Have we given up on the supporters bar? After all the rubbish about choosing a name it has just got worse and worse. We don't even bother putting the oufc photos up anymore. It's a sad and depressing place and a massive failure of the yellow army/ OxVox

I spend half an hour in there before games usually and have a quick drink. It's fine by me.

Things take time, especially when we don't own the ground. I imagine things are being worked on and we'll see an improvement over the course of the season.

If you deem it a failure it's surely just as much a failure if the clubs as that of those volunteer supporters groups. It's not exactly a great space to work with is it. I'm not sure what more can be done with it.

Try manor bar branding, put up the oufc photos and a sound system that works. Same as has been talked about for months.

Hopefully from the Wycombe game things will be better. What? Real ciders and ales at sensible prices? I'm guessing that an equestrian display by Lord Lucan, riding Shergar is more likely.

More seating would help

Was in the manor bar for a good while on Saturday, anyone know who the singing group were?
And I'll say again, there's not enough seating, maybe getting rid of the large round tables and using smaller tables would free up room for more seats.

best use is not being made of available space. The lack of sufficient tables and chairs is making it less like a bar and more like a garden party without the garden. Felt sorry for the group on Saturday the acoustics are just awful, but they were quite good. At least I think they were...

The owners could do worse than trying to buy the Priory. I really believe it would put something on the gate, and would be a real sign of trying to get the crowd back on side. Wouldn't need to do it up or anything, just need stock and staff, and would attract more people than the Manor bar surely?

I spent more time there than in the ground.

Plus Firoka own the lease on it.

I am sure that the owners are reviewing possibilities but also assume that it isn't a simple one. So........ Owned by Kassam Would almost certainly lose money (Tim did a great job but couldn't make it economically viable) I believe that the planning permission for the marquee had expired so that may not be possible. My understanding is that Kassam is going to use the Priory as part of the new hotel? So based on all of that, I can't really see what the new owners can do re the Priory.

It has been a real disappointment. Given the potential custom (hundreds of supporters) why is so little effort made to make it hospitable? Why does it never feel like OUR bar? Why is it we have to sit on the floor if we want to sit down? Why are there STILL no decent beers on tap? And why is the bottled bitter still chilled? Why is the "queueing" system so absolutely pathetic? Why do the bar staff know so little about ... anything? Why do three big tables have to take up half the space? Why can't I even find a surface to put my pint down? Why can't I hear what Rosie or his guest are saying? Very simple requests, but it seems the management is completely incompetent. As a season ticket holder, and a supporter of almost 50 years, I feel I and my fellow supporters deserve better.

Last time I was there I asked for a bottle of Doom Bar (which I see has replaced Pride). The lady serving promptly apologised for the price (£4.80 I think it was) and suggested I buy something else. Why bother filling the fridge with something that you over price and actively discourage people to buy?
The biggest single change that would encourage me back in would be real ale at sensible prices. I can get over the lack of seating, the poor PA, the florescent lighting and all the rest if I know I am going to get a decent pint (and without waiting 15 mins!).
Do the people running the bar not realise that quicker service of products that people want means more money entering the till?

I might sneak in some bottles of decent ales and sell them on the sly. It'll be the black market of the Manor Bar!
Has anyone ever wondered why the tables in there are so abnormally large? They only need tables big enough to stick a few pints on. Surely this would increase the capacity and allow for more tables to put your drink on.

As with everything which OGB has dealings in with Oxford UTD it is a compromise. The tables will be banqueting tables used for conference dinners etc. Don't expect him to pay anything.

Big tables OUT! Not coming to another game until they're gone! They should be replaced by snooker tables... with pole dancers on top... and kasabian peforming on stage.

I know the feeling from OU supporters about LW supporters but have you ever tried to find out why/how LW managed to get a real ale bar and all the other stuff outside that they have? The last Thursday night game LW played they were told the supporters would have to pay £6.30 a pint for lager, but after much haggling LW bought and transported it from ODP to keep the cost down. I know they havent been mentioned on this thread but has anyone tried listening/ talking to them and ask why/how they manage to get what they do at the Kassam.

Perhaps your colleagues may offer this service, at a cost, to Oxford United and try so that both LW and OUFC fans start seeing some benefit from this arrangement, for the BENEFIT of those going to watch. I'd love to see everyone really working together instead of people waiting for others to approach one another. Blimey, even the LW and OxVox are in talks together about getting together to find some mutual ground to improve the experience for all.

It's different rules for rugby, like you can drink watching the games. The cup game was sponsored by Heineken, so Heineken had to be on sale. it costs more to buy in, so you sell it for more. Where did you get £6.30 from?

The 2 CEO's are talking which is something that hasnt happened for the last couple of years. The £6.30 a pint was the price the LW management told us, I dont drink lager but think it was because it isnt the normal lager that is on sale. Rugby fans find it strange on 2 counts. Frstly that you cant take beer from outside into the stadium and secondly the Kassam is one if not the only stadium where you cant leave to go outside for a cig.
