We will look at stepping up the promotion of Ultimate Support Saturday this week with less than 2 weeks to go. If anyone could download the flyer and put it up at work, or anywhere else people would see it, that would be great. Buy tickets, ask friends and family to come along, and organise a day at the Priory with your mates.
Ultimate Support Saturday isn't a day that is an idea of the club, or organised by the club. It is an initiative by our fans, and is done to try and improve the atmosphere and attendance, to make it better for fans, even during difficult times. So please if you can, support Ultimate Support Saturday, and let's make it the best one yet.

Admire your determination to make this succeed but at this rate it will be wrecked by the team and management. However well this is promoted unless the team can produce better then casual fans just will not go. Casuals will just look at the media feedback before going and, truth is, it aint pretty. Gates are dropping like a stone and fans staying away in their droves. I'm sure your aim in this is not just to get a good one off gate but to try and capture new supporters for the long term and while the die hards will savour the whole match day experience any new fans will want to be royally entertained out on that patch of grass first and foremost. Oxford fans and their initiatives - such as this - deserve so much better than what we have been served up in these last 8 months.

I agree Baldy they do 5773 is not much down on average but that could set alarm bells ringing if it goes below 5000

Forget this wind up merchant, he isn't capable of thinking up anything to help his club, let alone organising it. Let's keep this thread to promoting and organising a successful day. Be fair, I only raised the concern you might lose as we are on good form right now and I'd hate us to spoil it all for you. You need to speak to junior about the matchbox insult. Come on, let's face it it's going to be great day whatever we put on here UTC! JL is right, we should concentrate on USS, not the trolling of this rather pathetic Cobbler, who thinks referring to a matchbox as a matchbox is "insulting", and seems very affected by nasty Oxford fans exchanging rude words with stewards. Bless him, what a sensitive soul. USS is all about Oxford, we just happen to be playing Northampton.

Baldy, organising days likes this become so much harder when the team aren't winning every week, and that's rightly being debated elsewhere on here. But we all love Oxford United, and Ultimate Support Saturday isn't about managers, or only coming because Oxford are doing well. It's about the fans pulling together, getting behind this, because we love Oxford, and we want to enjoy a great atmosphere, and hopefully 3 points. I understand the frustrations, but the support I've received, and the support USS is getting, shows that despite things not being great, fans will still back the initiative, and be a part of Ultimate Support Saturday.

JL are pubs in Oxford letting you put flyers up? Reason I ask is there is, or I should say was, posters in W'Spoons advertising LW games...

The USS posters promote the Priory I doubt rival pubs would display them fair question though if pubs agreed to display a poster we could do one without the prioy being mentioned

Well good luck and I hope you're positivity is rewarded. In principle you're right in what you say but the mind set of the casual fan that this is hoping to attract isn't likely to be 'come on lets pull together for OUFC'. He -or she - is more likely to be asking themselves 'how are Oxford doing ?' Don't get me wrong I am in no way undermining this, like I say I think it's admirable and take my hat off to the effort being made but even the most stoic of supporters is finding it tough going so lets just hope that somehow the team can generate a bit of excitement before the Northampton game because the last two home games have been as atmospherically flat as I can remember. It's like the team are waiting for the fans but we need awakening by them and when they do show some urgency and desire, like they did in the second half on Saturday, then the crowd react. Good luck.

Let's be positive Baldy. This isn't just a normal league game, its Ultimate Support Saturday. We all want 3 points, and let's try and make our annual fans day a great one all round.
Thank you for what you said.

JL are pubs in Oxford letting you put flyers up? Reason I ask is there is, or I should say was, posters in W'Spoons advertising LW games... Junior, i haven't even got to that point yet with so many other things to do with this, plus working full time. But it is something which if supporters can organise, or let me know the number of their pub and I can ring up and ask, then its something we can try to do. Any help is appreciated, as there is more id like to do, but don't have the time with the other things there are to organise. As L&P says, the Priory is mentioned on the flyer/poster, and we have done that because we would like the Priory to benefit, and it will be a great place for everyone to meet before and after the game. If there is a pub that people can think of, or might be willing to put a poster up or have some flyers, it will be worth asking, and to tell them that their pub will be mentioned on here, and the next one we do, we can make a point of saying which pubs are supporting Ultimate Support Saturday.

Just spoke to John Lennon, one of the things I'm doing to help is putting a poster up in the pub my uncle owns. I know it's not much in comparison to what he's doing but every little helps. Even if only one persons sees it and decides to go then it's a success.
I urge everyone to get behind this and do whatever they can to support it no matter how little or big.

Fair play to you chaps...hope we can reciprocate with a bit of atmosphere...West Stand at Northampton has been totally turned around by an enthusiastic young brigade, who sing for 90 mins, irrespective of score...Vale and Bradford silenced in recent weeks! Not sure about 1000 at Oxford... 770 of us at Barnet for the Friday night game, 250 odd at York and Accrington in last seven days...reckon just over 800, for our annual defeat...might even get a draw! Tim...will there be the ciders, ales and progs for sale at the Priory?

If anyone can use some big posters somewhere (A1) then let me know via pm. They are the ones that were up in the concourses on Saturday, and cost £150. So would be good to use them again.
(did anyone see them?)

I think it would be a good idea (in any home game) for the non-season ticket holding OM standers to go about 5 rows further down, forcing everyone behind them to stand up... would help the atmoshpere

Some people have good genuine reasons for not standing. When terracing replaces some of the seating, as it eventually will, then people can choose to stand or sit through the whole game in those seperate areas.

Must admit, I don't understand why anyone would buy a ST in the middle of the East Stand if they're not interested in joining in with the atmosphere (i.e. singing and chanting). It's certainly not for the view, which is better in both North and South Stands. You could even say those people are a bit selfish, denying others the opportunity to create an atmosphere.

But I think it would be good for the East Stand to be the kind of place where people who don't mind standing go, to help with the atmosphere. The North and South Stands are both more suited to people who want to sit down. To have a long term better atmosphere at home games, I think thatpeterleven makes a good point. Ultimate Support Saturday is about making it the best day possible, atmosphere and attendance wise. But its also for fans to try and improve the atmosphere in the future to, so ideas from fans are good.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for standing if that's possible but at the moment the stadium is all seater and if someone wants to remain seated they should be able to. Not be forced to stand so they can see. BTW. I don't sit in the east stand, just making a case for those that do.

Cobbs fan here, I'm sure we'll contribute to the day! Good to see a scheme like this done to improve the atmosphere, which have been getting worse for years.
As Nptonexile mentioned, our home atmosphere has improved immeasurably over the last few weeks. In the top corner of our main stand near the away fans, a large group of lads (including me) have gathered and the atmosphere is so much better. We sing when we're losing as well as winning, and it's just a lot more enjoyable to be at games now.

Ntfc fan, its good to hear that the atmosphere has improved at your home matches. It's a better matchday experience for away fans, when they visit another ground and there is a decent atmosphere. Hopefully you can travel here in numbers on 24th November, and help create a special atmosphere. We are working on making that happen.
I must admit, I've become even prouder to be a supporter of Oxford United over the past week. I've had people contact me who have stopped going, or don't go much now, who have said they will be at the Northampton game as they want to show support for Ultimate Support Saturday, and want to be a part of it. I've had a young fan offer to bring balloons, other fans saying they will bring flags, and others saying they are bringing friends or family to the game, and I'm still getting asked how people can get involved, which is great. If you have your own ideas in the build up or what to bring on the day, then that is what this is about.
Thank you to everyone. There is still a lot to do, but I can't fault the way our fans are supporting this. It is our fans day, so we want every fan to be a part of it. I'm really looking forward to it.
A way fans can help, is to download the flyer and put it up so people can see it. Encourage others to come along. Buy tickets, and let's create the best atmosphere possible on 24th November.

So please if you can, support Ultimate Support Saturday, and let's make it the best one yet. I really admire and respect the work and enthusiasm put in by yourself and others to initiatives such as USS JL. I really hope this somehow reaches the eyes and ears of the manager -and more importantly- the players. When Supporters are putting in 100% effort and commitment and showing such high spirited enthusiasm- (despite what has been so far a pretty depressing season) You'd think/hope it would also help motivate the players!! Sadly they have fallen short too often when our expectations have been high, but let's try and be positive, and optimistic- yes, even this old cynic! After the dagnum debacle i really felt 'Enough is enough' and made my mind up to stop going, this decision was not made lightly, i have had the 'habit' of supporting the U's for a lifetime- but attending matches this season has been painful, not because of the defeats -or disappointing draws- seen plenty of those! It's well documented why the crowds are down, i'm just one of many. However, this campaign has inspired me and i mean to attend the USS match because of it, and i really hope others are too. I also hope -as stated, that the team give us the sort of performance we know they are capable of, to reward the Supporters, especially people such as yourself for the tremendous effort put it. UTM.

What i want more than anything else? A repeat of the Wimbledon game (without the crap down the front.) Us to concede, and the whole crowd, however many fans there may be, get behind the team and create a special atmosphere.
