Just mentioned it on another thread but I thought if as many fans as poss donated a tenner each for some yellow paint we could soon cover the drab walls with a bit of colour! didn't we win the paint pot challenge thing? If we did, and we had the most points last time i checked, then johnstones paint should have given us £2000 worth of paint in a colour of uniteds choice!

As we don't own the stadium I don't think K*ssam would take to kindly to us painting the stadium Yellow and Blue.

When we played the scum at home in the JPT the whole of the North and East stand was stood for the whole game..
so to the people who dont normally stand what made you decide to stand at that game? It would be good if everyone stood in the East Stand every game.

It's good to read some ideas and that people do care about the atmosphere and that going to watch Oxford can be a better all round experience.
It's never going to be easy, but there are fans who really care about trying to make things better. If you are passionate about wanting a better atmosphere and match day experience for yourself and all our fans, then pm me, or post something on here and I will contact you. It would be good to have more fans onboard. We have fans with a number of skills and talents, and if we put that all together, then I'm sure we can make a difference.
To those I've spoken to already, I've had a busy week, but will be back home tomorrow night, so will reply to emails and messages then.
Any further ideas are welcome, and we will see if it's possible to make those ideas happen.

Anything planned that you need my help with? Be in touch mate I will email you tomorrow night with some of the ideas and views of other fans. Clearly we need to take a new direction, so that's what is being discussed at the moment.

I'd like to hear what -if any, measures are being taken by the Club to improve the MDE, I, and I suspect many others would have supplied the Club with suggestions of what and how the atmosphere could be enhanced, in their survey. Great to hear the supporters are trying to improve things though.

Great to hear the supporters are trying to improve things though. This is something we will try and find out. The aim will be for supporters to work with the club to achieve what we both want. At the moment, I haven't heard what the club have planned. I think it's important to work together as supporters to try and improve things. We are the ones who spend the money and sit in the stands, and we are important. The club have recognised that fans think the atomsphere and match day experience are important. So lets hope that together, we can make things better. From talking to fans over the last few weeks, it's clear we have some good, passionate people wanting to be involved in improving things. So any thoughts and ideas, no matter how big or small, will be looked at and we will try to make things happen. So here is the place to post things (or pm me) Mcf86. Pm me your email address and I can talk to you more about things. L&P, good man.

Although I won't be able to help as I'm up north most of the time, it'd be good to hear what the frontrunning ideas are (especially considering we all have links and contacts that might make some ideas that seem difficult a lot simpler)

There has been a really good response to this, and I appreciate those who have been in touch.
I know this is going to take up a fair bit of my time in the coming weeks, so I've made sure I have given plenty of time to my son. Which is why I haven't got back to people yet. I promise that I will do it this week, and we can see what we can do.
Some of the ideas and enthusiasm from fans has been great. I have received a number of pm's on here. If you have ideas, or you just have passion for a better atmosphere, then feel free to pm.

We are still here. Admittedly we have been quiet at games for a year or two now, but this is due to our numbers being so small. There was originally only a core 7-8 of us, and 2 of those have now moved away to uni, one is away at college in Gloucestershire Monday - Friday, one now works most Saturdays, and I have been in the last year of A-levels. This has meant two things; a) We have been much less noticeable at games b) We haven't been able to commit the same amount of time that we used to be able to to the making of stuff for displays.
Another factor to not pulling off a tifo (display) so often is the cost. The price of getting to away games has risen drastically as train prices have increased. This extra few pounds every week would have been able to fund say, a message banner, to be the centre piece of a tifo.
What held us back from developing into a larger group was out lack of numbers. I'm not sure why out numbers never grew, it may have been faults on our behalf for not promoting ourselves enough/ being open enough/ being quite young at the time etc. Initiatives like USS and the move we tried to top right of the east stand were good idea's and the wider fan base seemed to be supportive of the aims. In an ideal world we could have an area of standing, as I think this would be the perfect place for our numbers to grow. A terrace would allow people who are interested in getting involved to come over as they wish, rather than having to faff around with the seating situation as it is currently. Also having the main body of vocal support in one area is a no brainer really. As ever I will say anyone who is keen on what we do and s interested in getting involved can send me a PM.

The Ultras have never gone away. They put up all the banners at the back of the East Stand every game, and take them down each time. It takes them time and effort each game, and they do a lot to make it better on a match day.
As fans, we will try and make the atmosphere better. We will talk to the Ultras and work together to make Oxford United matches better for us all.
The lads behind the Ultras are the ones who deserve praise.

We still need a Club song to identify OUFC with, it might also enhance the atmosphere. Has there been any thoughts/ideas put to the Club about utilising the area at the back of the East stand? Give local bands a Gig - The oX-factor maybe?!

mcf86 - When You're Smiling would be my choice as a club song. I know its highly unlikely but the best way to utilise the space at the back would be for it to be turned into a terrace. If this were to happen I would be confident the atmosphere would improve dramatically.

Can I ask what are the approximate costs for a banner similar to that wonderful Dortmund banner with the man peeking through some goggles?

Brahma - I wouldn't like to put a definite price on it, because I imagine teams like Dortmund have a connection to a supplier for deals when ordering in bulk. I can give representations of banners we've made. The big surfer we used for Swindon at home the first time around ( tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2z4lcg6&s=5 ) cost around £800 including material, paint, thread etc. We could probably knock that price down a bit now we have experience of making stuff on such large scale. For instance the Keep The Faith banner ( i48.tinypic.com/2q3de2p.jpg ) only cost around £100 pounds and was knocked up pretty quickly. TPL - www.ultrasshop.com/ is a fantastic site for things like custom scarves. We looked into getting scarves to sell... to try and spread interest in us. As of yet though we couldn't get together enough funds to buy them in the first instance. The site is based somewhere in Europe, but they are reliable as we have ordered things such as stickers from them.
