Never started one before today and actually a really important match so here goes. I recon 2-0 Oxford (Connor and Martinez) (no one ever predicts an Oxford Loss) 8200 attendance. Appleton declare we are the best side in league 1 to wind up Old Chippy. The referee will be declared ok/good by the winning side awfull/inept from the loosing side. Man of the match display by the Eastwood. TVP arrest/threaten a random oxford fan in the north stand just because they can. Oxford will be declared worldbeaters again and Bristol rovers will be but a bad dream. Hopefully the Ultras will be back again with a good display too!

Interesting match coming up tomorrow.
Sheffield United have been playing 3-4-1-2 the last 5 matches, with O'Connell, Wright and Basham as the back 3. I will be interested to see Martinez against Wright. I think we can get at Basham also.
Hopefully we can get Hall/Maguire close to starting tomorrow, as we will need players that can carry the ball, run at the back 3. For me, our game plan should be get wide, get balls in the 6 yard box. All 3 of Rochdale's goals came from crosses. Prior to that Scunthorpe and Fleetwood also scored from crosses.
Attacking Sheffield get plenty of balls into the wide areas crossing for Hanson and Sharp to pick up the scraps in the box. They also play in to the feet of Hanson a lot, him linking with midfield and Sharp. Theyve produced the most crosses in the league, from both the left and right, with around 15% in to the 6 yard box. Again, looking forward to the Hanson/Dunkley battle!
Anyway, will be a different game to Bristol with them pressing and committing more men to attacking positions....this suits us a lot more!

He'll score then! Him versus Dunks and/or Nelson could be some battle. Potentially a race to see who gets sent off first.

We're not a bad team, just a bit short of quality in numbers in the squad. Sounds promising regards the injured players, hope they don't push themselves too much though because they have a Wembley place in mind.
Good attendance, vibrant atmosphere and old chippy back on his stromping ground, should be a fun night! U's 3 - Sheff Utd 1.

I think we will do very well to win any of our next 3 games, the team is stretched to the limit, injuries are starting to take their toll and although we look a fit side, the games are coming too quickly to recover properly, Playing Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday at this stage of the season would stretch the biggest of squads and we are by no means blessed with the numbers of players to cope. We are a team that thrive on a bit of time and space on the ball to play at our best and teams who "get amongst it" seem to get their rewards against us, Sheffield United will almost certainly get promoted this season, in fact, they will probably win the league and coming to Oxford will certainly not faze them, add in the Chris Wilder effect and you would expect the South Yorkshire outfit slight favourites, however we all know what we can produce when we are not expected to get a result. . OXFORD UNITED - 1 Sheffield United - 3 Att - 7989 (1156 visitors) . COME ON YOU YELLOWS..........!!!!!

Oxford trying to play a passing game on a rapidly deteriorating pitch. Injuries and loss of form. A side that falls apart when things get really physical. Liable to be a 3-0 loss I 'm afraid.
Oh how I wish I am wrong!

Interesting one this game, Appleton would have in no uncertain terms told the team that Saturday was not even half good enough and the fact that it's wilder will have the team fired up, however this is an extremely strong Sheffield united team and one capable of playing a few different styles so I can't see the pitch being a problem for them like it is us. If Hanson plays then our boys need to stand strong to the physical battle and not crumble like they did against rovers, if sharp plays then they need to be on guard at all times as he is far to good to be playing at this level. I can see it being a hotly contested game but quite open. I'm gunna go for a 2-2 draw. Ledson and Johnson the scorers.

How many were here when he was? NONE of the starters thats for sure. But I hope something fires them up after Saturdays abject performance. Maybe just playing the top team will do it. COYY

If any one of the injury doubts were able to play tonight I personally hope it's Nelson.
CB pairing were all over the place on Saturday and think Dunks looks a completely different player when partnered with Nelson. Was more like some of the performances we saw from him last season - getting a yellow card vs. Exeter on Boxing Day and getting subbed at HT springs to mind.
