Cant make it today but I remember last time I went we won 2-1 so I hope for a similar result today, although our record away to vale isn't good. Would like to see Marvin get a start today as I think he will come good eventually and let's hope its today COYY

This isn't must win but it is need to win. We need a comfortable win to reassure people (mainly me) that we have the quality to compete at this level. A loss will make people lose their minds and condemn us to relegation and call for MApp's head! 2-0 to us. Hemings (I hope) and Maguire. Port Vale have the best home record in the Division and are Top 6. A draw would be a very good result.

If it ends in a draw that's fair enough especially away from home but I personally would want to see a win every game (as unlikely as that is). We need a positive result to instil a bit of confidence in the players if nothing else.

Port Vale 2 Oxford United 0 (Sorry) Att: 4999 with 545 Yellows fans. I can see a pretty poor performance today (you don't need a crystal ball, I'm afraid). Oh............a bloody great big dog will run onto the pitch.

Surely Crowley is too weak for a lone St those Cb will Have a field day against him. Raglan dropped for Nelson.

Afternoon folks. As promised I have made a poll in a new thread about other L1 score in this match day thread. Go and vote, it's to be found in the Matches section.
Today is not going to be easy but my half-full glass says that we will get at least 1 point, and if the right team turns up then maybe even 3. Score? No idea, so no forecast.
COME ON YOU YELLOWS

Mind you their top two strikers are out. Local radio just said the Oxford commentators are turning cartwheels about that news!

Weird formation. As many have said what the hell is Crowley doing up front, and Sercombe right mid? Oh well hope it works!

Interesting team news. Clearly MAPP has had enough and got the team changed. I like Nelson coming in, just a bit of leadership in the middle that we've lacked. I'll be interested to see how Crowley gets on up top on his own.

The boy has gone today, nicked my sat nav to find the place as neither of us knew where it was. He is getting right into the travelling away thing like I did as a much younger person. Once took my wife to Brentford, 1980 I think it was, for her first and only away match. Brentford scored in the first half then of course they turned around for the second half and scored again in the other goal. The wife cheered because she thought we had scored !!!!!! She is my ex-wife now..............

Maybe Johnson or Maguire upfront? Would make more sense, Raglan is unlucky but good decision long term you'd think

Afternoon all. Five changes for us and their main strikers out so not sure about this one. New boys out to impress the boss, and the fans, could mean a win for us or maybe a draw, who knows.

If Crowley really is up front, I hope we don't play the bloody long ball game again. How tall is he?

Didn't expect that team! Doubt anyone can play the lone striker role. I reckon we'll pack the midfield and place with energy on the break.
