Is it still open?
At the end of last season the rumour was that the tenants were moving out. If anybody knows it would be appreciated.

From what I am told, the owner of the Catherine Wheel is Barry King and is someone who has been in the trade for many years. As BK was not getting any older he decided to let the Catherine Wheel be leased by Billy Fox (previously landlord the Golden Ball at Littlemore) and an agreement between BK & BF was drawn up and apparently signed by both parties BUT not exchanged. BF then proceeded to do the pub up and items such as rewiring, replaing beer pipes, redecorating internally and externally, replacing the pub sign (which I am told was a danger and could have toppled over at anytime) and generally did things to the pub that BK couldn't be bothered to do. Almost overnight the pub, once again, became a success, the takings soared and after watching his pub become succesful again BK decided that he wanted more money. BF didn't want to pay more and decided to terminate the agreement that had been signed but not exchanged. Alledgedly, a lot of locals who returned to the pub once BK had left, have vowed not to go back into the pub as they take the view that BF had been badly treated. BK not getting any older? You wouldn't know it to look at him!

Hello everyone. My name is Paul Carney. My son Joshua and I have taken over the tenancy at the Catherine Wheel in Sandford. We are up and running as normal and more information about us can be found on our Facebook page. www.facebook.com/pages/The-Catherine-Wheel-Sandford/1392846664369824All fans, home and away will be more than welcome. We do not currently have a minibus but we will be offering lifts to the ground for people that struggle to walk the distance. We will be doing bar food snacks on the day such as burgers, sausage, bacon baps, chips, pies etc. We want to be a family friendly place that the fans can relax before the game and celebrate or cry into their beer after. We hope to see you on the 8th August. Thank you.

Paul, I take it you are not a U's fan then?
Be good to see a pub have a few OUFC things on the wall to make it feel like a U's pub if you know what I mean
Away fans would understand as most places you go that have,a pub near the ground have stuff up in support of their local team

I would be happy to have some footy pics, memorabilia etc in the pub. Does anyone have some they could give or lend or tell me where I can get hold of some. Where did all the bits go when the Priory shut ? Thanks.

I have a signed shirt that I would quite happily donate to the pub. The only thing is, it isn't in a frame but in the past I have bought frames for 50 quid and framed it myself.

popped into the catherinewheel last night...theryre 100% about being a pub where home fans feel at home ( and selected away fans are welcome) ...new licenees are good people and well up for making pre and post match special, and part of the day out at footy ...and are looking at different ways to make the catherinewheel(oufc) fan friendly. Any ideas to enhance the idea let them know,
