It looks very much like they're going. The move to Oxford has proved to be a disaster!

Could be massive news. A beautiful flat pitch all season would make such a difference.
It's not been a great relationship from day 1.

We’ve had a few of these heart stopping moments before. Remember their flowery press releases on moving into Witney Town’s old ground and turning that into an top flight standard rugby stadium? That came to nothing very quickly so I’ll believe it when I see it if they really are packing up and moving on. I still think we’ll be laboured with our irritating co-tenant in our rubbish ground for 2015-16.
The Oxford experiment has been a failure for LW. Unspectacular crowds show that there just isn’t an appetite for professional rugby in the city and the team’s woeful performance for the 2014-15 season shows how under prepared they were for the PL. Removing the Oxford yellow tinted glasses, I can’t really see any benefits for LW staying here anyway. Surely playing in front of a decent crowd in a small-but-compact stadium in the Championship and turning down promotion should they win it next season whilst looking for somewhere better suited to them would be far better for them in the long run.

They never had any intention of going to Witney. That was simply done to apply some pressure to FK to get a better rent deal with him.

They never had any intention of going to Witney. That was simply done to apply some pressure to FK to get a better rent deal with him. And to be fair to them, they played an absolute blinder. The small investments and 'planning meetings' with the local councillors certainly was strategically done. I wouldn't be impressed if I were on the Witney local council. I guess we can all presume and I hope OxVox can find out because it'd be nice to know, are they departing without handing over any cash for the pitch maintenance? Will they come running back in 12/24 months time? Personally I doubt it because no doubt they will get into bed with Brentford. Not being a member of the OxVox Committee anymore, I can comfortably say 'Good Chuffin Riddance' and all that sails in her.

It really is a measure of how disliked LW are, when you read comments, tweets etc from normally impartial folks who are really unhappy with them. LW have made very few friends during their time here.

They were never going to be able to turn a football stadium in Witney into a rugby venue. It's a well know fact that they have been shit at conversions all season

There are some positives though Their behaviour in December 2012 enabled OxVox to get into action and to raise the Right To Bid application and for all those clowns mocking it's usefulness and effectiveness, it enabled OxVox over the following 18 months to strike a decent dialogue with Firoz and other interested parties which has benefited the club to this very day. More importantly, it prevented the stadium being sold to a Rugby club

Assuming there is some substance to this heart warming story, would'nt they be contractually obliged to stay until the 2016 season? Or at least pay Firoka a shed load of compensation if they quit now. It would be wonderful if they did sod off, I'd even help them pack, but somehow I don't think it will be that simple. Or quick.

They are paying nowhere near what we do. Maybe 200/300k a year they have 2 years left. I'm sure fk would except a years rent up front for them to cancel.

Not that informative in this case - they don't know much more than we do. Fingers crossed though - and they can take that branding off the stadium with them.

I wouldn't mind taking down all the unwanted signage on the stadium, I would do it at my expense as well, be nice just to see Oxford United signs from any view of the ground.

LW's Oxford based CEO Mike Stevens has left the club with immediate effect, no reason was given, and they refused to comment on where they will be playing next season!!

They really are a class act, not bothering to let their 'fans' know where they're going to be playing next season in reasonable time. Perhaps they'll wait until the evening of their first game.

BBC Radio Oxford reporting they are seriously thinking of leaving the kassam! So they're just trying to use a tactic to get the rent reduced again then?

BBC Radio Oxford reporting they are seriously thinking of leaving the kassam! So they're just trying to use a tactic to get the rent reduced again then? The longer it goes on, the more I think this is the case and it's just a repeat of their smoke and mirrors. Funny that BBC Oxford reported this morning that a longer term option for them in London might be Millwall's new ground. Is it time we got a restraining order against Millwall - they've become obsessed!

I'm sure the stadium company won't agree to it again. Hopefully last year was a wake up call that even when back in the prem they are not able to compete with the big boys(well any boys) and the crowds just ain't there for rugby in oxford.

Moving to play at Brentford?
According to Wikipedia (!!!) they looked at going there before deciding to move to the Kassam. also...the details for the new stadium they are moving into in a year or two also says London Welsh will be tenants.
Maybe they are moving there earlier than expected?
