Do we want a situation where we are constantly moving training ground and working from portakabins. Mapp stressed in the past just how important the training facilities are. More so than a stadium that u use 23 times a year, as u are there all week. Better facilities also help when attracting better players. We were offered our own section of the new council site, built to spec to suit our needs, and close to the ground. Seems we are cutting off our nose to spite, by turning that down just because we weren't considered to run the full site. Absolutely this. And to pick up "backonthecoupon"'s point, I don't recall us owning a training ground, but the current situation is probably the most professional and stable it has been in my memory. I'd certainly not like to see us return to the semi-nomadic existence which Charlie seems to suggest would be ok. To my mind, a proper training facility with the Academy co-located is what we should have if we have any pretentions of being a "proper" football club. Having to commercially rent two separate locations (one for 1st team, one for Academy) seems like lunacy. That would be nice Myles A stadium a training ground and the academy all linked together, it would be great to have someone onnoard With the money for that. I think with the deal between Sartori and Eales falling through then I believe the chance to have everything in one place has also fallen through.

I don't think the oxford city site is to include the first team. And in reply to the previous poster , yes it would be great to own our own site, but that would involve pumping in millions. BMW are funding the horse path Rd site and we could have it built to the exact spec we require and have it available for the times we need it. Yes we didn't get the contract to run the whole site, but it's still the best option currently available, there isn't the room at city to house the academy, first team, ladies team as well as what city need Can someone hurry up and win the Euro millions, pretty please. 😊Just had a thought (some may say unusual, stupid etc ) but could supporters make a syndicate for the Euro lotteries with the winnings going into a trust fund or something that is dedicated to supporting OUFC ?

Isn't what is being proposed with the Oxford City solution or am I missing something proper training facility)? I totally agree that having the Stadium/ training facilities right next to each other is what should happen. But we know the problem there.... I don't think the oxford city site is to include the first team. And in reply to the previous poster , yes it would be great to own our own site, but that would involve pumping in millions. The issue was that not everything would be ready for this season so we needed to find a training base until the end of this season which has been done by staying where we are for 1 more season.

I think that was the long term plan , in the short term there just isn't the room. This was from January In a joint statement between the clubs and the council, it has also been confirmed that discussions are under way, albeit at an early stage, for building a permanent training ground for United’s first team on the site. I may be wrong but I don't think that's progressed at all, the whole site around cpf is being dug up for flood relief scheme at the min. We will have use of the stadium , bar and a new 3G pitch which means it can be used more, then there is a few other pitches out side but nowhere near the facilities or space that there would be at horsepath. After all it's designed for a part time non league side. Loads made fun of McAleny for choosing a smaller club than us in fleetwood. But look at their facilities. This is the sort of thing we should be aspiring to if we want to be a championship club. We could have that at horspath without having to pay £8m. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3549665/Sir-Alex-Ferguson-opens-Fleetwood-Town-s-fantastic-new-8m-training-base-legendary-boss-wishes-copied-gym-layout-Manchester-United.html

This also suggests we're looking more at Brookes than oxford city now, another change of plan, probably see the women's team at city. Academy at horspath and first team at Brookes. Which would tie in with them doing our data from the packs the players wear and us having a new director from inside the uni

Re the City option I wonder if the Council have suggested that panning was unlikely?

I think it's literally just space mate, I had a big walk round it all the other day trying to get my little one off to sleep, if u took over the whole of that site I still don't think you would fit enough training pitches and other facilities that u need. There's a lot of sides in the academy

There's a lot of sides in the academy I think it'd be touch and go if City actually has enough pitches just for first team use. Remember, these pitches see a lot intensive use - something like 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. A quick glance at the KasStad pitch shows how quickly things can deteriorate with much less use than that. As a result, you need a number of pitches so they can be used in rotation and given an opportunity to recover; that's what happens at BMW now.

Don't forget that the main pitch is an artificial pitch that can presumably be used all of the time, but yes probably still not enough.
