For a side we traditionally do poorly against I'll take a point.
Onwards and upwards.

disappointed with league position but if you said 5 years ago that we'd be playing Bolton, Charlton and Sheffield United in league matches I wouldn't have believed you. Good effort by the sounds of it, time to start raking in some points after the Bolton game.

By the sounds of it, great effort by the lads against a good team, think Charlton will be right up there at the end of the season and so will we. On to Southend!

Good point. What was the red card for? According to Jerome or Nathan, for his 4th bookable offense. A heavy foul on Sercombe, if I remember right.

Enjoyed that. Back five looking solid. Don't quite know what Edwards was thinking but apart from that some great bodies on the line defending. Rothwell and lunny picking some nice passes, love that rothwell just gets it down and goes with it. Not surprising the goal came from a great move on the deck, up until that we had been putting way to much high against there two big centre halves who were dealing with it easily. The quality we have on the floor we don't need to keep hitting it high, and Hemmings showed what he's about with the ball on the floor, him with Maguire just behind Johnson and hall either side could be frightening

4games 1 goal conceded and that was a pen that was nothing to do with him. Ok he reads a few things wrong, but more than makes up for that in other areas, including very nearly getting another goal

I thought Edwards got a massive shove in the back before the handball. It was one of many from Charlton that the Ref missed. Felt sorry for Skarz, Novak threw the elbow out and clonked him one. It was a free kick and a booking, but like most things, Stroud was looking the other way apart from the sending off. Edwards kept getting tackled off the ball but nothing was given. The SS Lino was appalling all game. I can only think he had a sight impediment because he missed so much for both sides. Having no one there would have been better.
We did well. We were not overawed or under the kosh much and kept creating chances. Maguire looks such a good player playing the 10 role that it makes me wonder why we don't play him there more often. Sercombe is trying hard but Maguire looks a natural there. Taylor gets criticised, and while he could be stronger, it's a hard role to play.
I feel sorry for Charlton for having Russell Slade as their manager. A poor man's Tony Pulis!! Magennis is a donkey who should be on Blackpool beach not a footballer.

Looked like a possible broken nose to me. There should be a retrospective red card to their player (Novak?) who led with his elbow to cause the injury.

I thought their player probably deserved a booking for the challenge on Eastwood as well, Definitely caught him not really any different to the macca one last week

Decent point, Hemmings made a difference when he came on and gave us the option of the through ball, did enough to get the nod on Tuesday for me.

Do you know what breed of police dog it was? It had lots of teeth, four legs and a fluffy tail and went f*cking 'woof!'. Apart from that,I couldn't quite see the breed. If its teeth were near my arse, I wouldn't stop to ask.

A good, yet unspectacular game. It was similar to last week in that I felt both teams cancelled each other out for the majority of the ninety. That said, I think we were the better team in the first half. We moved the ball about better than them, and most of their threat came from breaking quickly. Their number seven looked dangerous on occasion too. But the best chance of the half fell to Dunkley. Not sure if it was a good save or if it was headed straight at him, but either way it probably should've resulted in a goal.
The penalty looked like a foul on Edwards to me. It was disappointing to go behind, but I thought the goal actually injected a bit of much needed life into the game. The players reacted well, and broke excellently for the goal. At that point it looked like we might go on to score another, but in actual fact the best chance fell to Charlton. But for another incredible stop from Eastwood it would've been 2-1. He really has been a revelation this season. How many points do we owe to him already?
Again Taylor seems to be splitting opinion. Appleton's explanation of why he started him made sense. Taylor does have a lot of good qualities but he is just so unthreatening from a goalscoring perspective. Hemmings hasn't exactly set the world alight so far but he looked much improved when he came on, and the team as a whole looked so much more dangerous. I imagine he'll start on Tuesday.
Stand out performers for me were Rothwell, Eastwood, and Maguire. Rothwell has so much drive and energy, but also has the quality to match. Maguire is quite simply the first name on the team sheet. Looking forward to when Hall returns so we can see Maguire play more central.
Lundstram was disappointing again imo. Some of his passing was very good, but he really looked slow and lacking in energy. He's too easy to defend against at the moment. Johnson was also not as good as we've already seen he can be. He doesn't seem comfortable when switched to the right. He also seems to be struggling to get past his man. Hopefully it's just all part of settling in.
All in all, a good point. Hopefully we'll back it up with a win on Tuesday, as we obviously have another tough fixture next week at Bolton.
