Enjoyable day out, and I can't say that I am hugely put out by the result. I thought you could see (in the second half) why Barnsley are doing well at the moment, they made the right decisions more quickly and more often than we did. Their movement off the ball was also very good. No disgrace for us though, and we aren't far off the required standard if we are playing in L1 next season if that's any indication. Other observations: Hylton was fouled in the build-up to their third, none of our substitutions were a change for the better, the Barnsley fans I talked to were a decent lot, next Saturday is much more important than today and I hope some who came today will make it to the last three home games to swell the numbers and the support for the run-in. Agree with all that. Watching Barnsley second half made me realise that for all the quality football we have seen this season we will need 3 or 4 better players if we are to compete effectively in L1 next season. Although you could say we missed Skarz, Baldock & Lundstrum in that team today! And still only just lost! I know Baldocks long gone but for next season RB must be a position we are looking at plus another quality CM.

Thought the lads did really well, and by no means the end of the world. Re group and get the three points against creepy!! A day out at Wembley, and promotion would be a solid season.

Been a long old boozy day but here are my thoughts..
We were the better team first half - lots of good work but still missing that extra bit of quality.. I'm a huge lundstrum fan and think he'd have flourished today! Just don't think barnsley really got going first half
Second half was a bit of a reality check for me.. We're a good footballing side and worked hard but their extra quality shon through! Deserved the win
Our back 5 aren't good enough to make the step up. Dunks and mulls are good league 2 cb's but think they'll get found out if we make the step up and wouldn't be able to cope week in week out
Kenny and Evans aren't anywhere near as good as baldock and skarz.. hust stating the obvious but what a pleasure it was to have those 2 starting towards the start of this season!
God we miss Taylor! Who'd have thought! If we go up we nee to completely re think our strike force.. I like hylton but think he's best as an impact player (he was superb today though but not convinced with him as being the main man for us)
Buchel was superb today but still not up to it long term
Hope Odowda stays with usin the summer because with 12 months more experience the kid could be a serious talent!
How frustrating is it to sit next to people that don't really care?! Tried getting songs going a few times but don't think the people round me knew the words!
Still hugely enjoyed today! From the globe at 10 to leaving the torch at 2.. It was a very enjoyable day out and it's such a pleasure having a team to be proud of!
Looking forward to Crawley next weekend!

Great atmosphere first half but then half time came and killed it. The second half kicked with half the seats in the Oxford end looking empty. A really flat atmosphere at the start of the second half and before we knew it they had scored. The game seemed to change in that moment. The Barnsley fans seemed to get back a lot quicker. Our support rarely got going after that.
It seems that half time beverages are more important to our fans than the game!

At half-time I thought we had done really well and fully deserved our lead. The turning point was the equaliser. From where I was sitting, it looked like half the Barnsley fans had missed it, judging by the empty seats their end.
A lot of our players looked tired second half, nowhere near the energy levels of first half. We needed subs with a bit of energy and pace as the Barnsley defence were well opened a few times first half but unfortunately Maguire, Bowery and Waring didn't give us any. Did well to pull a goal back, but never seriously threatened a late equaliser, so 3-2 to Barnsley was just about right.
I thought that for long periods both sets of fans were surprisingly quiet. How come one and a half thousand at Barnet and Cambridge can make more noise than 33,000 at Wembley? Maybe most didn't see us saving the game and quite a few were streaming out well before end.
Surprised how quickly it took to get home.

Enjoyable day out despite the result. Barnsley fans were, in the main a friendly bunch and their team were not bad either so fair do's to them for winning it. First half was an end to end feast that felt at times like a roller coaster. Great to score first and to get to half-time in front, playing quick, aggressive football again. Good as we were, Barnsley came at us early second half and a goal was no surprise when it came. Before you blinked we were 3-1 down. Seconds later we are back in it 3-2... Super, super dan! We fans ramped up the volume but it wasn't to be, and we came up short. Oh well! The support was f*cking tremendous and that will live in the memory long after the disappointment has faded. What we must do now is finish the job in the league. After a quality performance like that, no-one should doubt that we have the players to get this done! COYY

Funnily enough we said the same thing on the way home, if we go up we will need to get rid of 4-5 players and replace with 5-6 quality players but mainly keep the spine together

I agree with oxfordyid in that we miss Taylor. It took the guy a while to settle in but just as we begin to see what we can bring to the team he gets injured. Throw in the absence of Lunny, Scarz, Baldock etc and i think we can hold our heads high.
We need 10% of our support to invade Crawley on Saturday. With injuries and a suspension it's going to be a tough run in. It would be galling to end this season with nothing to show for our efforts.

I'm surprised that anyone would consider not signing a few new players. A right back for starters... A winger too.
Not everyone goes to football to sing, so even when they know the words, they are unlikely to join in. People go to football for different reasons - the fact that they are there, and supporting Oxford should be enough.

Anyone see the fisticuffs on the road outside entrance A after the game?, about ten blokes posturing and bouncing about. Saw a couple of punches thrown but that was about it, didn't know who any of them were.

I did think at times were defensively naive and uncoordinated today - there were occasions where I felt we missed Skarz and Wright's calmness and know how. The back 4 as a unit needed some experience in there.

Beforehand I was saying 'its just a day out' and 'no pressure today', 'it doesn't matter if we lose' etc etc. As soon as the game kicked off it DID matter and I was gutted we lost. But now I have come back to real life, and no, it doesn't matter after all.
Next week however is back to pressure, hope my old ticker can take it :-)

I was near halfway, only about 20m from Barnsley fans, so could definitely hear them. But when "Come on you yellows" reverberated around after our second goal, that was by far the loudest the singing got. Being that close to the Barnsley fans, there were lots of gestures between ours and theirs, most of it taken in good nature but one of our fans, an older guy, really couldn't handle it. His face went purple and he was shouting all sorts of obscene stuff. Looked a right nutjob! Good luck to Barnsley for the rest of the season. They have some good individual players and when they play as a team (2nd half) they look a decent side. I was sat next to his daughter, a real nut job (the father)! And what about the two fat guys? Or was that you judging by the name? Nah I'm actually quite slim. I was in a row or two behind him, assuming you were also in block 502. He was having a right go at the stewards when they were telling our fans to sit down, and Barnsley's were up on their feet giving it some. He really looked ready to leap over there and take them all on single-handed!

Firstly gutted we lost, but having to stew on it myself as my mate went home to OX26 it didn't help, but having spoke to a few fans at Heathrow I feel much better about the run in. Secondly, I feel like a fraud. I spoke to a bone fide Scottish yellow form Dundee, couldn't believe it, and he pulled a mate along as well fair play. Hope he comes to Carlisle if he can. Thirdly, to the lad who disrupted his French holiday for the day you are a proper fan.

Really enjoyed today. Of course I would've liked the win but it was a good day out and I'm delighted that the team got the opportunity to play at Wembley as not many players do.
A really good game of football and I thought the ref did an excellent job. If every 2 of our normal home crowd can convince just 1 of the 'day trippers' to come back for our remaining home games then we will have 3 sellouts to look forward to.
Can't wait to get back to the league, what a fantastic season this has been so far!

The minutes after the whistle blew for the second half and a lot of people weren't back in their seats (Beano and Creighton were!). Not that it would've made much difference to the result, it did feel a little flat when we got going again and once Barnsley had scored, it did feel like an uphill struggle to get our energy and momentum back. Just a small moan, mind, and a personal preference one at that. Fans are entitled to watch as much of the game as they wish.

We were trying to get a visit to the toilets and get served with a tea whilst negotiating the crowd of other folk all milling around the concourse of the Club Wembley level. Queues at the ladies meant a lot of the ladies were unable to get back in time and the incompetence of the staff on at least one of the food outlets was very annoying to say the least. Barely got our tea when the second half kicked off and had to rush back to our seats. Very surprised that Wembley cannot manage all this better.

As I mentioned, people go to Wembley for different reasons - for some the football is the main event, for others a day on the sauce in London and if they see some football it's a bonus is enough. The queues for refreshments did seem long at half time.

Woken up feeling really bloody proud of our football club!
34,000 supporters, great day out and for large parts we were a match for a very organised league 1 side.
I just hope that we can capture some of the additional supporters for the 6 massive games that we have to come. To that end, I'm quite surprised the ticket office is shut today. I'd have thought the day after a Wembley final, backed by such large numbers, would have been prime time for people looking to purchase tickets for future games.

Sudden realisation that Jake Wright is unique in that he'll be the only Oxford United player to play at Wembley twice for us. Assuming he plays and it would be mental or down to sudden injury if he didn't. And this never happened, sadly. Still no U's players to represent us twice at Wembley. Oh well.
