It really deserves its own thread. Try to say why as well. For me controversially it has to be cart horse Matt Murphy, for the amount of byes he would gift the opposition with something.

I seem to remember a bloke called Andrade who played one or two games in pre-sesason under Patterson. He was worse than me, and I was about 50 then.
For competitive games it's hard to choose between Alex Jeannin and Matt Day, although Phil Trainer took the worst free kick I ever saw and Andy Burgess was the biggest pussy ever to don the OUFC shirt.

"Jeannin began his career at local club Troyes, where he mainly played for the reserves in the fifth tier of French football."

Harsh on Matt day! I remember him scoring a screamer at Crawley away! I mentioned it on another thread but emiliano Diaz by a country mile for me! There's been some pretty bad ones though - trainer and Marvin Robinson have to be up there - Steve anthrobus was pretty poor too! Another conversation but worst individual performance for me is probably dunkleys last year against Exeter at home!

Jarman and McGukin, the worst central defensive partnership in history.

Diaz, has to go down as the worst surely. He only got in the pitch because his dad was the manager.... there was no other reason. Anthrobus is a legend in his own car park allegedly, Fear struck nothing of the sort into opposition players, Trainer was more of a plimsoles and "No Hair" (I'm not even going to attempt to spell his name had No clue

I think Matt Murphy suffers from comparison with the players that came before. But when compare him with some of the rubbish we had in the conference it can't be a player who scored 55 goals from midfield in league 1 & the Championship. I would nominate Phil Whelan or Christian Grebbis!!

Emiliano Diaz for sure. He just simply wasn't a footballer. You could just as easily go into the crowd, pick someone at random and they'd have a high chance of being better than him. I honestly can't see a player ever turning out for us again who is as bad as that.

I'd put Lewis Guy (on loan from MK Dons) in the mix... not the worst movement but should have tucked away quite a few tap-ins, that were really put on a plate for him... including one against the scum.
Where would people put Philliskirk?

I couldn't nominate Matt Murphy who scored 23 in a season for worst player award Has to be Anthrobus, the worst return rate....his manager was awful for keeping selecting him

Do you even go to games? Matt Murphy was a legend compared to dozens of misfits we've had during the last 20 years.

I was never very impressed by Garry Smart! He somehow played about 200 times for us in Division 2 in the early 90s and I was convinced that he must be the worst full back in all 4 leagues every time I saw him.

Salmon in goal McGuckin and Jarman at the back Peter Fear and Phil Trainer in midfield Kevin Francis and Steve Antrobus up front That has to be the basis of our worst team ever

You lot obviously never saw the likes of Adrian O'Dowd, Terry Donovan, etc
McGuckin, Fear, Jarman, that lot were awful as were Anthrobus....
No way should Murphy be on a worst player list.

What about Carlisle, or places like Fleetwood/Accrington midweek over the years. The thread is all about opinion! I see you haven't nominated anyone, ever been to a game at all?

Matt Murphy scored a lot of goals in the championship, not really a bad player at all. Had some truly shocking ones and hundreds of bang average as well.

I'd probably go for Phil Whelan.
Probably nowhere near our worst player but context was very bad for him. Coming in after Elliot, costing a lot of money and playing in the second tier.
But he just seemed so slow to be useless.

Ray Gaston was dire as many of the senior (agewise) members will concur. Peter Fear was a more recent atrocity that has played for us

How dare you say such things, he was a great defender and had to put up with Steve Foster blaming him for everything even when it was mostly Fosters fault

I would imagine about 25% of Jim Smith's signings in his second spell could be up for this award.
