Silly booking for hemmings there. Some idiots behind me booing the ref. Clear foul for sure. Hmmmm. Booing because the ref hadn't shown any interest in booking anyone prior despite a clear shirt pull on Lunny? When we were away on the break. Anyway, it was for kicking the ball, not a foul.

When we were away on the break. Anyway, it was for kicking the ball, not a foul. Slight hypocrisy too as there was a clear case of a Gillingham player chucking the ball 20 yards in the wrong direction onto the pitch when we had a throw-in in the second half. If they had been winning, I'm certain he would have received a card for it.

Just glanced at the league table. We have beaten all four teams current occupying the play off places - and failed to beat the three teams in the bottom four we have played. Crazy season. Still, halfway to safety from 19 games.

The ref was in his own little world last night. There were a couple of tackles that I thought merited at least a talking to (if not a yellow) that he just ignored, he allowed the Gillingham players to yap at him all game (including when walking off at half time), blatant nudges in the back by both teams were just ignored and very similar offences seemed to get very different treatment.
But I don't think anything he did was blatantly, game-changingly wrong, he allowed the game to flow pretty well and didn't call it off when the fog came down! Not the worst ref we have had by a long chalk.

Free kick was for the push, then, after the whistle, Hemmings had an attempt to lob the keeper which the ref ignored. Then about 4 Gills player moaned at the ref as if Hemmings had kicked the keeper or taken a dump on the trainer, for ages: wankers.

Good win, the fog became a bit of a joke for us fans come the end.
Why was the barrier still up behind the north stand by the way?

Very good result against a decent Gillingham side. Lots of positives to be taken from this match: goal for Johnson, will hopefully continue to boost his confidence. Another decent performance from Hemmings, lots of nice link-up play. Dunks and Nelson look like a good solid CB pair (hoping Chey's injury worry is nothing too serious). A clean sheet should give the whole defence a confidence boost.
Back to back wins, and we are moving up the table. Takes a bit of pressure of the tricky away game at the weekend against Scunny, but hopefully we can go there and continue this nice little run of form.

Important win last night, and was vital we followed the Coventry game with another three points. We have a tough game this weekend against the leaders, but on our day we are a match for anyone. There's reason to be slightly optimistic, because we tend to do better against the teams going well. I would take a draw personally.

Surprised the foul was given where Hemings was booked looked like a shoulder barge which I thought was allowed if the player was on the ball boking was for kicking the ball awa, how their player wasn't booked for the drag back on our player in the 1st half I will never know. 1st half a good performance 2nd half not so bit a clean sheet and 3 points plus 5 ahead of the scum

Gritty performance, we dug it out. Gillingham not bad, Emmanuel-Thomas a monster.
Is it fair to say that Maguire is Matt Le Tiss light? I swear I saw some supporters paying homage when he was taking corners in the second half.
What a well worked goal as well, we somehow have to work out how to start Johnson and Hall together, one thing is for sure Johnson is no left back at this level. He looks ropey when run at. But a talent.
Hats off to Macca as well, very energetic - and skilful to boot.
And also Nelson - settling in well, looking fit and composed. He brings the ball out from the back well and dare I say it - there is a touch of the Matt Elliot's to him.
I've consistently said we have a talented squad - I still see us pushing for playoffs after Christmas.
Once again the difference between L1 and L2 was startling, Every home game this season has been value for money - yes even the defeats.

Gillingham looked a decent team and can count themselves a little unlucky to not get a point. Cody McDonald and Emmanuel-Thomas will cause teams a lot of problems this season.
For those closer to me, should they have had a penalty in the first half?
The Division is generally very even. We are ahead of Gillingham but they looked better than a few sides higher in the table to me.
A very gritty win- the last 2 games have been just what we needed. MAPP now has plenty of options wide with Hall looking very good and Johnson looking more of what we hoped to get when buying him (and McDonald looks his old self adding a lot of balance to the team). The only worry is if Hemmings was injured. Could Hall play that position?
Scunny have had a fantastic run (43 points in 19 games is a great points total at this stage of the season), but I reckon if we turn up we could give them quite a game- they are due to lose one.
Oh and for those worried that we were in a relegation battle if 50 points will be enough, then 25 point in 27 games required now (8 wins and a draw)?

A bit odd that they don't show the incident when Gillingham hit the bar and then Nelson headed away the followup, since that was probably the closest they came.

Scunny haven't lost at home in the league since December 19th 2015..pessimistic is an understatement I'm quite the opposite. This is, in a sense, a 'no-pressure' match. We're not expected to get anything. Scunthorpe will lose sometime and there's no reason why it shouldn't be to us. We're getting a bit more solid at the back (hope Dunks & Nelson play), the midfield is looking less flimsy and finally, up front the players have got a sense of what Hemmings is about and are starting to play to his strengths. I think there's more to come up from - Maguire was a bit greedy sometimes in the second half, and Hemmings was a bit slow sometimes to get where Maguire needed him for the pass. We looked pacy and dangerous on the break, sometimes. We can beat Scu nthorpe.

I think their formation didn't help them a lot. Dack looked particularly uninterested on the wing and was not bothered about defending which cost them a lot in the first half. By the end they had 4 strikers on the pitch and didn't look all that threatening.
We have a long way to go as a team but the last 2 games should a massive step forward. Ledson wasn't as good as Saturday but clearly Lunny is comfortable playing with him, so it can only get better for both. Nelson is getting match fit and looks to be a player to improve the team. Hemmings is another who seems match fit and confident and what a difference it makes.

I was close and thought it was a clear Gills pen! That would only have evened out the obvious penalty for a foul on Dunks.
