Absolutely buzzing Appleton deserves so much credit for building this squad of hungry young players & Eales deserves credit for backing him. Midfield two Lunstrum and Ledson were immense today. Eastwood top drawer. How disappointing were the toon army, so quiet, hardly made a noise all game. Couldn't believe how they cleared off at 3-0. At the end of the game probably only 400 of the 1,800 remained.

When we were in League 2 I can think of at least Bristol R & Argyle who created more noise.

That was unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. If we get Blackburn again or someone like Huddersfield I'll be livid. We've earned a peach of a tie between this and last season. Get win vs. Newcastle reserves. Lets not get too carried away.

Far, far too good for them. Far, far too strong. Too quick etc etc Typical big club arrogance that just because they get 30k ever week they think they automatically produce talented players from their fringe, reserves, academy or wherever If you come down to us having failed to do your homework with anything like under strength we will pick you apart We're not some small time, plucky journey men anymore. We're coming Newcastle didn't give a toss. Look at the team they put out. Guarantee they fans were fighting over that point. Financially they have to be back in epl this season. We were excellent. But lets not get too carried away.

Get win vs. Newcastle reserves. Lets not get too carried away. No, it was the manner and dominance of the victory against a team that started with Perez and Mitrovic as their strikers. Brighton reserves came here in August and beat the living crap out of us in the League Cup. This time an equally strong (if not stronger) second string came here and got taken apart. The progress inside a few months is a joy to behold. I don't think we're world beaters but we're getting better, a lot better, and we're starting to see that. If you were looking at the bigger picture you'd understand why people are so excited. Don't be so linear.

Yup. Huge performance from pretty much everyone really. Ledson puts in some massive tackles (and gets away with them!). Johnson scared them witless in the second half (probably in the first too, but it's difficult to see from the East Stand!) - a couple of absolute class moves playing past their RB and collecting the ball in front of him. Eastwood - don't need to say anything. Dunks as ever won everything. Class all round. Best I've seen this season. Apart from mitrovic they weren't at all up for the cup.

Wonder how far down the MOTD order we'll be today?! We'll have to sit through even more analysis of a Premier League team and a debate of the credentials in the league, despite the fact they've knocked out of the cup.

Goes to show mapp needed the time to bed in new team. I mapp we trust. But I don't think rafa will be losing too much sleep. Promised land is where want and need to be. But get pr for us. Let the good times roll!😁

The crowd did a good job of winding Mitrovic up from the kick off. The players did their part, but the crowd just got under his skin and the reaction to the banter was, for me, one of those moments where I thought gotcha. After the reaction, he looked a bit in and out of the game.
Within a few mins, the people around me were all pretty chuffed to have Martinez. The cameo was rather good.
The best draw for us is away at Premier League club. Just the scale of money would eclipse a home draw. These are the games we need to appreciate. The days of playing Grays/Altrincham at home are the crappy counter point to the cup runs we've been on in the past couple of seasons. Enjoy it while we have it.

Well, Charlie... not a great draw, was it? Very boring. Wish we'd drawn Watford away as you suggested. I' have been really delighted to have beaten Watford as well. And we'd have made twice as much. What I actually said - fake poster - is that I'd be hugely excited about the game whoever we drew, and would see it as a huge deal to make 5th round whatever happened. But I don't see anything particular about Newcastle today that made a difference. Any away team would have brought 1500, very few stars on the pitch, no TV money - it was US that made it special today, not them. If you don't believe me, please don't tell me that drawing another Championship club in the next round would be a great draw! Any draw is a 'great draw' when you win it, but a little basic objectivity, please: surely a 'great draw' will be a big club away, a really good draw a big club at home or a 'winnable one' at home (ie a game one is favourite for) and a decent draw would be a Premier League game full-stop as we'd be guaranteed the telly at least. Yup; never wrong are you? Even when you're wrong.
