I fancy us to win this one, 2-1 to us, McGuire and Robbie Hall getting the goals COYY'S.

Maguire more likely to score, in my opinion

I think we may scrape a win here for some reason but I would be quite happy with a point.
Score: 2-1 (Hemmings, MacDonald)
Attendance: 4367 (450 committed yellows)
Team: Eastwood Edwards, Nelson, Dunkley, Scarz MacDonald, Ledson, Lundstrum, Hall Maguire Hemmings
Subs: Buchel, Raglan, Ruffles, T. Roberts, Johnson, Rothwell, Taylor

Great to see so much optimism.
Scunthorpe have this season been by far tghe best team in the Division and 43 points in 19 games means that if they continue like this they will get over 100 points.
If we win some may start believing that this could be quite a good season for us ...

Vaguely remember going there at the back end of one season, think they were going up..... and there was lots of fun, frivolity & drink with the directors and some old boys who had been supporting them since lord knows when and were truly cherishing the success. Proper club, proper fans.
Hope we stuff `em.

Really nice idea having a Q&A with an opposition fan. Do they do that every week?

The sort of game we win at present! Looking ahead, 10th December we play lowly Oldham at home. Shall we put that one down for a home defeat?!
A bit of a free hit this one after two wins on the bounce. It should be Scunthorpe's match to win but I'd happily take a draw now.

It's the hope that gets you isn't it? After a couple of decent results, 1 comfortable win and 1 ground out win I am now expecting to get something tomorrow.
Obviously wish the injuries hadn't have happened but those along with a couple of players who seem to be out of the picture at the moment leads me to think we'll have a more settled team in the next few weeks and I think we'll benefit from that.

Good luck to all those hardy souls who will be travelling. I just hope the Oxford team that turns up is the one that is energetic, starts quickly and is solid at the back and not the one that I watched in the first half away at Coventry. A draw for me would be an excellent result, a clean sheet even better.

Subs: Buchel, Raglan, Ruffles, T. Roberts, Johnson, Rothwell, Taylor 11-1 at the Australian state bookmaker for 2-1 Oxford, an even more tempting 17-1 for a 2-0 win. Really fancy this! Just the sort of bizarre thing we'd do.

Assuming Skarz is fit then reckon he should start with Marvin in front of him. Makes us more solid defensively, and means Robbie Hall can have a breather or be used as an impact sub.

Recently got a feeling in me water (Must be the chilly weather) - We stun the home team by taking a well deserved 2-0 lead into half-time, they storm back with a goal inside 5 mins of the restart, then equalise through a hotly contested penalty- only for us to take the lead again almost from kick off...
After numerous 'close calls' and what seems an eternity for the Oxford boys, the ref blows the whistle to the relief and joy of the men in Yellow and their rapturous noisy following!!
Amen.

1-1 (Johnson). Scunny looks like a seriously decent team, incredible home record as well (nearly a whole calendar year unbeaten). As much as I fancy us being the ones to upset the odds and cause a shock, I think a draw will be a very good result. Fancy Johnson to score his 2nd goal of the season as well.
The team: Eastwood, Edwards, Nelson, Dunkley, Skarz, MacDonald, Ledson, Lundstram, Johnson, Maguire, Hemmings. Think Hall might need a rest, 3 games in 7 days might be a bit too much for him, hopefully he can be an impact sub, if needed.

Scunthorpe are on a good run and full of a growing confidence. But confidence grows into over-confidence and then the house comes tumbling down. Hope that day is tomorrow and the mighty Yellows grab a sneaky, nervous 1-0 win.

Well, this IS a hard one! (that's what Eve first said to Adam). Top of the table Scunny against unpredictable, but exciting Oxford United. My guess...Scunny 1 Oxford United 1 (Hemmings). Att: 4659 and 498 Yellows fans and one dog. The game will be a run-of-the-mill up and at 'em type of gladiatorial encounter, but its the off-field weirdness that's come to my attention. Skarz will enter the arena with a voodoo doll, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Chey Dunkley hanging around his neck. Every time Dunks goes near Joe during the game, he will flash the doll at him. An earthquake-like noise with a strength of 0.1 will happen in Scunthorpeshire at 3:56pm. Turns out, it will just be a hot dog stand exploding. Their scoreboard will stop working at 4:59pm, but that'll be because someone turned it off at the end of the game. Spooky, eh? Maguire will miss two penalties. Dunkley will head the ball with such ferocity, that it will burst. MacDonald, having eaten too much just lately, will look like he's ready to burst. M.A. will burst into song, singing 'The ills are alive, with the sound of U's sick (players)!' after Skarz, Ledson and Eastwood will pick up knocks. The dog, covered in mange and fleas, will run onto the pitch and start scratching itself furiously. Dunks will go to scupper it off with his foot, but miss - and accidentally kick Skarz in the bollocks. Ledson will fall over laughing and land awkwardly on his coccyx AND clavicle and have to go off for psychotherapy treatment. Eastwood's injury will be a mystery - so much so, that I can't tell you what it is. One of the floodlights will be painted pink, for some reason. The directors' box will explode, as will the home team's changing room. A smoke bomb will go off in their main end. Some twonk will bring a bloody drum into the ground. The ref will forget to bring his whistle and, because no-one thought to bring an emergency one, will be given a guitar to use every time a free-kick, goal-kick or offside is given. That just about sums it up for me.

Agree with that team, don't think Hall can do 3 games in a week just yet. Maybe Martin for Dunkley though.

Tempted to get the train across from the North west for this one. Why, I have no idea.
I'll go for a 1-1. And a very good 1-1 if we manage it.

The local game of the season for the Lincoln Yellows, 5 of us making the 25 mile journey up the A15 for the match, lets hope we get to see more of the game as i did on Tuesday when we made the trip to the Kassam when the fog worryingly came down just after half time, nethertheless a win was a win...... Any yellows expecting to come away with 3 points from North Lincolnshire must be on something you probably couldn't publish on the forum, any Yellows hoping we can win this game are probably more realistic, above all, on our day and with 6 or 7 of our players hitting top form then as we all know, we are more than capable of winning this game especially as our confidence should be on the up after two wins in 4 days last week. I expect Scunthorpe to have plenty of the ball with the Yellows breaking at speed on the counter attack, a skill that served us so well last year and with the pace of Hemmings, Johnson and Robbie Hall in the side coupled with Lundsram and Magure's accurate passing then maybe, just maybe, Scunthorpe's winning home form just could be in danger..... . The heart says......... Scunthorpe Utd - 2 OXFORD UNITED - 2 Att - 4498 (634 Yellows) . The head says........... Another poor away display, but we live in hope............ COME ON YOU YELLOWS........

I think we are in for a battle and one we would do really well to get a point from. I said before last Saturday that seven points by the end of the today would really turn our season round and we have a great chance to do that today. In truth even if we lost a close game our season seems to be back on track and players seem to be finding form but the extra confidence of a result away to the leaders would be the icing on the proverbial. So sense would dictate a hard fought 1-1 and smiles all round.
Given that sense was never my strong point and that I have predicted 3-0 for the last two games and we won both.......
3-0 Maguire, Hemmings and Johnson.
I can't make the game so sadly no lucky gloves to help us but Amersham Dave's dog will be the lucky charm on the day until Skartz, still woozy from close encounters of a Dunkley kind, volleys it into the stands just before half time.
There, I think that covers most eventualities.
