Gonna try again, practise makes perfect.
Think we're going to show our goal-scoring tomorrow. The shrews defense is very leaky so we will hit 4 while our defense looks pretty solid and will keep a blank sheet. So 4-0 to the mighty Yellows.

Will we do the usual against a team that's low in the table, low on confidence and points -and hand them on a plate?! Ruddy hope not!

Let's hope the team is less (over?) confident than some of our fans. I remember some of the pre-Coventry and Wimbledon predictions. We rarely perform when we're expected to win, unfortunately, so no complacency please!

The team treated Merstham with respect and were professional, doing the same with Shrewsbury -and any other team for that matter should be mandatory!

One of those 'I hate going there 'cos we usually get stuffed' games. Shrewsbury 1 Oxford United 1 (Hall) Att: 3309 and 532 Yellows fans. Nothing amazing on the pitch comes to mind, but I can see some strange goings-on, off it. Skarz will have a 'fat lip' as he walks out, onto the pitch. Turns out, he's had Botox. MacDonald will walk out looking, well.....just fat. We, as usual, will have a 'fat' chance of winning at this shit-hole. The Shrewsbury ground staff will be at full stretch before the game, after discovering an outbreak of mole-hills all over the pitch. Lumps of turf everywhere will make passing the ball tricky. They will kick lumps out of our players and five will need extensive treatment over the next week. Dunkley will go to head the ball, but trip over a molehill and nut Skarz in the lips, which will make him look normal again. Eastwood will fracture his clavicle just before kick-off and have to be replaced by Buchel. Buchel will dislocate his fore-finger, after trying to retrieve a reluctant bogey and have to be replaced by..............our late sub..............Michael Appleton. Our team bus will be late getting there, after getting stuck on that awful Em whatever motorway. The ref (Mr Anthony Smegma) will forget to bring his whistle and, since no-one else has got a spare one, will have to use sign language when making decisions. A Shrewsbury fan will run onto the pitch and kick one of the linesmen up the arse, fracturing his coccyx. For some unknown reason Hall will run to the Oxford fans' end, after scoring his goal and climb up onto the crossbar and do an Olympic-style backward flip, to prove that he's back with a vengeance. He will be booked. The half-time entertainment will be the Chippendales, but, because of the cold weather, won't look all that appealing. Appleton will save a penalty. Their directors' box will explode, as will one of the floodlights. A dog will run onto the pitch and disappear down a mole-hill. That just about does it for me.

This will be our hardest month we are against 3 teams below us and they will play how we hate. the ball will be in the air a lot and it will be hard for our Defence.
Anyway Shrewsbury sit bottom of the league on 9 points however,i think these cup games have helped some of our players with confidence and can see us win 2-1 tomorrow. I think the 3 goals in 2 games for Kane Hemmings has possibly helped him grow in confidence along with Johnson who has arguably been one of our better players since Coventry bagging a few assists. ; i predict him too score a long with a goal from a set piece from Maguire.
Would like to see Martin around the team tomorrow if we are struggling to keep clean sheets then surely the only CB who hasn't been given a chance in this league with us deserves a chance.

Hemmings is on one, Maguire behind him and Johnson showing flashes of good stuff from the wing. I reckon we'll have the nous and firepower to win today.

Wet and cold here in Hampshire, will be setting off about 9.30 with high expectations of something to warm us up. No errors today please and the right tactics. Hall and Johnson to provide all the strikers needs and Maguire to wind up a few defenders!

2-1 Shrews
They have won the last two games albeit in the FA Cup and the cup nobody wants.
They have a relatively new manager.
All points to getting their league season back on track at our expense.

Looking forward to this one I've not been to their new ground.
Not feeling totally confident - they're a team similar to Southend that I never fancy us against.
I'd like to see lledson and rothwell start in the middle- both obviously have bags of potential and although I rate lunny very highly I think a few weeks on the bench might do him some good.
Hoping for big performances from hemmings and Johnson too.

Three facts that historically seem to have a canning knack of a bearing on the result:- They are bottom of the league Three ex Oxford players are in their squad - Junior Brown, Joe Riley and George Waring. Waring,a striker, has not yet scored for Shrewsbury and Brown never ever looks like scoring. They have a new manager

Difficult game for us, as every game seems to be at the moment. It's been a good week for Hemmings who's scored 3 times. I know the opposition wasn't the best but putting the ball on the net regardless of the opposition will always give a striker confidence.
I agree with the earlier poster that Lundstram should be dropped as his confidence is likely to have been dented this week.
Expect Hall to be on the bench.
Hope we win as another defeat will see us dragged into the relegation mix. Fingers crossed.

Inviting speculation as to the makeup of our team today.
Several dilemmas, not limited to personnel and formation, also tactics.
Personally; I think Raglan is back in contention, probably Martin out. One of the CBs to RB for Edwards? Probably not. Too early for Hall, who gets a bench place. Ledson/Rothwell for sure. Hemmings to start.
Eastwood, Edwards Nelson Dunkley Skarz, Johnson Ledson Rothwell Sercombe, Maguire Hemmings -- Brown, Raglan, Lundstram, MacDonald, Hall, Crowley, Thomas
A lot of talent missing out! Expect to be way wrong, though.

I thought Jack Stevens was back from City.
Not sure why Raglan was dropped in the first place, Martin did not look any better when he came in. Not sure if Dunks was dropped, rested or is carrying an injury. Strangle that although Nelson is supposed to be this quality player, the defence has not looked as strong as before he came into the side. We signed three centrebacks in the summer....all right footed coupled with Dunks who although has to play on the left, is desperate to get everything on his right foot. Certainly hope Apps has the courage to drop Lunny. Reckon we could pinch this one, bloody hope so otherwise things will get a bit dire.
