Blimey how much was juan going to end up paying if Darryl wanted his money back, debt paid off and future percentage of transfer fees. Plus the stadium on top. Could cost him upwards of £20m for as u say a club with no assets

Conditions on future transfers ? If you sold the club ? I am totally guessing (which we are all doing). I read somewhere that DE had suggested he should keep a share of future player sales. Now this is probably total rubbish . What scotchegg and I am trying to do is to say that there will no doubt be a lot behind what has happened, but it almost certainly isn't black and white and it is quite possible that they are both kind of telling the truth. But I am simply hypothesising as to what may have happened.

Again like u just guessing as to what's been said before. I think Darryl has said he has pumped in £9m to date. There is the £4.5m debt written of by il that passed to Darryls company. An the future sales of stars like Johno Nelson and lego. Could add up depending how much they go for. If the stadium was just a lease deal then I should imagine sartori would have been looking at between £10-20m with no asset other than players. That a hell of a lot of money for a l1 side. Dependant of course if Darryl was looking to get all his money back.

And it may very well have not got anywhere near the ins and outs of a final deal, just options being put out there (or not seeing as we don't know anything!!). The point that I and others are making is that people are trying to fill the gaps with guess work and then arguing about which guess is better. The reality is usually far more boring than that which is why neither body has said much and no media outlets have taken any interest.

The reality might be very boring, Darryl may have saved the club from a fate worse than Kassam, still worth a discussion on a fans forum, you have both made very good points, surely that's a better option than just keep saying right lets not talk about it or ever question anything the club says. Would make team selection threads pretty boring. Does it matter, peps picked the team now, let's leave it there save going over the merits of playing Johno at left back 😉

The main difference is that team selection is still valid, we will very likely never hear any more about what did or didn't happen during the takeover/discussions.
Speculation, opinions and comments are great (even if Paul is bored!) - but it gets to a point where it becomes pointless. I would suggest that is where we are unless Charlie spills the beans?!

For obvious reasons I try to avoid the politics of OUFC.
We have OxVox and members from this forum making their views well known, but the vast majority of our fanbase are mostly along for the ride. They don't really care who the Manager/Chairman/Owner is. They are just happy to watch and support our team on a Sat afternoon or a day out at Wembley. One day it might all change, so lets enjoy it while we can.

Agreed. The need to know is that a bid was made and eventually turned down, according to DE because he thinks it was taking too long. But relations remain amicable and JS has said that he would not rule out doing something in the future. That is the real substance. As I said in my original response, I really wish that everyone would move on, rather than trying to interpret things as being "DE bad guy" or "JS bad guy". How about "neither as bad guy - one has already put substantial funds into the club, another was trying to. Aren't we lucky to have these people interested in the club?" If DE perceives that he is being portrayed as bad guy, then - quite rightly - he defends himself. If JS is being portrayed as a bad guy, then I will defend him. Because, no, he doesn't want to make a mountain out of a molehill by gabbing to the local media. There are substantial issues surrounding the club, which seem to be largely forgotten these days. But one of them is surely not whether an offer made can or can not be deemed "formal" or what the precise nature of "being in due diligence" means. Semantics and, now, irrelevant semantics! Let's just get on with the new season.

As the 'culprit' responsible for the rogue comment I'd just like to reiterate for the record that in no way was I having a snipe at JS, I was as excited as anyone at the prospect of big new investment. However, due to DE's comments - all that we really have to go on - stating that no formal bid had ever been received, I questioned how serious JS was with his intentions of buying the club. I will admit using the word 'sincere' which I accept was a poor choice of word and open to all sorts of interpretation.
I was just airing my thoughts on the forum and am a little taken aback at the level of emotion in some of the responses. I'm on nobody's 'side' or in any particular camp. It's a shame that this is still rumbling on. Mountains and molehills and all that..

Getting back onto one of the other points in the Q&A. The player budget. --------- 2016/2017 £2.8m In the coming season, we have budgeted a 15% increase in the playing budget but I suspect the actual increase will be in excess of 20%. Alongside this, we spent over £1m on transfer fees in the summer of 2016. Pep has the opportunity to bring more players in who require transfer fees. These fees are on top of the playing budget. --------- A 20% increase takes us to £3.36 million So, transfer fees being spent don't come out of the playing budget (and presumably transfer fees received don't get added in to the budget or necessarily are available for paying out on new transfer fees). Interesting some clubs operate a model of allocating transfer profits for instance as 1/3 for new players, 1/3 for capital investment, 1/3 for debt repayment. But looking at the players who have gone out of the door and who has come in, have we got a fair bit spare? Or has there been a general increase in wages for existing player contracts and the cost of replacing L2 players with L1 players?
So what I am really saying is can we still expect a marquee signing or two?

No, Scotchers, you wonderful old (or young) hypocrite. After weeks of (much to my joy) this whole issue getting almost no air-time, a (in my view marginally un-wise) response to a question was given, which led (as it always was going to) to an over-interpretation which basically - being kind about it - amounted to: "Bloke was a time-waster". Now some people might say "Ah, whatever. Who gives a damn?" But since you are so wonderfully, beautifully, sometimes tearfully protective of DE, whenever his sincerity, integrity or general brilliance is ever questioned by know-nothing posters, you of all people will understand that I'm not very likely to let it pass. To be clear, Donald (and by connection me) persuaded a very busy, very wealthy man to spend vast chunks of his (and people at AC Monaco's) time and quite a large sum of money on lawyers and accountants - attempting to do something he was told was in the interests of the football club. It didn't come off - as is the case with plenty of deals and being a good-natured chap who knows that life comes with ups and downs he has relatively cheerfully written off all that time and money. But when his media searches bring up unwarranted criticism of him on here (easily Googleable for years to come) then why shouldn't it receive push back before 'Sartori - time waster' becomes part of his Wiki profile?

Oh come on now Charlie.. I promised myself I wasn't going to get drawn in to this and bite anymore but I think that's being a little over sensitive. I always read your views with interest and respect all that you've done to further the cause of the club we all love but if you really think that JS would seriously worry about ramifications of a small comment that wasn't intended to be disrespectful in any way echoing down the eons and bringing his empire crashing down I'd seriously question if he had the right qualities and mental strength needed to own a football club anyway. Im sure DE would be the first to tell him that a thick skin is more important than deep pockets! Seriously I really do think this needs to be put to bed now, I've apologised if any offence was caused. The football season is about to start again soon - thank the lord! Let's all just get back to talking about that Peace out 😉

This is so hilarious it's beyond belief. Why not come along to the fans forum and ask the Chairman the direct question that seems to bother some of you.
The club is building for a serious attempt to gain promotion this season and the Chairman has given answers to written questions , but still some of you continue to question his motives, unbelievable.

Question to ESB....when you first started yellows forum did you ever think it would become so big that multi millionaires had to hire their own PR guru to defend them on this world wide, biggest football forum that has ever been created?
If JS is that worried about a few comments on this forum then I am glad for his sake the purchase of the club didn't go through because the poor little lamb would be crying into his glass of port on his massive yaht every night with comments questioning him.
