There was a piece about this on BBC Radio Five Live this morning before 7am.
They have applied for a place in Rugby's Premier League and need to beat Cornish Pirates over two legs in a Play-Off BUT will need a min.12,000 all seater stadium to play at in order to gualify for the top flight plus they have to pass an strict financial audit.
Their business plan mentions two grounds in London (not Griffin Park, Brentford) and a third option outside London (could be Gillingham) apparently.

Think of the state of the pitch in the winter now. And then when rugby is played on it.

We would get a seven figure number from them if they played here. £0,000,000

Let's say Kassam secures this deal and they share the ground.
What then happens if we were to buy it?
If the contract stipulated that we would have to honour the agreement, does that mean we get a say in those discussions now?
And if Kassam was unable to add such a clause to the contract, would London Welsh really want to move in to a ground that may have a change of ownership within a few years, to then have to maybe find a new home.
Which I then guess leads on to the question. If OUFC owned the ground, would fans want us to share our ground with rugby team.

If we owned it, it would be a nice extra bit of cash, some used for keepingthe pitch nicer. As we don't own it. As a tenantof the ground don't we have a say if another team can use it? Didn't we'd get money off the rent . Sent from my HTC One X using ProBoards

Keep rugby off our pitch. I went to Bristol Rovers away this season and their pitch was an absolute joke.
I seriously hope they don't use ours in the future.

Maybe a rugby team as a tenant at the "Kass-stad" and the additional revenues it would generate would finally make purchasing the stadium feasible?
The biggest concern would be the pitch. But could the club get round this by investing in a new state-of-the-art pitch with astro-turf built into it? Or would it still turn into a muddy bog over the winter?

I'm pretty sure the pitch is a "desso", which has fibres woven in. Lifespan supposed to be about 10 years. Watford are changing theirs this summer, after 15 years. It has looked pretty shot for last couple of years.
Who would pay for a new pitch? Stadco, rugby club or oufc?

Stadco would be the people that have to. Not saying they will though, because they're cunts.

I have heard from an extremely reliable source that the deal to play at the Kassam will complete if they win promotion.

I was speaking to the stadium people last week and they stated a new stadium manager has been employed, with the aim to get the kass back on the map with events etc

I'm pretty sure the pitch is a "desso", which has fibres woven in. I recall this, didn't some delegates from Juventus visit on a fact finding mission shortly after it was laid?! I'm pretty sure it has been replaced by a standard turf job since.

Who would pay for a new pitch? Stadco, rugby club or oufc? Stadco, on the understanding that the rugby club would be paying £xxx per year for y number of years. This would no doubt be reflected in the stadium value and therefore selling price, but OUFC would also receive the revenue from the rugby should the stadium purchase go through.

The crowds are not that great at london welsh but with promotion to the pre div they would be bigger with the away support, but what if they got relegated would they afford the rent !, and they would need to strengthen the squad i would have thought, but with the facilities at the kass /quad, they would get backing from business`s

I don't get how this works. Aren't OUFC the tenants and pay a hefty price for that. How can the StadCo lease it to a rugby club too?
