Rothwell has to start against Northampton We have to not start with Tiendalli or Williamson, we have to play two up top (I suppose that will have to be Thomas and Obika), and since Hall and Payne are the only players we have who can do anything different at all then we have to start with them on the pitch.

The lack of shots on goal in the last couple of games is quite worrying. There's no point having possession and putting some nice passing together if we aren't getting shots away.
Needs to improve very, very quickly. No win in the last four games in all competitions and too many goals being shipped for good measure.
What a weird season. Swinging wildly from great form to terrible form.

Anticipating a depressing passion-free defeat. Jeez Paul, I just for a moment I thought I had read a post from greatunclekip! Respectable able win for us tonight...2-0 This performance was always on the cards. We don't have the players to sort it out. Will the manager or owner do it in January?

No coincidence that we started having chances when they stopped marking Payne. Too easy to beat us at the moment: get a couple of big lads to man mark Payne and get some crosses into a decent target man.

Just coming down the A34 that was fooking shite, an awful performance! While I accept we will lose games, it’s just the manner we have lost the last two away games in particular. We knock the ball about nicely, but there needs to be an end product, that’s been missing and the last few games. We look lost in the final third for some reason.
Feeling short changed from the last two matches. Certainly not value for money.
I love going to away games, but not going to the next two unless I see some change in attitude and commitment from the players. We the fans make an effort to travel and watch, and all we want is the players give 100%! if we lose fine, but look interested and give your all.
Tonight that was turd.
Going to bed as soon as I get in, been along day.

Disappointing to see us unable to see off POV. We are a very frustrating side to watch at the moment. We offer so much at times, so to see us losing games to lower league teams is f*cking galling when we are so clearly talented. We need to get to the cause of this quickly so that we can push on, but I feel that we are losing our grip on the outfield players to deliver any kind of consistency.

Direct Football 2 Tippy Tappy 0
Men against boys. They wanted it more than us. They were prepared to work and fight for every ball. We weren't. We thought we could just turn up and play them off the park. We were wrong.

It doesn't matter about our ability to look as threatening as my grandmother after a Bailies. Or our defence being as soft as a Somerset brie. As long as we play tappy tappy we dont care about the result after all nobody gets promoted or relegated by results.

The side that started last night seriously lacks pace, Mowatt and Henry are decent players individually but you don't want both starting as wingers, they offer no penetration so we create very little. We have a lot of nice footballers but not enough who have the athleticism to go with it it to really hurt teams.
This side would of got blown away by the team we had that got promoted from league 2, they would of run the current lot off the park, it's a shame we never got to see how our best team for 20 years would of done a level up.
We are an up and down side who will have good day mixed in with very bad ones, mid table is our most likely position, and with us out of both cups that anyone attends before the final, it could be quite a dull season, unless we get dragged into the relegation battle.
I would still like to see what Clotet can do with another couple of transfer windows, he came in late and isn't completely to blame for such an unbalanced squad, interesting to see what he can do in January as to bringing players in.

We were really really poor . No pace , we have the slowest team I've ever seen at oxford . Tiendal is awful . Clotet got it wrong in so many ways tonight , why obika never came on I will never know we needed to hold the ball up and bring players into the game . Thomas can score yes but does not create opportunities for others . The Neson situation was strange very poor to think we didn't need our captain tonight .

Tendali was shocking. I’ve never known a player to slow play down as much as he does. Every time he got it he stopped the ball dead before passing it.
The less said about defending crosses the better! Also not sure why for the first goal Mowatt looks to get the ball but when Eastwood throws it he runs away from it!

Obviously disappointing result. Despite having so much of the ball. Last few games we seemed to slipped into a very blunt form of play.
Midfielders pass sideways and are unable to burst pass their man. Frontman runs well off the shoulder, but can't hold ball up. As such we have lots of possession, seem to be in control of game, but never going to score. On top of that, last night our centre backs were bullied by a big front man who allowed a direct long ball approach to work well against us.
For coming keague games we need to reintroduce either Hall or Rothwell to change the dynamics of our midfield 5. Also hoping that Obika plays Tuesday and starts competing for that striking position.

Pretty clear now that the summer signings were a collective disaster. The players who have carried the side are almost all the remnants of Appletons squad: Nelson, Eastwood, ruffels, ledson, Thomas, hall. Of the 14 who have come in, Ricardinho and Payne have mostly done well, Mousinho and Henry Ok. The other ten have ranged from underwhelming to comically disastrous. From 14 you would expect 5 or 6 real successes, and a couple of mistakes. The profile of these lot is the other way around. Which is a great pity, because the players already here have continued to progress. All that was needed were 3 or 4 signings that really made a difference. We clearly lack pace and the loss of Johnson is making a difference.

On a par with Macclesfield last season.

I worry that when the management are committed to a particular ideology on how the great game should be played, pragmatism goes out of the window.
We are not good enough to only think of ourselves and play the way we think is best regardless of the opposition.
It's all very romantic but naive and it will be an achievement for us to hold down a top ten place.
Some strange signings during the summer. No one can deny though that at times we have played really well this season and won some games handsomely.
It's just that we all know that we will lose many and if the players lose faith in the ideology then we will plummet. No indication this has happened.

That's the worst OUFC performance I have seen since the days of Patto. A disgrace from start to finish. Here are five things that simply have to be addressed: 1. Tiandelli was woeful. Yet again. No pace, overweight. Please cancel his contract now. Honestly, he was that bad. 2. Mowatt brings close to zero to the party. Again, no pace, loads of sideways passing. Back to his parent club please. 3. Williamson and Martin are as bad as each other. Both look ok on the ground, but passive players, and neither can dominate a player. Lost out to Tom Pope again and again. 4. Please please please stop all this possession based nonsense. It gets us nowhere. Vale had sussed us. They let us pass the ball around in our own half, and then nicked it off us as soon as we got 20-30 yards out. It was just awful. 5. Wes Thomas? Where do I even start? He wore gloves (it wasn't that cold) and was roughed up for 90 minutes by two centre halves. And how did he react? He threw himself to the ground at nearly every opportunity, whinging endlessly. The only time he showed any aggression was for a ridiculous lunge on one of their defenders. He was lucky not to to be sent off. For those who were lucky enough not to be there, I cannot stress enough how pathetic that performance was.

Rothwell and Hall should both start against Northampton next weekend. We need some pace and directness in the final third and they're the only players we have who can provide that. Stick them either side of Payne in the line of three and we might have a chance of getting some shots away, and creating some chances. Just the thought of getting a couple of shots on target feels like utter bliss at the moment. That's how rubbish the last couple of games have been.
Thomas hasn't scored for about six games now and seemed to seriously lose his head last night, so perhaps Obika may need to come in for a couple of starts, especially if this one up top tactic is hanging around. At least he may hold the ball and let others get around him so that we can appear to have some sort of attacking threat.
And for crying out loud, just stick Ruffels at left back for a couple of games if Ricardinho isn't fit. Tiendalli is awful and completely knackered - there's no way that man is ever getting a professional contract again after he leaves here. One beautiful flicked pass at Fleetwood shouldn't be enough to pull the wool over the eyes. One footed, slows the play down, can't run, and by the hour mark he resembles a 50 year old on a local park pitch... he's finished. If he gets another year in the summer I think I might smash up the shed.
Personally I hope we lose against MK in that monstrosity of a cup on Tuesday, and that the other group game goes in a way that knocks us out of it completely. Might as well just focus on the league and try to keep the fixture count down after a couple of seasons of 60+ games. Maybe another transfer window and a very manageable schedule throughout winter and beyond can at least give us a chance of shunting up the table.

Embarrassing. We're paying the price for Pinocchio not spending any of the cash on a quality striker and creative midfielder, despite promises made. Too many broken promises to the fans.
Time for an investor, or new owner that can take us to the next level The real key to getting to the next level is owning the stadium. Simple. By "the next level" do you mean the Championship or giving a struggling League 2 side a decent game in the FA Cup?

When we're good we're very good, and when we're bad we're horrid.
Mid table team at best, not enough pace in the team, too much quantity and not enough quality in the squad.
I'll be glad when we reach the 50 plus points mark.

Well that was grim. Capped off by over taking the London Road coaches twice thanks to taking the M5 into 30mph road works! Yes sorry about that; we told the coach driver to put his foot down and get us home to the Shire asap. Four hours to get there and two hours back, even with waiting 20 minutes in a deserted car park for our police escort out of Dodge (AKA Burslem).
