I like Tiendalli's comment in the OM regarding the game against Birmingham : "We put a lot of crosses in but no one was there". Pretty much sums up where we're at. Hopefully thats where someone like Lee Erwin comes in

We'll see in two weeks how the squad shape up. We need a striker and left back as a minimum I think before we ok at loans Not the best reports on him i know but I have a feeling we will sign Raheem Hanley at LB. Had a little read up on him and it would seem he has potential but maybe his attitude has let him down. Might be a hidden gem (along with a few of our other signings of late!) He certainly has talent. Maybe Pep can get the best out of him. Is he still on trial with us?

Comments from Harry said we put in a lot of quality but we were unlucky with our chances. I would prefer we signed a couple of forwards who made their own luck in front of goal.

Im not sure but until we hear otherwise (or a new LB signs) im guessing he is still with us. Wouldn't be surprised to see him start the game next week against Leeds with Johnson in front of him. If that goes well (especially, as they are a Championship team) then you would think its pretty much nailed on.

Wasn't too impressed with Hanley in his first game. But there was a definite improvement in the last game. He certainly has pace and can almost match Johnston in that way. He made a couple of overlap runs that look really good. I haven't seen him long enough to make any real judgement on his defensive abilities but reports from elsewhere (a couple of Northampton supporters) suggest he is at least adequate in that department. He would answer at least one major problem if he does turn out to be good enough.

All that Hanley possesses is pace and I don't see him as the answer to the left back problems. He got knocked off the ball a few times, caught out of position but worst of all he has no technical ability on the ball he sliced/ shanked long balls on several occasions. He tried to get a partnership with Johnson but kept underplaying the ball to him and other team mates and when he made the over lapping run did not have the composure to put in a decent Cross. It's a no from me I'd like a riberio type left back one that is defensively minded first but has the physical and technical ability to get up the pitch and make an impact.

I am prepared to back Pep enough to think that if he believed that all Hanley has is pace he wouldn't even have got onto the pitch on Saturday. I really don't think that Pep comes across as that daft?

Maybe it was a bit of nerves, but he just didn't look like a L1 quality player to me - right attitude, fit, and laudable efforts to get forward and support Johnson, but ultimately if you can't guarantee hitting a team mate with your passing the majority of the time. Could be he's showing something in training that PepC likes that wasn't coming out on the pitch.

He played one game in the Championship for Blackburn, was then picked up by Swansea and played 4 games for Northampton last season. He is only 23. It is hardly a great CV but presumably Pep sees something in him having been at Swansea the same time as him. I would suggest that it is a little bit of a gamble, but to suggest that all that he has is pace would seem to be strange if a Premiership club took him on when he was 21.

Can anyone who went tell me how Ravel Morrison played? Ridiculous take t that lad has got, just a horrendous attitude. I think Ferguson said he was the most talented player to come through United's academy since Giggs, Scholes etc. Was rated more highlights than Pogba who was the same age.
