It would be a starting point for people to make an informed choice..... whats to hide? That aside.... atmosphere starts with the product on the pitch... no more, no less & not the other way around...... do I really want somebody waving a smelly nylon flag in my face to "improve the atmosphere" ? No thanks. Do I want to wave a piece of coloured card over my head like some sort of special needs type in a sensory experience? No thanks. Turn up, meet my mates, have a drink, watch a decent game and go home. I`m not expecting anything over complicated or planned...... football is spontaneous! Hate this. Do the players make the atmosphere? Why is there sometimes a cracking atmosphere and singing prior to kick off when there's no 'product on the pitch' yet? Because it's the fans who make the atmosphere, not the players. Winning and losing can often dictate atmospheres, but that says more about the attitude of our fans than anything else. There are lots of clubs who keep their atmospheres going for the full 90 regardless of what's happening on the pitch, I wish we were one of them. I'd take a "smelly nylon flag" in the face because someone is at least being enthusiastic in the stands and improving the visual aspect inside the ground, which in turn could raise an atmosphere. Good on them I say. Problem this season specifically IMO is the 'WRONG' kind/type of pre match & Half time 'music' selected by obviously someone who it seems ( by their choices) has no real knowledge about creating atmosphere, or for that matter enhancing atmosphere at home matches Even worse IMO is not only is it the wrong selections of music both pre match & half time....the VOLUME its blasted out at drowns out , stifles and supresses ANY attempt by YA , or for that matter OUFC fans, acting in the good old fashioned spontaneous way, to create a welcoming atmosphere for OUR team ....and a hostile/intimidating one for the visiting team ( which SHOULD be an integral element of 'home advantage IMO) Given the high roofed standsand wind tunnel-esque acoustics of the breeze block stadium, its hard enough to create ANY form of atmosphere 'organically' without the unwanted , overbearing, 30dbs too loud, rubbish imposed at pre match & half time via the breeze block pa system, thus strangling at birth any attempt to build up a head of steam atmosphere wise at home matches The 'matchday experience' both in and around the breeze block is, for me, at an absolute ALL TIME LOW this current season.....(Atmosphere building by fans stifled by the wrong & far too too too loud 'music', the demise of the Priory ( OUFC Board members DO have experience in hostelries, having interests in one or two in Woodstock- C'mon give us the Priory back as a proper , official supporters club! ).... the advent of the NO choice, overpriced, mystery percentage bar and all the many annoyances that go with it,( it really wouldnt cause a major incident if even a part of how the % split &, how the club benefits, is worked out, was 'shared' with the people asked to patronise it, would it? - unless of course, in cash terms the amount OUFC receive on the bar split is embarrassingly 3/4s lower than the £1 non ST holders 'admission fee in total on an average home game, now THAT to me WOULD be shamefully embarassing!!!!) ....lets not miss out THAT patronising announcement ( family club, mind your language) stating the OBVIOUS!!!which rankles with me and others in SSL family area EVERY time its made!!! ..... which, then add into the 'WELCOMING' equation this season the introduction of OUFC issued ABCs ( which Oxvox are looking into currently) OUFC admin have attempted issuing ABC's (acceptable behavior contracts) to supporters found NOT GUILTY in court (despite TVPs best efforts to stitch OUFC fans up) which is IMO totally wrong! .... the requirements of said OUFC ABC's are ALREADY covered by ground regs on the reverse side of tickets....with the EXCEPTION of if the person required to sign one is seen in a 'group' of more than 4 people, including the person asked to sign an OUFC ABC, in or around the stadium, THEN they are in breach of said ABC issued by OUFC! most of us are aware just how 'creative' some members of TVP can be with video evidence!!!!!! how simple to 'prove' someone was in a group of 4 (including themself), with a clever edit of video evidence by one of TVPs tech types???! ......whats more the aforementioned OUFC issued ABCs have NO time limit atached to them, which is possibly a potential breach of European Human Rights! ...those supporters who have been convicted (rightly or wrongly....convictions as most of us are aware are VERY subjective, especially when TVP receive something along the lines of £1k per ban they secure in court!)... are also subjected to a subsequent OUFC ABC....after serving out their court imposed ban!! .....hmmm, the Wilder factor excluded, maybe, just maybe, some of the stay aways are actually staying away in support of friends/collegues subjected to the un-necessary attempted imposition of additional 'punishment', meted out by OUFC .....to their OWN supporters ? ..... incidently OUFC INFORM and ADVISE TVP about ANY ABC that OUFC issue (that has been 'agreed'/ signed) as in provide TVP with the name of the person who has been issued with an ABC... thus OUFC is more or less inviting TVP to go ahead and 'earn' yet another easy £1k by targeting someone (on an ABC).... walking to & from the match ALONE, but use of creative video evidence can make it appear that the group of 4 clause is breached....Yes Im a self confessed cynic, and quite rightly so at times too! hopefully Oxvox can obtain a 'result' of sorts regarding the oppressive implications of the OUFC issued ABC's....I'm confident Oxvox WILL managed to gain some movement by the OUFC Admin on the subject of ABCs....here's hoping! AND....IF someone happens to break, or even continually breaks, ground regulations, simple solution, OUFC issue a BAN for say 3 or 5 years...no need for ABCs is there? Good luck to Yellow Army with improving the atmosphere & matchday experience....however, the way things are this season so far, YA will need all the luck in the world & then some

One point I did pick up - unless of course, in cash terms the amount OUFC receive on the bar split is embarrassingly 3/4s lower than the £1 non ST holders 'admission fee in total on an average home game
If you think that the OUFC "take" on any beer is greater than 75p then I feel you are it for a disappointment.
I context, a couple of us locals were raising the cost of beer with the landlord, as we heard that the brewery had just put in it's round of annual price increases. He confirmed that they had and said that a pint would be rising by 15p shortly and that the budget may bump this up even more.
The thought of a £4 glass of Carling was enough to spark a "discussion" over pricing and in the course of the discourse, the landlord said that he made, after all costs and expenses, between 12 and 15 pence on a pint, depending on type and volumes and that figure fell as the year went by, such that he was currently making about 7p max.
On that basis, getting 5p a pint towards club funds would be the best I would expect.

Purely speculative on my part of course! Though IF my speculation IS close to the actual percentage split deal......any wonder why, those in the know, wont share the knowledge with the very people they encourage to drink in the 'mystery percentage bar' on matchdays? Good luck to Yellow Army with improving the atmosphere & matchday experience....however, the way things are this season so far, YA will need all the luck in the world & then some Excellent post Sarge and some good points raised. Don't get me started on the stadium of concrete misery and gloom. I hate it. All of our singers have chosen the East Stand, which is the stand with the worst acoustics in the ground (excluding the mighty fence end). The high roof, sloping upwards is poorly designed and the top row of seats being miles from the back wall and the roof itself means it's damn near impossible to make an echo, it's almost like singing in the middle of a field. The singers we do have also spread themselves right along the top 2 rows, from one end to the other, meaning none of them can hear each other and it's difficult to get songs going. The "Right side left side competition" has also gone too far now. The left side only seem to sing "Come on Oxford" (29 times in 1 match once, almost once every 3 minutes) and despite the right sides best efforts to create new songs there seems to be a reluctance from the left side to join in. The 2 sides need to come together in one area of the ground, like an away game. The pre-match music will change at some point, hopefully more football orientated and aimed towards the supporters. I don't think James Arthur, The Wanted and One Direction are popular choices amongst the majority of our fans. Their needs to be mix of songs for the older generation (The Who), younger generation (Arctic Monkeys) and general atmosphere builders. Bit of stereotyping there but it's guesswork as to what most people will enjoy. And yes, it needs to be turned down maybe until 5/10 minutes before kick off, it also needs tuning or replacing for a better quality system as it's very distorted. The stadium is horrendous, but we can still improve our time spent inside it on a match day. I'm looking forward to tackling the problems we have and hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) it making a difference.

No problem. OxVox is very much independent of OUFC and examples I listed earlier on in this thread. OxVox endorses the work of yellow army and some of the committee are happy to take part in yellow army events. Joe and I are obviously heavily involved. Yellow Army is open to all and OxVox is happy to support what it stands for. But OxVox aren't part of the yellow army per se. Yellow army focuses on fundraising and match day atmosphere and OxVox is happy to support those concepts. But OxVox exists to represent members' views and raise concerns to the club of which we've been pretty busy doing recently! Well if you raise concerns with the club, which you say you have been doing of late, can you ask them for a statement regarding the Manager's position . As others have already stated on a couple of other threads "it's gone very quiet". But I do think an amalgamation would be better than various groups acting independently of each other.

Have you never had food poisoning before? when i was a steward at the manor back in 1998 i had my usual meat/potato pie as a pre match snack cue gastro intiritus and i lost 21 pounds in one week , surfice it to say i NEVER bought any (so called cooked) items there again , mind you it was a great weight loss , albeit every 30 mins i was voiding out of either north/south orifice !

Seating is the primary cause of lack of atmosphere in grounds, including ours.
Its generally allocated, mostly bodering on dangerous (seats bodged onto terraces) and a poor excuse to charge more for admission.
The global money driven "corporate" take over at all levels of football has also added to the demise.
Good luck to those fighting the battle.... unfortunately the war is lost.

That's what annoys me about Morecambe. They have an away fans terrace behind the goal with £15 ticket price. But they shut it, force you to go in the seats, and charge you £19. OK it's under £20, but I still have this feeling I've had the p*ss taken out of me.
