You've got to hand it to MAPP again for the in your face approach, the inspired substitutions and the team's fitness.
Who is our most valuable squad member now, Ledson? There are not many of his type in the modern game. And he's only 19!
As for the barcodes, some of these highly paid imports really can't hack muck and nettles football can they? They looked petrified of the high ball.
That left back was the worst defender I have seen all season.
Benitez didn't seem to be arsed about the result in the post match press con. Very disappointing approach. Anyway Geordie Nation Annhialation.
We move on. 😉

- Sunday: papers - Monday: FA Cup 5th(!) round draw - Tuesday: quarter final of another cup competition - Wednesday: onwards build up to their Cup Final - Sunday: Scum away My kind of week! Anyone else woke up this morning wondering if yesterday really happened? Shame our Chairman wasn't there to see it. Regarding DE's absence on what was a massive game for the club does anyone know why he couldn't attend? Don't think I'm breaking the ITK confidences by saying that it was a long-arranged business trip to Australia. Pity he was there to see it and take a lot of satisfaction from what he has built. Hopefully, with various players having gone up in value and the prospect of a really good Pay-Day to come (going to be hard to keep us out of the TV games this time!) the general situation will calm down and we all go back to enjoying this golden period. Cripes, we've had enough bad times to need to revel in our first real good times for 20 years.

The 3-0 lucky charm worked a treat as time out so I am sticking with it although in all honestly a draw and a trip to the land of the rising hem line would not be totally unwelcome. 3-0, Maguire to score and a cameo from Martinez. Amersham Dave's dog will bring on a dead mongoose and frighten the life out of Eastwood. I do have to say it's very nice to have the distraction of a football match amongst all this nonsense. Good call. Apart from the mongoose bit!

I think that was about right regarding match of the day. Lincoln definitely deserve top spot, I can understand the Liverpool game too as they have had a shocking week. Tottenham 4-3 Wycombe was a brilliant fa cup game plus was live on TV in other country's thats why the better highlights. Then our game which wasn't live anywhere in the world so they had to dig some highlights out and to be honest was nice to see it as a report alongside radio Oxford commentary. Only downside is the talking points afterwards but that'should maybe down to the coverage they had of our game. Only disappointment on the coverage was them not showing Mitrovic slipping over on his arse like the highlights on the BBC website. It was on the Red Button last night for all to enjoy! Check today maybe?

Check today maybe? Cheers but I saw it on the Interweb. It would have been lovely for all the MOTD viewers to get to see it as it is amusing.

Let's have a bit of sympathy for Newcasle though, as Rafa points out, you can't put out a full strength squad when you play as many game as they do. After all, they've played 34 competitive games this season already. We've only played 39.....Hang on a minute...

My views on the game - Talking to a Newcastle fan before the game who didn't even know what division we were in. He gave me the impression they were just going to turn up and get the win. In the ground to me it felt like a normal league game, I had no nerves what so ever During the first half though we were doing ok and sticking to our game plan. Newcastle looked like they were expecting a goal to just appear for them Second half great start and we didn't look back, thought their pen was a foul outside the box but their 45 muscled his way into the box and fell over. Thought, oh well it'll be 1-1 so no biggy.... then up step Eastward Martinez song was brilliant - take a bow whoever thought hat one up Thought we were the best team and could have had 6

Not read all the thread but has anyone mentioned the ref? Thought he was very very good. Can't really argue with the penalty he gave either.

He was a good ref but in my opinion the initial foul was outside the box

When the Newcastle team flashed up on his phone he pointed down the list saying, 'not good enough, not good enough, not good enough, rubbish etc and declared that we would win by two clear goals.

He was a good ref but in my opinion the initial foul was outside the box As pointed out elsewhere, it carried on into the box and with current rules, that's a penalty.

I didn't think the ref was anything special. The Newcastle players were falling over very dramatically all the time in the first half and he fell for it every time. I also thought both of the very late tackles they put in at the end of the match deserved bookings. However, I guess he didn't make any huge mistakes (their pen was a pen IMO) that affected the match and for that I am grateful.

As it was raining and had a bit of anorak time for myself I thought I should take a few minutes of my afternoon licking the windows of some of the Newcastle fans forums. I'm glad I didn't spend too long in doing so as it really was just as I expected.
However, given that some Newcastle fans may also lick the windows of our forum I would like to remind one or 52,000 of them once more that their record of playing Oxford in Oxford is pretty poor to say the least and in the not too distant future when Newcastle return it will not matter a toss to us on whether they choose to play their supposedly 'better' first eleven or their second or third eleven as they will in all probability get stuffed again. Really what I want to say is.....that normal service was resumed again yesterday.

He needs to do some research on past results in Oxford vs Newcastle games in Oxford and also in Cup games.
