Like many others, a cracking day out yesterday. Thanks to all at Rotherham for the welcome, stewards were easy going and a really excellent stadium. I thought we played some excellent football at times, worked hard for the result and deserved it. Attacked with pace and the 3rd goal is quite fantastic. The defending at times was a little of a concern though - Marvin is fast becoming a favourite of mine but their first goal came from his poor clearance but Chey was massive throughout as was Edwards. Proud to be an Oxford fan.
If I see one more short corner though....

Without going over too much of what has already been said.
Thought Edwards, Dunkley and Ledson were fantastic defensively. I really like Ledson, I think the work he does often goes unnoticed for the majority of the game but then he will put a crunching tackle in and you will realise how good he is. Was really unlucky not to score yesterday too. Love watching Lunny when he has a bit of space to run into with ball at feet and I thought Taylor was tremendous. Great flick for Maguire who should have scored, great skill to win the penalty and he gave Broadfoot/Wood a real battle up top. Kudos to MApp for the subs who all played a part in ensuring the victory, Sercs recovery really is incredible. Turning point for me was Eastwood's save just before half-time, if we had gone in at 1-1, I think it could have been a very different second half. Another shout out to MApp as well for going straight over to Dunkley & Maguire on the half-time whistle who were continuing/sorting out their disagreement. I think Dunks had every right to have a go at Maguire, as he had lost the ball 2 or 3 times on the edge of the box in the 5 minutes before half-time. I think Maguire knew it was warranted but his attitude/ego doesn't take kindly to criticism. But fair play to the two of them, they got over it quickly, dealt with the corner and were then able to discuss going into the tunnel alongside MApp.
I think yesterday was a perfect example of where we sit as a football team at the moment. We played some fantastic football at times, the third goal was fantastic and what should have been the 4th was also a beautiful move. However, we also saw a number of chinks in our armour that would cause us to struggle in the Championship if we somehow managed to get promoted this season. We still need to learn when to just put a foot through the ball and clear it, Marv's clearance for their equaliser was trying to keep possession rather than just getting the ball away and a number of times we did those horrible 2 yard passes on the edge of the box in front of our own goal that puts us under undue pressure when we could have cleared the danger and regrouped. It looks beautiful when it comes off, but I don't think we are good enough to try it all the time. Better side than Rotherham would have capitalised much better.
Rotherham are a very poor side at Championship level, I watched them get dismantled by Derby a few weeks back, it was 3-0 but could have been 10 as Derby missed two penalties and a whole host of chances. But despite them being very poor, for the first 20-25 minutes of the second half, they outplayed us and highlighted the weak spots where other teams would target us at the level above.
Saying that, the quality of some of our play shows why we may have a flirt with the play-offs later in the season.
Another great day following Oxford away, can join the ever increasing list from the last 18 months or so.

Sounds like a chap in the East Stand that has been pretty vocal in the past couple of months. Most rants are filled with the F word and derivates thereof, very loud so a lot of people can hear his rants, very panicky, not a fan of Maguire and generally highly negative when we aren't winning. I just don't get why people who seem to dislike the side so much bother to go. Goodness if you haven't enjoyed the past 18 months and don't get the fact that the manager and players have done a fantastic job.....why bother? Same here. I've only noticed the chap in the last couple of months after a rant when the crowd were quiet that got a few people tutting - I just assume that some people want to find something wrong so they can have a moan and be right when it goes wrong. Picking on the best player at the club seems a bit of an odd one as I assume he celebrates like mad when said player sets up or scores a goal...

The ball from Lundstram in the build up to the third is pure class. Yup. Class goal, full stop. Had to clap that goal for a number of minutes afterwards as it was nice to see a meant worked goal rather than via mishap etc.

Hemmings goal very similar to the one at chelsea. There is no doubt that Marvin and him have a very good understanding.
