The scenes when our equaliser went in though...We really deserved a replay.
The side deserves so much credit for getting back into the game.

From one of the 'boro forums: "Well done oxford for giving it a go particularly in the second half their fans should be proud, i underestimated them before the game tbh." Quite a lot more in similar vein too Hate those patronising comments I don't think it was patronising, the poster was genuinely surprised by the quality of our team and fans. How would we express ourselve about a team from two divs down who had brought more than 10% of our home crowd 300 miles and played such a close run game?

Problem is Skarz would have really struggled with Traore's pace. Problem is YA is a t*at he may well be. But he knows the laws of the game and can see the bleeding obvious the fact others have agreed with me about the defending shows i'm not a lone view. Everyone has an opinion mine is i would rather we play people in their positions. You pick the best team not the best 11 players.

In my B&B driving back tomorrow. Hopefully my back will have eased up a bit, I ended up at the bottom of a pile of celebrating fans who launched themselves from 3 rows back when our second goal when in......WHAT A PERFORMANCE? FANS TASTIC TOO. Pity the ref yet again spoiled it for us..
Great stuff!
Boro have nothing but praise for the team and the fans it seems.🤗

Is that a penalty if the player has basically lost control of the ball and is a couple of yards away when contact has been made?

Proud of the effort from the team. Not the best performance overall but fantastic drive to get back into the game from 2-0 down. Those two minutes were as good as any watching the Ox, mad scenes. Fans were unreal.
Our stopped at a services (near Sheffield?)on the way home, along with a number of other coaches and completely took over the place. Cue the team coach arriving and the players walking into the services to applause and 'yellows' echoing round the place.
They looked pretty tired and dissapointed tbh, the game must have been quite gutting for them, as much as we enjoyed it as fans.

Their 3rd goal. Their striker on Nelson, did the same thing as Hemmings did for the disallowed goal.

MOTD pundits think the disallowed goal should have stood...
Although we have just been called 'Oxford city'

I thought it was from what I saw on brief highlights earlier on today. But watching the ball, Downing had lost control and looked for the contact. My question is more from idle curiosity than blaming the Ref.

From watching the highlights, in terms of the contentious decisions imo that was a definite penalty, and a clear goal to us. Slightly strange that they edited the commentary - on the web she says 'there's not much in that' regarding Hemmings' nudge on the defender, while in what went out on the tv she says 'a good spot by Andre Marriner'.

It's nice to hear the tv pundits say that was a perfectly good goal and it should have stood also seeing both the U's player and the Boro player lying in the centre circle when the penalty had been awarded and not stopped play because of potential serious head injuries. Obviously some on here will disagree.

Really f*cking pisses me off when they can't even get our name right. They're paid substantial sums of money to give "expert" opinions and get our f*cking name wrong AGAIN! If I was doing their job I wouldn't say Queens Park Rovers or Plymouth Athletic for example, it is so shockingly poor, and I for one find it offensive.

Possibly one of the most intense match days ever in nearly 50 years of following OUFC.
On field the comparison between first half and second half was massive. Despite our feeble first half performance, we should have only been 1 down at break, thanks to that Marriner decision.
Second half awesome- we simply outplayed a team of eight internationals - once you count the subs. The hard core know this team is going places. Man of match, Maguire of course.
Off pitch, it was extremely er... feisty. We paid for a Hardwick Bar package - reasonably good value/ so we were effectively sitting in Boro areas as were quite a few other Oxford supporters of all ages - and it could have easily got nasty. Some of the Boro fans went from mega patronising to Incredible Hulk very quickly. . Yellows in our area were being pushed and abused after we equalised. You shouldn't expect this behaviour at football any more. If we had scored a winner....
On the other hand some of the Boro supporters we met were great lads and lasses- they are a passionate bunch. It all made for a helluva day.

I'm being mentioned for what? The home support was shit without a drum. Our ultras were so much better even without a drum. The flags were decent which I went on to say. Oxford sang them, simple as that.

Long trip back with the A43 closed but at least the MK diversion meant we came back via Bicester so didnt have to go Kidlington then Bicester as planned

Have to say I was really disappointed with the first half - we were so poor, slow and weak. Second half I'd say we were stil the second best team but the togetherness and the passion displayed by the players earned us a few goals, and made a disappointing game a pretty good one.
The fans of both teams were really good. I don't need to discuss our fans- If you were there you'll know. I've watched a lot of live Premier league games and that was the best Premier League home crowd I've witnessed. The quality of home crowd in England is incredibly poor these days but the two sets of fans bounced off each other so well! Made for a great experience!
I came home to watch Match of the Day for our small comeback and to see how we looked on TV. It is disappointing that we were hidden away from the cameras as a group of fans, and the microphones didn't seem to be on us very much - I thought we were very loud and it didnt really come across on the box.
Also, the female commentator thing really gets on my nerves. Every fan, at least deep down, is disappointed when the BBC female commentator gets wheeled out every week or twoif she's doing their game. The excitement and energy which a male commentator can muster just can't be replicated by women. I'm sure she loves football but her voice just isn't right for commentary. Leave it to the men.
Anyway, very proud. Season is pretty much over now unless we can string a few wins together in the league and remount our playoff assault. But if it is over, there is no better way to end it than with a game like that. Season objectives complete if we can keep our noses above 10th.
