Club confirms that Curtis Nelson has a rupture of his Achilles Tendon.
He will be out for the rest of the season, huge blow to the player and club.
A nasty injury which I've suffered myself, Best of luck with your recovery Curtis.

Bugger. I honestly thought he got hit in the nuts with the ball. Only positive is that raglan is nearing full fitness

Massive blow. Absolutely critical that we start collecting as many points as possible otherwise things could be going even further south than they already are...
Get well soon!

Anyone know how kelleher’s been getting on? Worth a recall in jan ?? He's been in and out of the Solihull team that has conceded in every-game, unless Solihull extend loan he is only there until 3rd January anyway. Worrying that until Raglan is fit , it'll be Martin and Mousinho at CB with Williamson coming in if he is fit in time. We currently have 2 fit CB's i think. Remi Street, is free agent and was wanted by Liverpool at one point, could be worth on contract whilst Nelson is injured. Ribiero captain when fit again? until then Mousinho?

I assume Williamson is a short term injury so with Raglan coming back as well I would have thought we are well covered. It is a blow but is just one of those things and we have to get on with it.

Long, Carroll and riberio have also all played at centre back No disrespect to any of the above but would you say any of them would be centre backs in a promotion chasing team? Crazy how at the start of the season we were saying the squad seemed well stocked with CBs. Edit: Not including Raglan or Williamson in my first paragraph..

No, but again I don’t think we are a promotion chasing team. I think we a team that will finish 9th/10th as I’ve said since pre season. And I think with those 3. Plus raglan, mous ,Williamson and martin, we have enough to cover. Especially as it’s only 9 games till the transfer window. Where if it’s not working we can add to the squad

It's a big blow, but once we get Williamson and Raglan back it shouldn't be too bad. If Williamson can rediscover the form he started the season with that'd be great, but we know how well Raglan can do, and he can play on the left hand side of the CB two, so could allow Mous to move to the right side of the two.

Me too playing squash close season... complete rupture ...finished my semi professional career in the old southern league. What a bummer for the lad.
The road back is long and arduous, best of luck indeed.

Thought it was the Achilles Tendon at the time and proved right. Gutted for him, like I was Thomas and Martin.

Did mine playing tennis, thought someone had shot me in the back of the calf, painful to say the least! 12 years later and I've never been quite right since.

Wonder if he'll sign a new contract now?
Could be a blessing in disguise. It would be quite the risk for a player with such an injury to gamble.
That's if it's still being offered

Nor have I... despite surgery and intensive physio the tendon was shorter and still causes discomfort when I exercise 35 years later. Modern surgery treatments are now better but also the stresses of the modern professional game greater too. 8 -10 weeks in a cast and then another 9-12months ??

I can sense the knives sharpening for a new scapegoat. We should get behind Martin. He looks miles fitter than last season and every time I’ve seen him this term he hasn’t disappointed. We actually looked stronger at the back on Saturday after he came on.
Terrible luck for Nelson - and the club.

True, apart from the bit where he turned , fell on his face, and then tried to drag their player to the floor rather than just tackling him 😉

Another frustrating thing is only 1 1/2 appearances ago he triggered a £20k payment to Plymouth!

Casts generally gone by the wayside in favour of heel raises inside a moon boot these days...but it's still a significant injury in his profession, he'll lose a considerable degree of calf bulk and as all have suggested, the rehabilitation is lengthy. That he starts with a greater degree of general and leg fitness than the average bear is obviously in his favour, as is the availability of intensive i.e. daily physiotherapy. GWS, Curtis.

Yes...except for being easily beaten by the Northampton player who scored the winning goal. Would Nelson have done any better? Well he might not have fallen over for a start. You could argue that Martin coming on cost us a point and maybe the whole game. I'm obviously not blaming the whole performance on him, and the guy slipped which can happen to anyone, but on those small margins results are decided.

You can also blame ledson for blindly turning into the on rushing midfielder in the center of the park. A simple ball left, right or back to one of the cb's and we're fine. I agree Martin didn't cover himself in glory with his attempted tackle he shouldn't have been in the situation less than two minutes after coming on.

Inevitably it is always defenders and keepers that cop a load of flack when goals are conceded, but they are often only in that situation due to mistakes further up the pitch.

Ledson was massively at fault for the goal. And he knew it.
Another lad that needs our support, not brickbats.
