Quite, but he really should keep it behind closed doors, and not have favourites, I was shocked to hear that even though maguire wasn't playing well, he pulled him off in the second half Nicely worked pun. Looked like Maguire was injured judging by the ice/strapping(?) around his leg at final whistle. Wonder if any other players have scored in R1, R2 and R3 in this season's competition like Hemmings has?

Really enjoyed yesterday. Fantastic game at now comfortably my new favourite football ground. Loved every single thing about the ground. A brilliant game of football with lots of twists and turns. Some of the football was excellent from us and the 3rd goal a joy to watch. I won't give hemmings any stick for the miss just after as I thought it was a ludicrously over hit pass from Johnson. Johnson's run in the first half all the way to shot on their goal up the other end was a joy to watch. Very similar to roofe at tranmere on his loan spell. As a yardstick it's obvious to see what a big step up the championship is. The concentration levels and the percentage of times you will be punished for a mistake are sky high. We are no where near the finished article as a team but we are progressing. I really hope we keep hold of Appleton. He has a fantastic project to work on here and has done a brilliant job. I am not sure Rotherham are a good way to judge the standard in the championship, they are in their own little mini league of one and will be relegated by the end of March. I agree that they are below level to the rest of the championship. I was trying to say (badly) that even though that they are a poor team in the championship they were still very hard opponents for us. The quality of their two goals in terms of delivery and finishing was very good. We have lots of work to do.

An enjoyable day. Rotherham have an excellent stadium and decent fans, both of which deserve a better team. We were all over them in the first half, and really should have been more than one up at the break.
A few things other than what has been said already...
Blimey, those steps are steep. Two people went for a burton down them near me, when just walking down then perfectly sensibly. Others used the seats to hang on to as they went. At half time, a steward came and sprinkled salt over the steps. I asked him what good he thought that would do! It wasn't icy (or even wet). He just looked at me blankly.
I think that was the worst I have seen Maguire play for us. Apart from the penalty, he missed another sitter (tried to put it in between the keeper and the post, when the other side of the goal was gaping) and I'm not surprised Dunks had a go at him. Twice in a couple of minutes he was fannying around with the ball just outside our area, lost it and put us right into trouble. Not sure what's going on, but that sort of thing (plus some other selfish play) wouldn't impress anyone watching. He is usually one of my favourite players.
In a strange reversal I thought that Ryan Taylor, someone I have my doubts about usually, was bloody excellent. Despite getting very little protection from a weak referee, he battled and battled and was very effective.
Another great and supportive turn out from the yellow army - it all makes away days so much more fun!
Onwards and upwards.
EDIT: Oh - one other thing. Surely Sercombe's injury must have been misdiagnosed? To be back so soon compared to what was said and to be put straight back in action after so little training would be a miracle of Lazarus-like proportions!!!

At the time, I and those near me thought it was hit a bit too hard and in front of him. That speed closer to him or a bit softer and where it went and he would have scored. Hemmings was also outside the far post, which made it harder.

Fair enough, Bolton being at the top after putting up an Audley Harrison of a fight to stay in the championship also backs that up. Still hard to judge by individual teams, Wigan and Barnsley though show its hard to say who will adapt best to that division, so no need to panic if you go up through the play offs. If we did go up this season (pretty unlikely in my opinion) we would be happy enough just staying up that first season, so it would be interesting to play a team from around that level (say 16th to 21st) and see how much we need to improve to hit that standard. I would think we would need to bring in half a new first team, but most clubs do that every season.

Didn't stop one lunatic chew out the whole team 20 minutes into second half, screaming at Appleton to sort the f&&&&&g mess out. We have some brainless chumps as supporters occasionally. You must have been sat near us! As soon as Rotherham started to get into the game the abuse started. More swear words per minute than the least eloquent stand up comedian. Shut up when our second goal went in. Wonder if he really enjoyed his day out as much as most of us did? Sounds like a chap in the East Stand that has been pretty vocal in the past couple of months. Most rants are filled with the F word and derivates thereof, very loud so a lot of people can hear his rants, very panicky, not a fan of Maguire and generally highly negative when we aren't winning.

Didn't hear them once apart from boos at half time and full time. I know it's not good times for them, but we've had a much worse and still always managed to sing a few songs.

Didn't mean their support during the game (which was understandably quiet and frustrated), just that they were friendly and prepared to chat before and after the game. And some of them clapped us and the team at the end - which is the very definition of sportsmanship!

I am so proud to be an Oxford United fan. I was watching some old non-league match highlights and the transformation from that shower of cack to what we have grown into has been simply incredible. We are an established football league side again, with wins against higher league opposition in the cups. We're now known for being tough opponents and not the bottlers/big time charlies we were in the Conference. The days of John Grant, Jamie Hand and Arthur Gnohere are becoming a more and more distant memory as we continue our ascent.
Here's to the chairman, the directors, the manager, the players and most importantly the fans. It's superb to finally see everyone at the club pulling in the same direction. Hopefully the next decade will be just as memorable.

Amazing performance. With better finishing (esp Maguire) we would have had 6. Only other issue was our defending, but the defence has been like a brick wall lately so I'm not worried. I wish Taylor would start every game. Very clever player for his size. He doesn't deserve he stick he gets.

That's shows Hemmings' miss - I think Johnson over hits it. Also shows a really nice touch from Taylor to setup Maguire's, umm, miss. And of course, he was the one brought down for the penalty too.

Hes one of the best technical players that we have, great passer and dribbler

I just don't get why people who seem to dislike the side so much bother to go. Goodness if you haven't enjoyed the past 18 months and don't get the fact that the manager and players have done a fantastic job.....why bother?

afternoon everyone. who knows the result of this one, so ill go large and punt for a 3-2 win. Maguire, Johnson and Lundstram May as well make the most of it and wallow in the glory. (Okay I got the scorers wrong but it was a good day to get the score right)

He's so much better when he gives as much as he takes. Nothing better for a team to see the striker competing and winning the arial balls, and linking up the play.
