Another signing that nobody could predict. HITC are usually a bit hit-and-miss but they were right about Ricardinho so let's see.
Looks like a solid signing on paper with a decent amount of experience.

Get in, this was the one I've been hoping we would sign since may. Just didn't wanna mention it and curse it

So does this mean one out as we seem to have an abundance of midfielders

So does this mean one out as we seem to have an abundance of midfielders From last season it seems we have replaced Sercombe with Xemi and this new fella will be a Lundstram replacement.

4 central Mids Lego Ruffels Xemi Pekalski For two spaces isn't really an abundance. I think rothwell is seen as completion for Payne or out wide rather than centrally

Seems a tad 'injury prone' but have faith that he'll be a decent addition. The fact we're paying a fee may imply Pep sees him as a starter? So if he's an improvement on Ruffels he can't be too bad

Six yellow cards in 15 games this season. He probably knew he was leaving and wanted to settle some old scores.

He's only had a 4 week break in June. He's going to be knackered if we get to the play-offs.

Do we know that he's definitely a central midfielder?

Looks like a solid signing on paper with a decent amount of experience. From memory HITC were right about Lindsay, Payne, Lundstram and Ricardinho, so I'm optimistic for this one.

Assuming we don't lose any more players before the end of the window, I reckon we actually have great squad depth now. Would be a shame for Ruffels if he got dropped now, his improvement has been exponential since he's had a run in the side.

I find it interesting that the team I follow in CZ 1st liga have an abundance of midfielders and only 4 identified defenders and 5 strikers.! It's the coming continental way folks:-)

I live in Sweden - one of my colleagues is a Malmö fan and only says good things about this, and about Ricardinho. I have to say the quality of the Swedish Allsvenskan (top league) isn't great but there are still some great players around. Fingers crossed this works out!

The way they describe his "Bästa attribute," he will be a great part of the puzzle that was missing on Saturday!

Right, my Swedish is a little rusty, but had a go at reading through and basically, it seems to be about the unspoken nature/stigma of mental health issues due to the stresses of being a top-flight footballer, and Ivo Pekalski being one to try and change that and destigmatise talking about mental health within football, having overcome such challenges himself. He used to suffer panic attacks, sleeplessness, social phobia ("to go and get milk at the local supermarket was a big ordeal, I was afraid to pick up the telephone to talk to anyone"), dark thoughts. He speaks about having been so depressed (I believe during rehab) that he couldn't even choose between different ice cream flavours (Swedes love ice cream). Went to get treatment for it and recommends it to any footballers. "Pekalski describes himself as a thinker, a reader, a writer... found it hard to open up about his problems in the changing room due to the macho culture of football. His three tips towards helping with mental health issues are 1) Dare to speak openly about it 2) Recognise/see mental health issues as something normal 3) Realise that you're not along, and that there are many others going through/experiencing the same thing as you". He's a believer in "prehab", training which actively prevents issues from occuring, rather than reacting to them after they've happened, allowing you to build up a psychological buffer. He's gone to Lebanon and helped/volunteered in the refugee camps, currently studying psychology at university, and is working to put together a collection of stories around mental health in elite football. Seems a good egg to have overcome that and try to help others do likewise (according to a FIFPRO study they cite in the article, around 38% of footballers suffer from depression or anxiety to a degree that qualifies as a mental health issue). Please feel free to run it through google translate though, I may have got a lot of that wrong. Also seems he won Sweden's young player of the year award as a 19 year old at Malmo, so not just a middling sort within the top flight.

Says that his weakness is discipline and his style of play is to commit fouls often. Sounds a bit feisty and likes to get stuck in.

Second Swede to join us. First being Pal Lundin.
Then again, an actual swede painted yellow may well have been more use than Steve Anthrobus at times.
