What's interesting is, the club were in talks of a temporary stand. There must be something in this for Kassam to want to build the fourth stand. I guess it's the approval by the club to build houses on the over-flow car park, but at the same time he (Kassam) increases his assets by using the club AGAIN.

As mentioned already, nothing that new there. I think it may be the first time the Northfield School site has been mentioned in the public domain relating to all this though. And that simply looks like Kassam using OUFC and "developing" the stadium as a way of getting his mitts on even more land around the site.

Same old talk from our landlord. No news.

Same old talk from our landlord. No news. But why is he mentioning it now? And I suppose the news is, we're in discussions about a temporary stand, so I wonder why Kassam talks of building a 4th stand, and upgrading the Priory? He must need something from the club to gain something. We all know how he works!

I don't like it, surely a further nail in the coffin of potential ownership?

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Mr Kassam said: "I would like a stadium with my name on it that is finished and not just half-built.
That just about sums it up. If a fourth stand is to be built, then the rent will no doubt rise or the club will have to pay for it to be built. IMO Kassam is using the JPT success for his own ego trip.
I would like a urinal with Kassams name on it so we can p*ss over him rather than him p*ss over us.

How can we get Kassam away from our club once and for all?

Doesn't seem like it's bothered you at any point over the last 15 years.

How can we get Kassam away from our club once and for all? It's probably beneficial he stays close , at least for now. The more welcomed he feels the more likely a deal will be done. Eales is obviously working on this, his part of the statement sort of suggested that he favours the kassam but the deal is open if terms can't be brought more in the clubs favour. Be that owning it, reducing the rent or even kassam gifting the stadium back for some minor involvement.

We forgot that you were here, now **** off. Have to admit he's got some nerve, popping up all dewy eyed and sentimental towards our Club, and it's not even Valentine's day! Nearly chocked on me sugar puffs reading about how he'd dearly love to complete the Stadium, yeah, complete the kill, more like. I can't think why he's taking an interest now!

Because he screwed us and the council last time he knows any venture/project that he wants won't be given by the council unless there's give and take. He wants to build houses on the over-flow car park, but to do that he'll need the club's buy in, hence the offer to build the 4th stand. However, he'll still own the ground so he'll win there eventually either by higher rental costs or cost to purchase the stadium.
Put it this way, why doesn't the club buy the stadium and build the houses on the over flow car park to help offset the cost of the stadium/4th stand. That's probably the answer, Kassam is trying to force the club's hands?
I've never trusted this guy the day he walked around the Manor pitch.

Because the cost of buying the stadium is 13m. That doesn't include the overflow car park, for the club to development they would have to pay a lot more for the land. I'd think the club does has a bit of say here, if they agree and the council to housing on the car park, and in return they get a fourth stand built, then they should tie in a Definite future purchase price or renegotiate rent as per of the deal. Some of the other tit bit like additional parking, a new link rd direct from the leys and finishing the priory are what fans have been asking for all season as well as an away stand so that the best seat are available for home fans.

Oxford Mail exciting news! It's the worst news I've read about Oxford United for years and that includes all the reports about the dross we've watched since we fell from grace (excluding current season of course). I want OUFC to own their own ground and for us to make money from it. Not this cancerous man. Nothing he does will be in the interests of the club it will be in the interests of himself. This just means we're further away than ever to owning the ground which is essential to our ongoing success. If he builds the fourth stand he either gets to charge more rent, eventually. An increase to the 500k millstone around the clubs neck. Or an increase in stadium purchase price. Ka$$am win win! OUFC lose lose! Exciting plans would be an announcement that we're moving away from the Thames Water stink pit! To a new stadium, conference, retail, gym.... And whatever else we can squeeze in to the benefit of OUFC and the city!

I also think a new link road from Knights Road and more parking is positive. That bit is exciting, potentially.
So FK wants:
1) To build houses on land earmarked in the local plan for housing (we knew this) 2) More Conference facilities.
OUFC :
1) Need better access/egress to and from the stadium 2) Needs to sort our car parking once and for all 3) Needs a new training ground 3) Club wants to get involved more in education and community 4) Eales has said publicly (again) he wants to stay at Grenoble Rd.
Council:
1) Desperately needs new housing. 2) It wants the stadium finished.
Can the U's get what it wants at zero cost or min. cost?
Maybe the rent does not have to increase as the sums could add up for FK. Utd get to play in a finished stadium with a new stand which could house extra conference and banqueting facilities and could provide education classrooms etc. Community gets to use the stadium as a hub - Eales wants this.
A win win. A no brainer says Bob Price.

Matthew - ask Bob Price !
This is his direct quote from the OM article
Mr Price said: "We are in discussions with the club at the moment about a temporary stand, in anticipation of any potential promotion, but there have also been discussions about a fourth stand.
"We would clearly love to see that, because it is a no-brainer from everyone's point of view."

Kassam sees the deals and is trying to get them done. I'm skeptical of a 4th stand because the rest of the ground is still not adequately finished and there is no point in having another half finished stand. Any deal should include improvements to the current facilities to bring them up to modern standards.
Parking wise, I don't see how they can improve it without providing something elsewhere. More entrance and exit points are needed, but I can't see the locals being happy when matches are over.

Edit: Every owner has said its essential for us to have our own ground. Imagine having an extra 500k per year and what that could do for the club. Imagine having the ability to build what we want (within planning rules) for the benefit of OUFC. If we fans have learnt anything about Ka$$am he is only out for Number 1. Don't believe a word he says! If it would make him money he would knock down the north stand, east stand and build houses and hotels all around the pitch! Edit 2: If it would help Bob price meet his government housing targets we would be ground sharing with Oxford City!

Which was not derelict when Tim Whossname's lease was hiked and his business was made non-viable.
Whose (the Priory) refurbishment before the hotel opened was a condition of the re-issued planning grant.
Which (f*cking Priory again) English Heritage declined to make a building at risk because "given the current discussions, it hardly seems worth it" over 18 months ago.

No where has kassam or eales said that it won't be in the hands of Oufc. Eales isn't stupid, why would he be commenting on it, saying its his preference to stay if things were about to get worse ie more rent. U don't know that they haven't agreed a deal to buy it on condition kassam "finishes" it first. The mad panic just because kassam is involved is crazy. I know what he did, yes I remember but I also know de has made some very very good judgments so far concerning our club, let's not forget it wasn't that long ago people were in melt down about him and Ashton joining! ! ! Kassam did make mistakes, but he did also pump in a lot of money for the Argentinians and some big money moves for people like mooney and Bradbury, as well as Rix and Talbot . Ok none really worked out but it's wasn't for lack of trying. Onece things got so bad and he was losing money that's when it started getting bad , cutting cost and the youth team, but really that's no different to the end of il reign . I don't remember anyone else standing up in the town hall and saving us from the same fate as rushden. Think we need some more facts about how this is going to play out before we need to panic, so long as eales keeps control a small involvement from fk could push this club forward rather than harm us. If it does turn out were either going to end up paying massive rent or having a stadium that we can't expand because of housing or cost then I agree. Start saving for a hit

What area for parking would that be ? Easy access ? Can you imagine the jams on the ring road if 10k people were trying to get to Marston.
