Lundstram's fifth booking, suspended one game only. All other bookings I presume are expunged now? I don't think that they're expunged; it's just that from today players don't get a suspension for 5 yellows. However, whatever they have to this point will get added to, and once they get close to 10 bookings they're again in danger of missing a game. Could be wrong though. No I doubt you're wrong, that actually makes perfect sense.

I think I described Dunkley perfectly yesterday, fantastic at heading and tackling but he can't play football. He is awful with the ball at his feet!

Do we know how many we took yesterday? Looked around the 650-700 mark.

Yeh, I think Dunkley's style could be described as 'unsophisticated'. Pretty reliable when going for headed clearances, and I'd always play him for that reason, but your heart's in your mouth whenever he has the ball at his feet.

Although it was Nelsons poor pass that led to their goal! Or Ledson's poor control. Nope! If you are going to play out from the back the pass needs to be closer to the player, Ledson had too stretch for it.

Ledson wasn't expecting it e.g. being reactive rather than proactive meaning he had to stretch, but the ball to him was initially a good one. On hindsight Nelson probably should have put his foot through it, especially as Eastwood had just made a good save and the ball was all over the place, but I can also understand why he tried to retain the ball.

No, but saw it this morning. I agree with what you are saying pretty much, it's div 1 so mistakes are made.

Every time the ball is at his feet The fact that he is right footed and has to play on the left of defence doesn't help. This means a lot of his passes have to be done with his weaker foot. I presume Appleton doesn't feel all the other centrebacks he has are capable of playing on the left. Quite a compliment to Dunkley.

I think he is 4th choice behind Raglan atm

I just perused the Scunthorpe forum and I'm surprised to see that not many of their fans are commending our style of play. Surely we are one of the better footballing teams to go there this season? Sometimes I feel that we don't get the respect we deserve from other fans for playing football the right way.

Something has worked in the last 3 games though as we seem to be a little more compact. Harder to beat. Whatever that is, Long may it continue.

They didn't seem to like the fact that they were up against a team, that could move the ball around as well as they reportedly could. Both teams had passes go astray. We have to know when to clear the ball from our penalty area and when it is safe to pass out from the back. If their goal was the winner yesterday it would have been a travesty, as we were playing the better football at that point. We gifted them the goal in some respects, something I'm sure Appleton will address.

Was chatting to a Scunthorpe fan in the MacD's outside the ground and he thought we played well, did say how close they came to a winner, but so did I about us. Bloody fog meant neither of us could see the other end properly at times.

As Charlie said on another thread, players are coming here and improving. Two years ago Dunks was playing conference football and when he came here, his team mates seemed avoid passing to him just because they were scared what he might do with the ball. Now they seem more confident and Dunks has more awareness of his own abilities so booting or heading out for a throw in rather than getting chased down with the ball at his feet. I reckon he has more goals in him , a bit like Mullins / Duberry in recent years.

I remember barely be able to sleep the night before it came out- shaking in bed like a child unable to temper his excitement on Christmas Eve. Then I would wake up and within a few seconds, I would realise that today was the day Duberry's column came out. I hastily threw on my dressing gown, not caring whether I had tied it properly- ran downstairs and outside to buy the Oxford Mail at the local shop. Before I had even paid for the paper, I laid it down on the shop floor, my fingers were hungrily turning the pages and then I got my heroin shot- 300 of Duberry's words- the finest journalism.

Their support, numbers wise, is and probably always has been very poor. Less than 4,000 home supporters for a team topping the table and almost a calendar year unbeaten at home is shocking.

But Accrington is half way between Preston and Blackburn so it is always going to be difficult to pick up local support. Similarly Morecambe and Fleetwood would take decades to attract significant fans from north west clubs. I don't even know where Scunthorpe is, just get on a train to Doncaster and change from there.

Apparently, Hull did a marketing campaign in Scunny last year and this year which hasn't helped. Scunny regularly get this sort of crowd, always have got similar crowds certainly after moving to Glanford Park.

The population of Scunthorpe is only 65000 so percentage wise you could argue they get better crowds than we do.
