Hmm so Van Kessel can’t backheel the ball. Couldn’t make it up. Begs the question why he did it then. It looked pretty damned cool

James Henry looks immense on the right, maybe a bit of an exaggeration but him and Ribiero remind me of the Baldock and Macdonald partnership down the right. Both support each other and link up really well. Ledson and Ruffles look solid in the centre and Wes Thomas has if i'm correct scored in every start he has made excluding Scunthorpe. Rap him in cotton wool and sign him for 2 more years. I didn't believe he was the man but at the moment he looks quality. Round of applause to Eastwood who made his routine hollywood save of the game to keep us ahead.

I thought the game would be up for AFCW in the summer and from what I saw today that's the case - they look to be hopeless relegation fodder. Watching them try to pop the ball around for the first hour was bizarre and they do not have the players with the ability to do it effectively, and without Elliot and Barnett they are missing a hell of a lot of physicality and nastiness. He may be 38 but they also missed Bulman loads compared to last season when he was still scuttling about everywhere and being a real pain.
Obviously there are a lot of games left plus another transfer window, but I really don't see a lot to suggest that they've got much hope of staying up. Are there four worse, weaker teams than them in this league? I'm not so sure.

Wes Thomas was my man of the match today as he provided a point of attack that allowed others to play. He caused problems for both centre-halves constantly and never let them rest. His goal was superb individual play after a beautifully weighted through ball.

I've always said it, Thomas gets a totally unjustified amount of stick, even one of the hosts on the NTT20 podcast (who is an oxford fan) this week described him as Conference standard, just look how much he bags! He's a goalscorer and if he'd been our main striker instead of Hemmings we would have comfortably made the playoffs. Also - scores important goals, the go-ahead goals - not the 3rd goal in a 3-0 win. Oldham, today, last week, Pompey off the top of my head, all nudged us ahead. He was absolutely brilliant today. Fantastic goal, great performance. That doesn't mean previous criticism of him isn't justified.

perm any one from 11. imo.. Thomas was very good but the defenders were pretty girly for his goal.
Thought the back 4 were excellent.

Just wish I'd had the balls to put a bet on! Predicted 3 - 0 on the Sky super six and as we were leaving saw the poor old bookie paying out quite a few at 16-1 for that same score! (that was the only score I got right!)

Brizzle may have won by six today, but that only brings their goal difference up to zero Northampton suffer a record home defeat at Sixfields - I did not see that coming said JFH. Rovers’ best player Billy Bodin was subbed with an injury after 39 mins when the score was 1-0. I hope he misses our match with them next week.

Bloke behind me has really got it in for Thomas. Even when he scored he said “he’s still shit”. Turn round and give him a Glasgow kiss

I've got to say all those haters on Henry can hold their heads in shame. He was pivotal last week to at Peterborough. Really? He was poor towards the start of the season and quite rightly some questioned what he brings to the team. I think he was better today and showed more of what he's capable of going forward. His preferred position is on the right and he showed that today let’s hope Pep keeps him there because he will be a big influence in the team.

Great result again, well done Oxford! Shame the boards go so quiet when we win It's not just this forum, twitter is a lot quieter after a win too. Eales was getting it from all angles after our 3rd loss on the bounce, but hasn't received any credit for our current good form. Odd that

By this time after the Bury game we were well into the 15th page on the match thread It's not just the difference between a win and a loss, though, is it. How many travelled to Bury? Those that didn't listened to the game and posted here, including venting their frustration afterwards. There are always fewer posting during a home game, and even fewer now that those of us who live abroad (and can afford to pay) watch the game.

Played our best football in first 20 minutes. We attacked with purpose and wasn't afraid to shoot. Nice to see Eastwood not having a backpass until minute 18 but his distrubtion was class to. Kicking better then recent weeks.
Also amusing that Lyle Taylor got outmuscled more then once by Ricardinho who is at least 5 inches smaller and probably 10kg lighter.

Xemi's goal deserves a mention. Great technique, I think a lot of people wouldn't have scored from that chance. Hopefully we can keep Ricardinho at the club in one way or another once he retires, think he'd make a good coach.

Just because he looks 40 doesn't actually mean he is, from what I have seen he will be fine for a couple of years.

Why do some people seem to revel in us doing badly when it happens? Why do people find it an awful lot easier criticising than praising? I am very confused about all of this. Some 'supporters' seem to almost love us losing and having a go. Very strange people in my view but...why??

But if my car develops a fault then when I get home I whinge..ALL football supporters expect their team to perform as expected - when they don't - it's a mechanical failure!

Very accomplished performance. Win the muck and nettles and win the game. ‘Ave it’ Ryan Ledson back to his best.
Henry my man of the match - he seems to be fit now. Thomas was sharp but you always watch him fearing he is about to have a career ending injury - talk about fragile.
AFC are trying to play a progressive game these days and as a result are relegation fodder. Poor central defenders as well.
Decent enough crowd today. - very enjoyable afternoon.
COYY.

No harm in seeing if he wants to commit for longer than that, seeing as he's got a kid on the way. Put him through his coaching badges if he wants it.
