Even though nobody is going to attend tonight there will be a few faithful supporters online this evening. So we have to have a match day threadfor the few.
A difficult game, especially if they field a strong team. But definitely winnable. At least they like to play football which gives us a chance.
COME ON YOU YELLOWS

As much as I don't like the trophy, will be hoping for an Oxford win tonight as I don't like to see us lose. 1-0 to the U's, Maguire.

DE & MAPP appear to be taking this competition seriously so will be interesting to see what sort of side we put out. Think Skarz, Ruffles and Rodwell will all start, pity Raglan is Cup tied. Macdonald suspended. Eastwood. Edwards, Dunkley, Nelson, Skars, Rodwell,Ruffles, Sercombe,Johnson Taylor,Hemings. Maguire, Lundstram, Buchel, Carrol, Roberts J, plus two youth team players? 2-2 after extra time, Oxford win 3-2 on penalties.

#bteamboycott. Thats how much I care. At what point do we start to give a toss about this tournament? Do we wait until the last B team gets eliminated? Or do we wait until an official statement from the FA that this stupid idea of theirs will be canned for next season?

Anyway point I'm trying to make is start with some of those not getting much match time recently with a strong bench to help out if needed.

Boogaloo - nothing can make me care about this season's competition. The Football League (or whatever their smug, self-satisfied marketing team have decided to call them this week) have devalued this year's trophy to the point where it's not worth winning. If it reverted to a proper competition next year without B Teams, I might consider going again. Until then, no ta.

I agree that they have devalued it to the point that it's not worth winning from a supporters point of view (imo anyway, others will disagree). But from a financial point of view of the club, it may be worth it considering (iirc) the winning team tonight gets £40k prize money and that is only going to go up each round.

The problem is that if fans DO return to watch games - even at Wembley - it will give the Football League the impression that the new format was a success after all. The only way to guarantee that they drop this ridiculous, insulting format is to boycott the entire competition for the rest of the season.

I care about us winning, but I don't care a flying f*** for the competition. Result: I'll boycott the match, but hope we win (and I'll be keeping an eye on the score during the evening).

Yes, that's it for me as well. A win would help maintain our recent momentum, but Saturday's match is way more important of course. If we change the team to give a few other players a bit of time on the pitch, that would be good too.

I wonder just how many of those boycotting will sneak into Wembly if the lads get us there. We've had this before - lots would. I would say 90% minimum would suddenly rock up for the big day. I just hope one of the academy sides gets to the final so that the whole thing turns into ultimate farce and stands the best chance possible of putting people off.

I have well over 60 years of habit to break if I don't go. I can't, so I will go. I might have wavered if it was one of the pseudo teams, but as it's a real team I will go.

I was just looking at the fixtures to see how many B teams are left in (looks like five) - here: www.efl.com/checkatrade-trophy/fixtures/. There are apparently eight matches tonight and another one tomorrow! And tomorrow's match has a team 'To Be Confirmed'... What is that all about?

If it reverted to a proper competition next year without B Teams, I might consider going again. Until then, no ta. The issue I have is that the EFL tried it at all. Take one perfectly functional Cup competition for lower league clubs & try to wedge in "B Teams for the benefit of English football"..... yep that worked well. I would not go to Wembley, I did go vs Barnsley...... genuine football teams in a genuine competition. The EFL will go away for a while, lick their wounds and then come back with another bonkers idea....... much like FIFA making the WC 48 teams chasing the ££££`sss. Ruining the game for the endless chase for cash... as long as that cash stays at the top, what was offered for B Teams? £1 million or so?........probably end up with 15/20 World Clubs in some televised "World Club League"....thats the end game.

I probably wouldn't go to Wembley if we got there, but then I nearly didn't go last time either, that's how little I already cared about this rubbish competition (I did still go, obviously)
From a financial point of view I hope we go all the way though

Or do we wait until an official statement from the FA that this stupid idea of theirs will be canned for next season? At no point should we give a toss although the FA is not really the villain here, it's the EFL and the PL who conspired to con League 1 & 2 clubs into opening the door to the possibility of PL Academies competing in the football pyramid to give all the hundreds of youngsters they hoover up, most of whom will never make it in the PL, something to do. I sincerely hope that when it comes to the final that Wembley is empty. And how gratifying will it be for OUFC to win a trophy at an empty Wembley against another club's Under 21's. We'll be the laughing stock of football.

I really hope we win tonight and progress in this tournament. It didn't do us any harm last year. So let's go for it again. I think that's DE and Mapps mindset also.

Was going to give it a go, due to lack of home games this month, but can't talk anyone into it. £20 is a bit pricey for a rubbish jpt game despite the free half time coffee
