A top game played by two teams who played football, felt Chris Maguire his goal was a well worked goal pass from Johnson to Hemmings to Maguire and he won't miss.

disappointed with league position but if you said 5 years ago that we'd be playing Bolton, Charlton and Sheffield United in league matches I wouldn't have believed you. Good effort by the sounds of it, time to start raking in some points after the Bolton game. 13th isn't to bad bash, think we will improve but if at the end of the season we are 13th I will be happy then MAPP will be ready for a better season mext season

Maguire is quite simply the first name on the team sheet. Along with Eastwood, but yes. I think our position at the end of the season is going to depend a lot on how fit he is.

Really enjoyed today proper game of football played in the right manner by two good teams. In the last two weeks we have played two teams that last season were in the championship and we have more than matched them. We have come a long way in the last couple of years and the future looks good

What a save from Eastwood in the 2nd half, point blank header and he gets it onto the bar. Brilliant.
I'd have been disappointed with a nil nil but to go behind and then get a very well worked leveller, well I'm happy with that in the end.
Linesman on the left ( SS) was awful and the ref seemed to miss loads as well.
God knows what the assessors say to these officials but they should be honest and tell them when they miss things.
I think that will prove to be a good point in the end.

I thought it was a very very good game. There were some brilliant passes especially second half. Marvin Johnson looks excellent and Hemmings pass for Maguire was inch perfect. It was my first game and what a difference to last season. Less wasted balls. Always liked Dunkley who again had a good game. Eastwood is a much better keeper than either Buchel or Slocombe last season. As for Maguire, class all the way. On five goals already...as someone on the radio said earlier extend his contract. Don't seem to be missing Roofe or O'Dowda ATM. Our new players all look good for this league. Enjoying my football more than I have for years

Defo foul on Edwards. Player reaction said it all. Novak's challenge was a disgrace. He 'did' Skarz and it should have been red. Ref seemed to get worse the longer the game went on .
Sercs had a shocker in the first half along with Taylor but was outstanding in the second. Fitness levels were superb and he really drove us on towards the end.
Disappointed in Johnson if I'm honest. Didn't look anywhere as fit as other players but you need to give him time to build that up.
Look out on the highlights for Eastwood's second half save. One of the bet I've seen for a longtime. He's superb.

Ummmmmmmmm......... I thought the majority of the game was really BORING, lots of passing and pissing around but no end product!!. Would you really want to watch THAT every week?? I would like to see some more forward passes, especially from Lundstram. I'd also like to see more than one player ahead of the ball and for Johnson to run at his man more. All that happened once today and we scored. Good stuff being served up at the moment but there is room for improvement, especially going forward.

Really enjoyed the game today, defence looked pretty comfortable again. The only disappointment for me at the moment is Johnson who just does not seem to have the confidence to run with the ball and take on the fullback. Holmes came on and did more in his first ten minutes than Johnson dared for the whole game. Did we sign a fast winger or not?. Maybe he is just not fit enough for EFL division one, either that or he needs a couple of goals to get him going. Apart from this every man did his job today. Eastwood is saving us week in week out, I'd hate to think where we would be in the league with last years keepers.

I thought Marvin Johnson was a little off the pace today, he is supposed to be a quick winger but I don't remember him actually taking anybody on? Perhaps I might be wrong but that's what I saw. Hemings did very well coming on, Maguire is class, the defence looks reliable and as for Eastwood he has to be the signing of the season already, possible the decade. Deffo foul for there pen, the ref got worse as the day went on.
If asked would I have taken this position at the start of the season right now then yes, we have shown we can compete with the best, onwards and upwards.

A good point V an ex Championship team. I really want to see the penalty again to see if he had to try and head the ball. Can't remember

Yes I was baffled by that comment. Today was a reminder of why it's better for Oxford to be in a higher league. Not just for the pride of the club but because you actually get to see good football from both sides. A very entertaining 90 minutes from both teams.

Highlights are on sky sports website. Nowhere near enough contact on Edwards for a foul and he should have never had his hands in the air like that. A poor penalty to give away. Johnson was also rubbish today. Had no intention of taking anybody on and if you'd never seen him play before you'd never know he's meant to have pace. Show willingness at least, even if things don't come off. He needs to start having a go at players.
Besides that, loads of positives. Definitely matched a team who were two divisions above us last year (for the second week running) and with better finishing and more oomph in the shots could definitely have been up at half time. To claw back the goal quite quickly was great to see and Hemmings definitely made an impact. He seemed to enjoy being put into the channels and I think if he plays like that regularly he'll be the most effective of the three strikers.
Also, great to keep the unbeaten home record going. Now to get another point or three at Southend on Tuesday.

Thought a draw was a fair result, would have taken that before and during the game.
Eastwood outstanding yet again. Normally a fan of Taylor but thought he was very poor today. Thought Marvin Johnson was poor too, didn't take his man on once and kept giving the ball away. Looked much better as a team when Hemmings came on, best I've seen him play, seemed really up for it. Rothwell excellent again. Couldn't really see the penalty or the incident on Skarz. Brilliant team goal. Lot's of positives again.
The officials weren't great. Oxford fans were good. And Charlton had a big mob out today didn't they??

Three would be nice against yet another bogey side. To draw on Tuesday would give us three from nine...not that great. Surely we are due to beat those shrimpers some time

The change of system from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2 really helped. Otherwise we would have lost.

Glad it's not just me disappointed in Johnson, perhaps he just needs time to settle. Perhaps the fitness levels needed to be in League One aren't there yet.
I hope that's the case and not that the Scottish league has made him look good

Enjoyed the game - big step up in class from League Two but we deserved a point.
Thought Charlton were the best team so far to visit Grenoble Road. Well organized at the back, passed well through the thirds and always looked a threat.
Eastwood's fingertip save from Magennis was a stunner. Maguire the U's pick despite the sponsors giving the award to Serc's which I did not understand. Sercs struggling to get into the game at present. Hemmings look fitter and sharper than earlier in the season.
Too many empty seats for me and those that chose to watch Sky Soccer Saturday missed a good game.
If we can win at Roots Hall then the last two points will prove to be very decent.

Surely we are due to beat those shrimpers some time Of course, and with them off to a stinker I'd like to think we can have a a good go, but in terms of 'blocks of five' a draw would at least give us nine from the second block compared to the four from the first. A marked improvement at the very least, although it would absolutely be great to not have to go into October waiting for that first away win.

I was pretty close to the Skarz incident. It was a deliberate elbow right in his face. A very nasty and cowardly attack. How the referee and linesman both missed it is hard to believe. He should get a lengthy ban for that if there is any justice.

We were in control for the first 20 mins, with Charlton sitting deep. It was then we should have punished them, as the game only ever looked a 0 0 after that. Even if a player is fouled, arms should never be up in the air, it looked like something out of a western cowboy film. Hemmings was a different player than before, fitter, although Marvellous is either injured, or didn't put a shift in today.
The least said about Taylor the better. He constantly gave the ball away, as he simply couldn't control it, culminating in him tripping over his own feet. 442 was the system that made the difference, and maybe could have been implemented at half time. Never the less, we played well, and the squad will be the difference between challenging for promotion, which if we resolve the goals issue, is a real possibility, and a mid table finish.

When did we go 442? I though Maguire just moved into the no 10 role in the 4231

Really entertaining afternoon. I thought we played at a good pace for much of the game and our passing was generally excellent. Hemmings changed the game. It's time to drop Taylor, he just isn't capable in the role of lone striker. He offers no threat in front of goal. Give Hemmings a chance to shine against Southend.
Johnson will come good, there were many promising glimpses from him today, he just needs a goal to settle him. Maguire was excellent and just keeps getting better, as does Rothwell, although he wasn't as prevalent in the second half.
