Wigan, Blackburn, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Bradford City, Bristol Rovers, Milton Keynes Dons, Charlton, Fleetwood Town, Scunthorpe United.... You've listed 10 clubs there... so you don't think we will have a top 6 budget as DE has stated? At the moment no, with feegate, staff leaving over the last year and not being replaced, eales confident of being chairman come the start of the season but things clearly going in behind the scenes, a key player leaving.

DE stated before that our budget will be a top 6 budget next season. That still doesn't mean we are going to sign superstars, that isn't our club's model now. Maguire was classed as a marquee signing last season yet it was the signings of Eastwood and Ledson which turned out better IMO. People wrote Eastwood off when he signed and no one had heard of Ledson.
I know it sounds crazy but for the first time in a long time supporting OUFC I fully trust the owner and manager to bring the right players to the club.
I do understand though that when we do sign someone that no one has heard of or isn't a big name I am expecting Sussox to moan.

Like who exactly?
Why wouldn't he be confident considering he is the one in control of selling the club and has more of a understanding of the current situation than anybody else?
Which key player is leaving? I haven't seen any key players leaving so far unless you mean Sercombe and Skarz who I wouldn't class as key players.

Sercombe was hardly a key player. Things going on behind the scenes? I hope so, unless you propose that the club be maintained on a life support machine. You do post some nonsense.

Which key player is that? Neither of the two leaving today fit that description. Try Sercombe. DE has stated clearly that the model is to sell at least one player a year. Re Sercombe, my suspicion is that he was due a signing on fee for activating his extension but I could be wrong. There is no way that he could be considered as a key player. I reckon that the player most likely to move is Johnson which could well happen. Roofe and COD obviously went last season and we hardly did badly as the recruitment at the moment is pretty impressive. To me MAPP sees relaxed about it all and there is no reason to panic!

Was it a u-turn or was it a case of agreeing fees with the clubs but then couldn't agree on contract terms with the players? DE has proved he will spend money but he also wouldn't pay over the odds or pay players more than what MApp thinks is right.
We paid a fee for Hemmings and people moaned, we then don't spend money and people moan.

McAleny wouldn't of come if we had spent money on a fee. Maybe DE and MApp thought it was better to get McAleny in rather than buy someone? Yes we were short for the run in but we were very unlucky with long term injuries this season. We might have a good budget but we still need to try and balance the books.

Yes but it went from signing 3 to only signing 2 loans if two full time players left. That is a u turn in what was said no matter how good the loans coming in we're. Maybe we were even looking to make a bid for McAleny at that point but had to change it to a loan. I'm not moaning about it, it is what it is and worked out ok ish. I just answered what I thought he was referring to as "feegate"

I'm not too sure Taylor and McDonald would of freed massive money up personally anyway.

And there is also a chance we didn't pay anything for the loans, which is also common place in the loan market with smaller teams.

I'm only going by some of the Peterborough chairman's comments and they have paid fees for their prem youngsters so wouldn't be too unthinkable that mcaneny and Martinez required a fee or a percentage of their loans paid. However it was a U turn, that's why I'm not a big fan of him making public comments like that.

Agree, same with signings it's a waiting game, I would rather wait the two extra days and they just announce it, than miss a deadline and have to deal with the melt down from some fans that it's obviously going tits up.
