I think they deserved it tbh but if we would have grabbed a point I think it would of been fair too. That makes absolutely no sense at all but you know where I'm coming from haha.
Should of scored that header at the end but they missed some very good chances too including 1 sitter of a header.
We move on. Let's see how we bounce back. Still on the positivity bus who's with me??

My internet crashed, and once I reloaded the page the match had ended, so the "Live Match" page on the Official Site became a "Match Report", so there appears to be no way for me to tune back into the RadOx coverage. Anyone able to transcribe Pep's post-match interview (regarding the Johnson situation)?

Anyone able to transcribe Pep's post-match interview (regarding the Johnson situation)? You can go directly to BBC Radio Oxford, and get the end of the interview, and everything else. Oh, interview just over. Precaution that MJ didn't come up (tightness in his hamstring), and "he's not for sale". www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_oxfordCheers, Jon

tough game, thought a draw would have been fair all things considered. We were always trying to be positive with the ball, hit the bar twice and by no means looked like the weaker team. They finished 3rd last year so its not an easy place to come. Still think we are in a good place right now. On to the next match.

Anyway, I don't know if you're aware, but you received a few compliments for your work. On-topic: Disappointing to lose, as always, but they're a good team. Back to the training ground and onto Shrewsbury next weekend.

Need a response against Shrewsbury next Saturday. Nothing to worry about, 3 games in and we've only conceded 1 league goal and scored 5. This time last year under MAPP we had scored twice and conceded 5 in the league and we already have one less point compared to which we had on the 3rd September last year . Scunthorpe are a very good outfit and should finish in top 6 this season. REF made some questionable decisions but that is football and we have to bounce back next Saturday. So lets all get behind the team next Saturday and create a good atmosphere against Shrewsbury, and outsing them and that annoying drum they need to create atmosphere. We can play apart next Saturday if we do this and help the nteam in crucial points off the game.

We were thoroughly decent against what will surely be a top 6 side. Midfield competitive, centre backs well organised, ricardinho is going to become a cult hero I think. I reckon we are one top league 1 centre forward away from being a top 4 side. They just had a bit more from us up there. Second half, despite no great mistakes by us? They carved out about five good chances, whereas we only looked properly threatening on the break.

I agree about the striker but at this late stage in the transfer window they're going to cost top dollar. As we're playing hardball with Johnson, so will other teams with their leading assets. Do we 'bite the bullet and splash the cash' or hope that the recruitment dept can unearth another gem?

Do we 'bite the bullet and splash the cash' or hope that the recruitment dept can unearth another gem? Go for the player, and allow him time in to make an impact. There are four months to the January window, then three months of the season left from the end of January. DE said there was money available to bring people in. You cannot underestimate how well we played today. We are a side still bedding in, they are established, having been together as a unit for quite some time. Play offs last year, previously in the championship. Yes this season stability. But two months down the line, players know each others strengths, with an out goal scorer, there is not one standout team in this league to be fearful of.

Well we aren't world heaters nor are we a poor side. Would be nice to see more cutting edge but not worried yet. winning two and loosing one is pretty decent form. Especially if we improve over the season. The transfer window hasn't shut and if we offload Johnson then I'm sure we will improve. Chalk today down as a learning experience like Cheltenham.

Think maybe we are closer to success than you imply. There's no point in seeing a season as consolidation as very likely we will see another big turnover next summer. Honestly think that biting the bullet to sign a genuine goalscorer will pay dividends. We are told that there is money to spend - now that we know close we are to a promotion competitive squad, I think that now is the time.... I know we lost today, but in overall play I think we looked the more comfortable. We generally had better shape and more options on the ball. They managed to build up a head of steam second half, but we still always looked reasonably controlled and dangerous on the break. I'm approaching the conductor on the positive bus, but if we lost Marvin and signed a really serious centre forward I'd be rushing towards the front of the queue.

Think ledson needs to take shooting lessons from the edge of the box. Ledson was my mom but can't shoot. Hall as well. If we had mcaleny today I think we would have won.

Not too dispirited. Scunthorpe almost totally bossed the second half. With the amount of pressure they had, it wasn't a surprise when they scored. They'll certainly be in the mix at season's end.
Superb performances from Nelson and Williamson, and skilful touches from several of our players that augers well for the rest of the season. The only thing that disappointed me was our failure to convert our limited number of chances. In the second half, van Kessel's effort was weak, and as for Ledson's two shots ....
Overall, still happy.

That run out of defence and when he turned there player on the left...2 brilliant bits of play from him. How come every time an Oxford player goes down its play on, if one of theirs goes down its a free kick and a booking

Honestly, we were really decent. Better than against pompey (who were shit). We have the makings of our best side since 95/96. If we had Paul Moody in his prime on the books I'd be pretty confident. But we don't. Yet.

We won't concede a lot, but we won't score loads from what I have seen. If Johnson goes and we use the money to buy a quality centre forward I think we will go up, the line forward is our weakest position, it's a hard position to fill but I would happily exchange Johnson to strengthen there.

We never got out of second gear and still nearly nicked a point. If we'd got into third gear for the last half an hour we would have likely broken the deadlock and taken at least a point. Scunthorpe had to go through third gear into fourth to grab a goal.
Thought taking Payne off was a mistake. He was just getting a feel for the ball in the final third and his work rate was much missed when Van Kessel came on and started strolling about.

For me, most people are spot on. They deserved to win but it's not dispiriting at all. They're a very good team. We lost our way a bit in the 2nd half. After they scored, we reverted to the long ball, the worst thing we could do, yet we still nearly scored right at the end.
We have a very very good defence and midfield. Need some more ideas up front. Not sure if we have that or if we need to buy that.
Overall an enjoyable game to watch. They'll be up there and we're not far behind.

I agree , v good post .I think when VK and Obika bed into the starting 11 we will have all we need and be a pretty potent force. At times first half we played some scintillating football. Second half we soaked up as much as we could and the defence was generally solid on both flanks and down the middle. It's impossible for any team playing away to not give away a few chances however and they took one of there's very well indeed with a quick counter attack. I couldn't say it was bad defending. It was indeed a great game between 2 excellent Div 1 teams.
