No shame in that. Good performance against an inform team a league higher. And missing 3 first team regulars. Thought Evans and ruffles did well. Dunkley immense apart from two bad cock ups . Maguire - blar same old same old. More than happy to see him go in the summer, and replaced with a faster right winger to compliment cod on the other side. Anyway back to business. Let's get this f*cking promotion

What a horrendous second half. The annoying thing is they didn't even have any real chances, they just scored every half chance they had. Gutted.
Oxford support outstanding by the way

Roofe might not have been on top form but at least he put a peach of a ball in for the second. He did SOMETHING. Maguire as per usual did nothing but come on, strop, moan and get booked needlessly. Get rid or at least don't start him again. Keep him on that bench at most.
Annoying that as others have said, Barnsley essentially had no real, clear chances and we've lost it. Dunkley is all heart but he will give you at least one massive calamity per game and it's whether or not they take it. Today it went in and given it was an early half equaliser it totally swung the momentum. Unfortunate.
A pretty entertaining game overall, though, and the support was great. No shame at all, just a bit irritating to feel like we beat ourselves again. Oh well - six games left now and only one goal in mind. Let's finish the job starting at Crawley and look back on a brilliant season come May.

What a game of two halves. Controlled the first, chased everything, doesn't give them any space, knocked it around nicely. Second half Barnsley came out and pressed high up the pitch, we lost our composure and didn't close them down quickly enough. I think we just ran out of steam and Barnsley took their chances well.
Evans looked rusty, Dunkley was good most of the time but very bad on a couple of occasions. Hylton was excellent first half but didn't do much other than his goal in the second. Roofe was too unselfish at times and didn't quite have his touch. COD played well although their full back did a good job on him. Kenny was very solid. Didn't really notice many of the other players.
Still, it was a good game of football, a shame we had to lose our Wembley run but there are more important things to worry about.

I think I've seen Dagenham sing better than Barnsley.
Loss was unfortunate but we made too many errors and they capitalised well. Get promotion and this game won't even serve in the memory

We weren't bad in the second half - Barnsley just nullified us and stopped us outpassing them. They pressed harder, stopped any rhythm we had and caused us problems with crosses from deep into the middle. Even when the six minutes came up (!), they had control of the game. We never looked like getting forward and doing something with it.
Never mind, though. Not embarrassed nor disgraced by that result. Could it have been different with Lundstram? Possibly, but we'll never know.
Adam Hamill is too good for League 1. I remember when Wolves signed him in the PL and he struggled with the step up and I'm surprised to see him playing in the third tier. He's definitely capable of playing higher up the leagues.

Really well played; game could easily have gone the other way. Oxford are a good footballing side & would grace League One without a doubt. Great numbers out for you today - try and drag a couple of thousand of them down to your place for the run-in and get that promotion sorted. Maybe see you at Oakwell next season. Cheers.

I'm not ashamed to have lost today. It was a good game of football and we lost to the better team I think. Some of our player looked a little naive at times (but that is largely a lack of experience), but we acquitted ourselves well. We did miss Wright, Skarz and Lundstram, but Evans and Ruffels did well and all we could ask of them. Our defending at times was not that great though.
It was a good day out at a game that does not matter. The players should not be too down because they did well on that performance, the real prize is to come. Time to concentrate on promotion and making sure we get that celebration at the end of the season. COYY!

Good to see mapp dropped Wright as a tactical decision. I thought him and dunkley were poorer than Mullins and dunks. But bad news to hear skarz maybe out for the season.

I was near halfway, only about 20m from Barnsley fans, so could definitely hear them. But when "Come on you yellows" reverberated around after our second goal, that was by far the loudest the singing got. Being that close to the Barnsley fans, there were lots of gestures between ours and theirs, most of it taken in good nature but one of our fans, an older guy, really couldn't handle it. His face went purple and he was shouting all sorts of obscene stuff. Looked a right nutjob! Good luck to Barnsley for the rest of the season. They have some good individual players and when they play as a team (2nd half) they look a decent side.

Was a good game mate both sides played well, Your right that little bit extra your 3rd goal was well taken, That seemed to give Oxford that bit of oomph kick start with a well taken goal by Danny Hylton after some good play from Kemar Roofe. But we just couldn't get that third goal. Best of luck for the rest of the season and if you don't make the promotion hopefully have 2 good games against each other next season

Barnsley quiet but so were we in the 2nd half, they were bloody loud for their goals though to be fair. Decent club and glad to see the two sets of fans and teams getting on. Oxford smashed it in the 1st half. Don't ever want to hear a vuvuzela again though.
End of the day best team won, most Oxford fans went home happy, if we don't beat Crawley i'll be 100x more miserable than today. Already nervous about that game.

Thank's the thing about Wembley, it echos so much you can't hear shit. When you scored it sounded like people were celebrating behind us. All the noise tends to get mashed together. Good game though and hope to see you next season, if you haven't been promoted that is.

Enjoyable day out, and I can't say that I am hugely put out by the result.
I thought you could see (in the second half) why Barnsley are doing well at the moment, they made the right decisions more quickly and more often than we did. Their movement off the ball was also very good. No disgrace for us though, and we aren't far off the required standard if we are playing in L1 next season if that's any indication.
Other observations: Hylton was fouled in the build-up to their third, none of our substitutions were a change for the better, the Barnsley fans I talked to were a decent lot, next Saturday is much more important than today and I hope some who came today will make it to the last three home games to swell the numbers and the support for the run-in.

Agree with all that. Watching Barnsley second half made me realise that for all the quality football we have seen this season we will need 3 or 4 better players if we are to compete effectively in L1 next season.
