisely maintaining the stadium to a good standard. What does Firoka do with the money? Spend it on hookers and blow?
A big confidence for Hemmings tonight though. And providing competition for Maguire in the leading goal scorer race.

Obviously a good win but I sincerely hope that we do not go to Wembley. I will not attend any game in this competition out of principle, and so it will be incredibly hard to miss seeing us play there without knowing when the next time will come. Having strong principles: Good Missing supporting our team at Wembley: Not quite so good Whatever you think about the nature of the competition we're talking about our team, who deserve our support. Not that I can give it too often, and even managed to miss out on the Bolton game that I'd been hoping for (or a decent home game in the Cup, as I managed last year) when booking a week's holiday. Even worse, came down with a virus...which meant a very miserable flight back from Heathrow.

I'm a big believer in the B Team Boycott, but I must admit that a Wembley final would be a tough thing to turn down. It looks very unlikely that Swansea U21s will get through to the final if the other U21 sides' results are anything to go by, the Whole Game Solution has been scrapped (for now) and the whole of the EFL has seen what an abject failure the competition has been, because of the success of the boycott. Plus, it's looking like it'd be a very winnable tie whoever we draw if we get to the final, it would be great to see us win the competition we failed to win last season, even if the format has been tampered with beyond recognition.

Cov next to get through, Wycombe in the semis, nice away day and got to love beating our Wanabe rivals one last time before we're to far apart to play um, then a day out in London to see us do Luton.

The EFL and PL are gagging for a chance to claim that the introduction of B teams had been a success. 20k+ at the final will offer them a chance to do so. I'm unwilling to contribute to demise of the lower leagues. It's a shame so many others are. Also, I attended every game bar one in this competition last season.

One thing this competition has shown us is how bad the Prem/Champ under 21 teams are. Probably because of the 11 players on the pitch only 4 have English as their native language. They can't understand one another.

I'm genuinely disappointed in how soft some people are being on this. Do you genuinely think the B Team idea has been scrapped for good? They will keep coming back to try to impose the will of the PL on the lower leagues. I heard from a journalist that works for sky that the general feeling within the EFL is that the changes introduced this year are being gradually accepted and the boycott stance has been softened. Couldn't ever bring myself to contribute to this.

Really enjoyed that, well after the first 15 mins at least... we absolutely dominated and a few good performances including Hemmings, Johnson, Duncs, Edwards, Taylor, Sercs and Rothwell all worth a mention. 2 losses in the last 16 games, decent league position, in two cups still (next two cup games in the final week of January I think) and a few new signings toward the end of the month? What's not to like!? COYY!

IF we get to Wembley.... I will only go if it is against a REAL team - not if it ends up being vs Swansea U23.
Also, a televised final could be an opportunity to display some banners / flags saying what we think of U23 football.
